Hook definitely proved himself in season 3 especially by giving up the JR and then not mentioning it. I just hope he doesn’t blow it in season 4.
I see no reason for him to. The only time he turns dark is when someone kills someone he loves. Even then, I think he’s learned better ways to deal with loss.
The year without Emma for example. He could have reverted to his frat boy pirate ways but he didn’t.
I think he’s matured a lot in the way he loves people and handles loss.

I was wrong about the villains being the most hard core ‘shippers. These guys are 🙂
Why would Hook’s reactions be shown during emotional scenes unless it was an investment in the future Hook and Emma relationship? SFers interpretation of those scenes (ie, outside the echo caves, and in the diner before the “long haul” discussion just to name two) as showing Hook 1. either seeking to find a way to manipulate Emma or to break up Neal/Emma’s twue wuv relationship by interjecting himself in the scene and/or 2. his reactions to the scenes while not being part of them show him as being an outsider and therefore not a real contender for Emma’s affections. Goes to show how affective the shipping goggles are.

How was Hook trying to break up Neal and Emma when he was pushing for Neal to make a move? The logic there doesn’t compute. And I think Hook knew, because he knows Emma well enough that it probably was not going to work out with her and Neal. Even JMo understands this about her character. Emma was even skeptical about a date with Neal as being a ‘good moment.’ When you’re skeptical about another person, there’s usually a reason for that. She also wished that he was really dead. JMo called Neal’s inevitable, that something needed to happen because it would be difficult for her to be happy with him.
I don’t know how much clearer things need to be.
I mean ep3 = Regina outright calling Hook her boyfriend, so it was hardly supposed to be subtle lol And talk about how many villains wanted them or ‘shipped them together. Like all of Regina’s family are hard core ‘shippers. Cora was the first, then Regina herself and then Zelena. Then, we had Pan from Rumple’s side. When you have as many villains wanting them to be together, you know there’s something going on.
One thing I noticed about S3 there were a lot of shots of Hook looking at Emma (and quite a few reciprocal ones too) Most obv in Going Home when Hook has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation, but the camera pans to his reaction to the news Emma is going to stay behind while everyone else will be forced back to the EF. It was pretty obv at the point which romance the writers were going to pursue.
OMG, that happened so much in 3A, it’s ridiculous. There were even a few times a SwanFire scene was overshadowed by Captain Swan. It happened in Ariel, Dark Hollow…I don’t understand how one can watch those scenes and not realize the Captain Swan undertones? And cinematography does not like. I seriously think if season 3 were meant to be a build-up of a SwanFire romance, we wouldn’t need to see Captain Hook’s reaction.
More often than not, we would see his reaction to see Hook’s reaction to something SF related. Like the hug in the Echo Caves, or after Neal’s confession to Emma outside of the caves? Why do you need to see Hook’s reaction in those scenes? If it was the other way around, you wouldn’t need to see his reaction. It’s only relevant to see his reaction because he and Emma are the romance going forward.
Like in Dark Hollow or one of the other episodes, Neal’s talking and Emma watches Hook pass through the frame.
And I did notice in the street scene in 3a finale, the only time we saw Neal’s reaction was during Rumple’s actual confrontation with his father. Camera panned to Hook’s reaction to Emma leaving more often than Neal’s.
I have to absolutely agree with everyone who dismisses the “child abandonment” charges concerning Hook and Bae. There was no malicious intent, pre-planned sale or plotted evil regarding Bae. Hook tried several times to convince him to stay. He offered his protection, genuine concern and guidance and when Bae was determined to insultingly throw it all in his face and insisted he just be dropped off anywhere, (which, come to think of it was really teenaged -stupid heh) well…that vibrant passion I was talking about earlier kicked in and Hook didn’t fight for him when the lost creeps boarded. It was that internal, pained demon acting up in Hook again. Indeed when Hook saw the marked out symbols on his ship’s wheel mounting( what is the real name for that????) that he had drawn while teaching Bae to navigate, it was a giant first step to overcoming those demons, recognizing he had to change his mindset and become a better man, show “good form” and go back to Storybrooke with the portal bean.
I agree too. He offered Bae a chance/choice for The Jolly Roger to be his home too and Bae turned him down.
There’s that word again, choice. Hook gave him the choice. He didn’t force him to stay. Bae made his choice to leave.
As much as the haters want to hate on Hook for every single tiny little thing, at least when it comes to the people he loves, he gives them choices. He in no way takes away another’s person’s agency. Milah made her choice, Bae made his choice and he let Emma decide what she wanted. You can’t fault the man for caring about what the other person wants to do.
FYI, I’m going to be away during the first two weeks of the premiere. So, I’m going to miss at least the first two episodes of the season. I’l be in Canada (or here, pending if I get a job or not). I’ll be in Ontario.
You don’t have to miss a thing. I believe you mentioned that you’re coming to Toronto . OUAT is on channel 8 (CTV) at 8pm. Are you coming here for a family function or just visiting?
My dad’s attending a space Congress up there. After that’s done, he’s free to do whatever. I know which channel it plays on but I watch with my boyfriend, so I’m going to try really, really hard to stay away from spoilers.

I hope you’re not serious about this. Again, as annoying as those people who still cling to Neal coming back, I don’t think it’s worth making a petition over the naming of a new site. I like it here. Before this place, I didn’t really have a place to go and post my theories and chat with other Oncers.
I think for the most part, we are done with present fairytale. I don’t think there’s a reason to go back there. But fairytale land past, different story. I think MRJ is busy with his new show on the History Channel to come back to Once (he’s playing two or three different parts?).
I just wish some people would learn to move on, you know? It’s nearly seven months now. It’s getting old. I mean goodness, if you’re so unhappy watching this show, then don’t watch and remove yourself from places that bring out that bad feeling.
After Neal died, a podcast (not naming which one) shut down their site. I thought that was an extreme decision, but if you’re unhappy doing something, then you shouldn’t do it.
The closer we get to the premiere, the more interviews we’ll get. So, I’m really excited about that. We’re going to see Colin and Jen and everyone else everywhere.

There is a Captain Swan friendly chat on tumblr. I posted the link before and on fanforum, there’s no chat at all. Only thread posts and they have strict rules about anti ‘ships and character posting. They’re not allowed.
It also is fairly easy to make your own forum nowadays, but I love coming here. As annoying as it is, to see some people in the chat, overall I’ve found it’s only one person like that.
I started to think last night in what context we might see Maleficent. You know, we have yet to see the original sleeping beauty Fairytale.
I think we’ll get flashbacks to that and I would not be surprised if Adam and Eddy made it into some sort of love triangle.
How would that relate to the present? Well, we already have a love triangle with outlaw Queen. Regina might try to use a sleeping curse on Marian or a bigger twist on herself.
Regina used the apple on Emma in season one but there is a spinning wheel in Rumple’s shop.
