Another observation from tumblr (I’m using it vent furiously), is that:

He wants to have power and magic, and be free from the control of the Dagger. He’s shaping up to be the ultimate Big Bad of the series.

If Rumple wants to be free of the dagger, then that’s okay. Really I have no problem with that and I think Belle would understand his desire for this but the way he’s going about trying to accomplish this…

Rumple would make an interesting villain since he’s very unpredictable and has ties to everyone really but that’s not clear in the writing.

It’s definitely not going to be good for Belle.

At this point, I’m not sure what Belle can really do to stop Rumple or keep him under control. He won’t trust her with the dagger and Rumple, being Rumple, he’s always going to find a way around what Belle doesn’t approve of. It’s just the way he is. And Belle, as much as she wants to believe he can be better, really she enables him by sticking by him the way she does.

As for the hat, not that I defend Rumple cause I don’t in the slightest, but I don’t think the hat has to fully absorb the magical wearer to get the magic. There might be an option to only suck away just the magic itself, because Elsa’s parents apparently wanted to use the hat to take away Elsa’s magic, and I doubt they planned on imprisoning her.

I don’t think so Matt.  The sorcerer’s apprentice was sucked into the hat.  And RC said the hat not only takes away a person’s magic, but the person too.

Rumple being Rumple though probably did not tell Elsa’s parents the full truth and I suspect, that’s probably the case with Emma here as well.

I…ehh….they need to explain what he’s doing because right now he’s coming across as just selfish, evil, egotistical, and without a purpose which is decidedly not how they used to write him.

    I agree.

As frustrated as I am with Rumple, I need Adam and Eddy to explain what is going on with Rumple.  Although, knowing he’s going after Emma, no explanation is probably going to change the way I feel about him right now.

The question is whether or not the hat will actually suck in Emma as well. If that’s the case, then Rumple has really reverted back to his old pure evil self.

    I think he’s already there.

I really don’t know what to say about Rumple anymore. I can’t come up with a reason to defend him, especially when he pulls tricks like this and to Emma, of all people.

Emma’s a good person, she doesn’t deserve to be trapped in a hat.

Just because she’s magical, he has to trap her?! Last episode was my boiling point in regard to Rumple’s behavior, but this is the explosion that further fuels how I feel about him this season.

I used to really love Rumple, he was my favorite for three seasons and now, I honestly cannot say that anymore. He’s not the character I fell in love with. This is more than being manipulative and downright vindictive, this is cruel.

I have a seething hate for Rumple now.  It would help to understand why he’s behaving the way he is but I honestly can’t up with a plausible reason that doesn’t end with, “he’s being self-serving.”

I’m not sure if that means Rumple gets more wicked by episode 9 or 10, or if that’s when his lies start unraveling and he has to do damage control.

There’s an older interview where Bobby did at the start of the season that things get bad for Rumple around episode 9 and 10.

“it’s going to be bad at the end of episodes nine and 10 for Rumple.”

And that was in reference to his marriage to Belle, maybe by that time she knows the truth about the dagger.

I just logged onto the forum using Firefox and the chat is not visible there either.

    Safari works.
