ParticipantI agree @jenna_b 🙂 I’d also like to add that Emma is pretty smart. I think she knows that Milah, Hook’s Milah is Neal’s mother. I mean, Hook was able to figure out after Emma said in the season 2 finale that Neal died that he was Baelfire, therefore, Neal = Bae and Rumple’s son.
I think it just really bothers me that Oncers don’t give the characters we love enough credit about their smarts/intelligence.

ParticipantYep, I tend to agree A&E tried to define TL & SM to keep everyone happy- although they could have done that by simply stating “they are one in the same”.
I think this would have upset me more because what I would really want to know, is what the difference is between the two. Â If they said they were the same, it would retcon a lot of things. Â Cora and Rumple for instance. Â They were stated to be soulmates but their kiss wasn’t true love’s kiss because it didn’t break his curse. Â Only Belle did that.

Participant@Rumplegoldfan said this in the Soul Mate v True Love thread, and I think it was so spot on, I’m copying and posting here! There’s an elephant in that thread no one’s mentioning – and thank god, because I don’t need Ship War III. But one thing I ultimately find interesting, at least in our thread, is that many of us seem less bothered by the semantics.Â
Generally, I agree with you. Â Although I have seen at least one SF fan in that thread that has a very laid back position on everything. Â I think I said a couple of times that we’re getting hung up on semantics as opposed to actually talking and discussing the similarities and differences which is something I was looking forward to for reasons (*cough cough, my true love meta). Â <–Â It’s on my mind 24/7, what can I do?
I think mostly when it comes to the board here, things have calmed down a lot since Neal’s death. Â I notice when there’s a CS new/spoiler posted now, Â rarely anyone (and I mean, SF fans) post a response to it. Â I think they just ignore that stuff when it comes out. Â Indifference isn’t any better but it would be worse if there was a massive denial about the way things are too.

ParticipantI’ll expand on that and say True Love can be both romantic and familial but soulmates, for the most part of Once is generally strictly romantic.
