I love MRJ, and I miss him on my TV. And despite all the skepticism, I think the Once fandom will be pleasantly surprised with his casting. He takes his roles very seriously – I heard he obsessively rehearses his lines and stuff – which reminds me of Robert Carlyle, actually. 😉
I adore Eion Bailey too – but the great part of having an ensemble cast is that you can have multiple crushes, right?

Oh dear, if they show flashbacks of frightened, young peasant Bae all alone in some sprawling urban metropolis, I think I might throw something at my TV. 🙁 I feel really protective of young Bae for some reason. He has such a depressing backstory!

Hmmm. Well, you know Tink, Dylan tweeted “costume fittings are always fun” 9 days ago. But I assumed it was just for Halloween.
But who actually gets fitted for a Halloween costume? …that’s unusual, right?
And he can’t be referring to his other movie because that just features regular, pedestrian clothing. Like, jeans and loose T-shirts and stuff.
…Could Bae be filming in FTL?

On a suspicious note, because he doesn’t normally do this, Dylan Schmid on Twitter is asking if people have Once theories.
Why, teen!Baelfire? SHOULD we be theorizing about something??? ❓in True North, when Henry asked Emma if she had something of his dad’s…she said no. Was she lying about the bug? Or maybe they stole the bug together so it was never technically his. Or maybe he stole the bug so it was never technically his. Or maybe Emma stole it by herself (which is what it looked like in the promo.) Many possibilities at the moment. 🙂
I also wonder if the pumpkin pie thing is true. Or if we’ll see the origin of the women’s bowling trophy in Mystery Man’s apartment.
I have a feeling people are going to make tons of screenshots of the next ep!
I like the theory that August sent the postcard, too. 🙂 I miss August from the show – I admit I didn’t like him at first, but then they started developing his character and gave him a really compelling backstory. I hope he appears in a lot more episodes after the winter break.
But I think the biggest reason that I want Bae and August to know each other is that there seems to be a lack of male friendships on this show. (Is it just me?) I think the closest we’ve probably gotten is the 7 dwarves…Jiminy+Geppetto… or maybe Rumple+Charming. But otherwise, there is 0 male bonding time. And whenever a friendship appears on screen, it offers a unique opportunity for the characters to express what they’re thinking to the audience (like Gold’s confession in the Crocodile about Belle.) So I’m surprised there is so little of it, even just as a dramatic tool.
Back to Mystery Man,
I think the clue about why he left Emma is in the casting call for Jack. “Running from his past in a land full of danger.” So I really wonder if something about Emma’s connection to FTL is what drove him away, or if it was something from his more recent past as a thief. (I’m kinda assuming he’s Bae here. Sorry :?) I’m leaning towards the first. Maybe he found out Emma’s story (like he tried to find her parents for her, because he wanted her to be happy) and found out where she was from or … found Storybrooke?If he’s Baelfire and found out his father was SB (but Gold was cursed at this time and wouldn’t have recognized him)…THAT could have spooked him. I think it makes sense that he would leave Emma at that point, not sure whether to get involved with FTL and his past again.
Assuming Neal = Henry’s father = Bae:
Poor guy. I wonder if he even knows what he’s going to find in Storybrooke. His estranged father, his long-lost love, the son he never knew he had, or the pirate who ran off with his mother/is seeking revenge against his father/flirting with his ex. That or an evil, shape-shifting witch who probably wouldn’t mind ripping out his heart.
This is why I hope he has a friend in August, who was slated to return for this episode. After all he's been through, he shouldn't walk into Storybrooke blind. Plus, I think August might be on a redemption quest to get his humanity back – maybe he hopes reuniting Rumple with his son will convince Rumple to make him human again. I don't have proof for this, of course. Just thinking out loud.
As for the reactions, don’t forget about Charming. I can see him finding out and lunging at Gold for some reason… 😕
I do like the idea that the car was his. It would make the fact that she still had it all that much more potent. I’m a big SwanFire fan (and i refuse to believe Neal isn’t really Bae until the show says otherwise…and then i will die). A lot of people pointed out that, if they were soulmates, it would add a lot of symmetry to the show. The beginning and end of the curse; Henry being the product of true love…
I’m trying to keep an open mind that Bae could be someone else (i.e. NOT Henry’s father), but to be honest, I’m exactly the same.
(And apart from the meaningful stuff that their relationship could represent, I think deep down I just want to see Rumple’s reaction to SwanFire. 😉 )
Still have no inkling as to what Neal Cassady did that was so horrible. But on the plus side (if there is a plus side), the fact that Emma’s still bitter about their relationship likely means that at one point she cared really deeply for him. She might still. Since all the spoiler scenes are taking place in Portland, Oregon I wonder what “Tallahassee” meant to them? Maybe they had planned to move there and start a family, then something happened.
I also wonder how they’re going to compare/contrast her interactions with Neal and Hook. Can’t wait!
Usually Wednesday; Thursday at the latest. And there’s usually three sneak peeks…I’m guessing we’ll have one of Emma and Hook, and that the other two will have something to do with Emma’s backstory. (Wishful thinking, right?) Or maybe we’ll get a clip of the giant, instead.
I like your theory, Lil’Red! That would be kinda, well, adorable if she stole the car he was sleeping in.
