Daniel mentioned this in the initial reactions too, but has it ever been established that mermaids actually “create” portals that just anyone can go through like with the beans? I think mermaids can traverse realms somehow, but they can’t take people with them.
Both have been said. Rumpel has said that mermaids can travel between realms in S3, but Poseidon states that Ariel found him and “brought him through a portal” in S4. Which is weird because I believe in season 3 it also was stated that mermaids couldn’t bring people with them when they traveled realms.
So…once upon a continuity errors.
EDIT: I just checked the wiki. It says they can open portals and travel between realms, but cant take people with them through portals. But again, Ariel did it. The writers just don’t care. Rump could have threatened a mermaid or two back in his day to open a portal for him, but ran afoul of the REAL sea witch who told him to back off so he stopped. That’s my headcannon now.
I think that is because MERMAINS can travel from realm to realm via water … Poseidon as king of the sea can breath under water so he can go with Ariel … I would think land lubbers would die traveling thru water unless they had an air tank…. JMO

.[adrotate group="5"]After thinking about this overnight, I have started to wonder if Jane only wrote the present day SB stuff–drunk Snow, Regina/Emma, and the ending with Gideon/Emma. While the last bit with Gideon and Emma was totally horrible and eyeroll worthy with the “Tears of the Savior” the other stuff was the only highlight, IMO, of an incredibly weak episode–so weak that many have noted that it’s Jane’s worst. So maybe she didn’t really have a hand in it?
I sincerely hope this is true. The storybrooke scenes were way better. I think we all agree that the bar scenes were the best.
I am just happy that my gdS stopped watching ONCE cause some of the stuff they are putting out for 8pm family hour show is not acceptable okay for later in the night but not for younger kids.

I think the musical episode and the finale will be the highest rated of the season, probably.
ONLY IF people are aware of the musical episode since a lot of people do not know about it coming …only die hard fans know about it …FYI ….
The actress that played Jasmen gave a live interview on AFTERBUZZ Once Upon a Time Podcast THE interview was interesting even though I did not care for the story-line..

I did not care for Alladdin, Jasmin and Jafar …. story was boring … not invested in it …
Did enjoy seeing ARIEL … Was that a different actor as PRINCE ERIC? Although it was funny it turned out to be a hungry Jafar.

GIDEON needs to be regress back to being a baby …. his behavior is atrocious… he could have just asked EMMA for help … she would have given it to him..

2. – Tinkerbell wasted screen time. Her importance on the storyline she was placed was a bit pointless. She could have been used in the Black Fairy plot instead.
TINK still might be in the black fairy episode …. it hasn’t show yet. Awful lot of $$$ to import a character for a one minute scene.
