RATINGS
Once Upon a Time 2.9 (2.89) 8.79 MILLION season 2 ratings
Last year, Once Upon a Time got off to a positive start in the ratings but then kept falling each week. It looked like the show would be in danger of being cancelled but the numbers picked up a bit and stopped falling. Will the ratings hold steady this season, rise or sink? It’s not magic but we will have to be patient.
The second season of Once Upon a Time typically airs Sunday nights on ABC. The large cast includes Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Robert Carlyle, Lana Parrilla, Jared Gilmore, Raphael Sbarge, Meghan Ory, Emilie de Ravin, Giancarlo Esposito, Eion Bailey, Anastasia Griffith, Jamie Dornan, Sebastian Stan, Barbara Hershey, Lee Arenberg, David Anders, Jesse Schram, and Tony Perez.
Here are the TV show’s ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if Once Upon a Time is going to be cancelled or renewed for season three.
These figures will be updated as the weeks progress so be sure to bookmark and return to this page:

Eion Bailey Guest Stars as August
“Selfless, Brave and True” – While Mary Margaret goes off on her own in an attempt to come to grips with what she did to Cora and how her deed has affected her, she stumbles upon August, who has hidden himself away from the others and is completely made of wood — ashamed at the actions he has taken in life.
Emma is shocked when Neal invites his fiancée, Tamara, to come to Storybrooke. Meanwhile, before the curse was cast, August is introduced to a man of magic who may be able to prevent him from turning back into wood — but at a steep price — on “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, MARCH 24 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Guest starring are Tony Amendola as Geppetto/Marco, Keegan Connor Tracy as Mother Superior/Blue Fairy, Michael Raymond-James as Neal Cassidy, Eion Bailey as August W. Booth, Ethan Embry as Greg Mendell, Sonequa Martin-Green as Tamara, Dianne Doan as Isra, Peter Kawasaki as orderly, Rick Tae as doctor, Manny Jacinto as Quon, Tzi Ma as The Dragon and Jakob Davies as Pinocchio.
“Selfless, Brave and True” was written by Robert Hull & Kalinda Vazquez and directed by Ralph Hemecker.
The set of official stills from the episode has also been released:
.It looks like a real-world flashback this time! Are you excited to see August back on Once Upon a Time, and to find out what he’s been up to since arriving in our world as a child?

With a mix of repeat (AFHV) and original programming up against nearly all first-run competition, ABC finished as the 2nd-most-watched net on Sunday to CBS and paced within 1-tenth of a tie for first in Adults 18-49.
Surging over its Adult 18-49 lead-in at 8pm (+57%), ABC’s Once Upon A Time tied CBS’ Amazing Race for #1 in the hour.
The ABC drama won its time slot with key Women (W18-34/W18-49) to rank as Sunday’s highest-rated broadcast series. Once Upon A Time held 100% of its week-ago Fast Affiliate Adult 18-49 rating.
Please Note: Once Upon A Time is seeing much bigger ratings growth after day of air, up sharply over last Fall and the year-ago Spring.
The Adult 18-49 increases for Once Upon A Time from L+SD to L+7 have gone from 42% last Fall up to 52% this Spring, and is also showing a much bigger gain than the same point last Spring (39%).
The ABC drama is posting similar playback increases in Total Viewers, gaining 36% this Spring, as compared to 31% in the Fall and 29% last Spring.

On April 7, ABC will air another enhanced version of the “The Miller’s Daughter” episode of Once Upon A Time, which will include text on the screen and will “let viewers in” on clues within the show, as facts and back story.
The first special episode, based on “Queen of Hearts”, will air on March 31.

Question: Should we Once Upon a Time fans be worried with the low ratings the show has oddly been getting lately? I don’t understand why the show is getting such low ratings as all of my family and friends still watch the series and the online fanbase is so large. I know the ratings really aren’t the full picture anymore, and a Season 3 renewal is pretty much a given, but should we be worried that Season 3 could be the last? A lot of my friends now watch the show with their DVRs or online which I know the overnight ratings don’t include. Once they add those factors in, plus how popular the show is on social networking sites like Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook, it has to change the story. I’m sure ABC knows how large the fandom actually is and I’m sure if we have to, there will be online campaigns to keep the show on the air like there have been with Chuck and Fringe. I’m starting to wonder if next season ABC will pair OUAT with S.H.I.E.L.D. by either keeping it on Sundays or moving it to another day, or if it will go the route of Lost and schedule an end date with a multiple-season renewal? I just hope this show is able to end the way the writers want it to. I think they, the cast and we as fans deserve to have a proper ending. — AmandaMatt Roush: It’s a little early to start worrying about renewal beyond this season, don’t you think? Once was not helped by ABC scheduling first-run episodes against big events in January and February, but any show on Sundays faces that problem. Daylight savings is also no friend to shows that air at 8/7c. But in the bigger picture, as you suggested, the networks are taking into account many more factors than the immediate overnight ratings to calculate what makes a show a success in this increasingly fragmented marketplace. I like your idea of pairing Once with a similarly fantastic show, but I’d be surprised if ABC moves this show off of Sundays, where it still performs an important function as a family-friendly show in a critical hour. Either way, it seems too early for the Once producers to start thinking about an endgame or for fans to be worrying about an unhappily-ever-after scenario.

ABC’s Once Upon a Time is expanding its kingdom to the publishing realm with a new book series.
In what seems like a natural pairing for the show, Once Upon is debuting a fantasy novel from Disney-owned Hyperion books.
The first title in what may be a series of books is titled Reawakened (cover image above) and it’s novelization of the show’s first season and promises to give “fans of the show a whole new look at their favorite characters and stories.” The narrative will be told in alternating points-of-view—that of Emma Swan (portrayed by Jennifer Morrison in the show) in the real world of Storybrooke, and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) in Fairy Tale Land. The novel is written by Odette Beane, and based upon the TV series by Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.
ABC has engaged in book tie-ins before, such as for its detective series Castle.

Reawakened will be available first as an exclusive ebook on April 27, and then one week later in a paperback edition.
