ParticipantOkay, now that’s explained better, I agree with what you’re saying RG. 3B could have been a chance for Belle to really shine and while her love for books was showcased, she wasn’t as heavily featured as I thought she would be. Like you said, Belle’s primary purpose was to explain stuff when it was needed and there was little character development outside of that role in 3B. I know she must have been in agony knowing that her Rumple was under Zelena’s control but it wasn’t highlighted very well. There wasn’t even that much angst.

ParticipantI agree with most everything @rumplesgirl except for the empowering women part.

ParticipantI think the problem with Belle is how much the writers have really isolated her from everyone else. In the span of the show we know that she has had at least three meaningful friendships outside of Rumple : with Grumpy, Red and Ariel.
We havent seen Grumpy try and hang out with Belle much in Storybrooke; the friendship with Red lasted about two episodes and then there was no resolution to it after Belle lost her memories but no mention of after she recovered them. Ariel’s on an island somewhere without a cellphone or even Skype.
Like, I always thought it would be interesting if Belle and Tink became friends. I feel like they’d get along well. And Belle reconciling with Moe off screen always felt odd to me. Like the writers didn’t feel like the viewers cared to see what really happened there though I suspect Moe wasn’t enthusiastic about his daughter marrying the Dark One.
I do feel like with Rumple’s betrayal, it’s a good opportunity for Belle to develop away from Rumple. I hope the writers actually spend time, letting us see Belle go through the motions and talk to different people about what she should do. Belle needs a confidant outside of Rumple (also her father; who I feel would only shove it in her face that her true love hasn’t changed).

ParticipantI love the Captain Theme. It is seriously a beautiful piece if music and it is totally reminiscent of classic love themes. I wrote a meta about it awhile back, connecting it to ‘ hope’ which is a major theme for CS.
I can’t wait until volume 3 of the soundtrack is available so I can finally have a cleaned up version of it. The theme rivals Snowing in terms of its epic ness and romance and every time in hear it, I feel and hear hope. It’s written all over it.

ParticipantI was looking through posts on tumblr about Jen attending the Monte Carlo TV festival and during the press conference, she said that the last two episodes of season three (the two part finale) were her favorite and generally, Jen says that about episodes that are good for her character.
It just reminds me how the word good has been used this past season.
Emma kissed Hook in Neverland because she was feeling good
when Hook told her that he would think of her everyday …she replied good.
Henry said something in NY Serenade; that Emma needed to accept things that were good.
And Emma didn’t think lunch with Neal qualified as a good moment.
It goes back to the point that Jen knows her character in and out and can definitely recognize that Neal was not good for Emma because like she said, that he hurt her too many times. That honestly, the most Emma and Neal could be if he hadn’t died were friends and parents. Nothing romantic would ever develop because there’s too much painful history there; especially on Emma’s part. And it takes two to tango. You can’t have a romantic relationship with someone if the other person isn’t fully in it.
But Jen recognized a lot this past season in interviews that Killian is good for Emma and we saw her realize this in the finale because they kissed!
‘Ships aside, I really wish Oncers would look at Emma and root for her happiness. If anyone is going to ‘ship Emma with anyone or anything, let it be happiness because at the of the day, I want her to be with someone that makes her happy.
And being happy is good. It’s good for your health – so if anything being happy in love will not only make her stronger but psychically stronger as well 😉
