Charming might have the same reservations that a lot of us have, that they didn’t really know him and couldn’t do this but I think it was Snow’s decision. I can see her really wanting to push for naming him Neal.
So if I’m right and it came down to Snow’s final decision, it’s not that surprising.

That goes back to the point that Snow never really knew him but also, Snow’s belief in true love, that first love = true love. Remember how much Snow was pushing Emma to find Neal in Neverland after they found out he was alive. And Snow was still pushing Emma towards Neal once they got back to Storybrooke even though Emma didn’t want to revisit a romantic relationship.

I agree Jenna. Like is Killian familiar with the concept of a date? Let’s face it, when it comes fairy tale relationships on Once, people meet, fall in love quickly, are separated, the declare their love again after reuniting and get married.
Probably the most traditional courtship I can recall is the start of Rumbelle in Skin Deep, when Rumple offered Belle a flower as a way to test the waters for a romantic relationship.
But I’d love to see how he courts Emma as her boyfriend now. I like to think, given his background in the navy, he would be more gentlemanly towards her but still piratey when needed.
I doubt it will make Snow a different person in the sense of becoming more intolerant for example. Her act was an act of deep love, it should grow her character and make her stronger again and not diminish the character even more.
Just because she was so focused on baby story Snow doesn’t now need to be a traditionalist. She might have some suburban housewife vibe at the moment, but making her because of that conservative in views on romance would be a cliche in itself.
I see it somewhat like RumplesGirl. Snow has proven to be open minded, she accepted Red the way she is, she befriended dwarfs, she is giving Regina chance after chance. Right, she tricked Regina and killed Cora, but at least for a while because of that Snow had a dark spot in her heart. Snow is far from perfect on the show, she was not even in season 1 while she was still a strong (aka more complex and interesting) character, and even more so if you look around in forums. so I don’t see a point in making her the one being dismissive of same gender romance at first. A lot of people see her as being a rather self-righteous person by now, it would be no surprising moment, just another nail in the coffin of the great character we had once upon a time ago.

At this stage of the game, I’d say CaptainSwan is probably endgame unless they plan on having Emma end up alone or introduce a last minute love interest.
I think that couple’s montage at the end of the finale was a pretty strong hint where they’re going as far as couple’s being endgame. We might see new couples introduced but I think those four are going to be the main ones and they’ll end up together.

See, that would be very, very, poor writing if Adam and Eddie changed their minds and went that route. There have been so many subtle hints here and there and the fact that they came out and said that Hook was always meant to fall in love with Emma and we even saw in the finale, that past-Hook was still ‘lovestruck’ by her, makes me think that this is it. They will end up being true loves.
Once has always been about Emma’s journey towards finding her own happy ending and if her happy ending is that she ends alone without a romantic love interest, I will seriously lose faith in television all together. Because, why, why would the writers have this kind of build-up between two characters with the intention of presenting them as kindred spirits and then at the last minute, go: Psych! We fooled you!
That’s just mean and very bad writing, IMO.
For those who are interested, Spinning Tales on livejournal published their over all “screen time” recap for rumbelle for season 3.
At this stage in the story, I would be shocked if Hook dies. Obviously the writers have wanted Hook and Emma together for a long time and it would be very disappointing, to see them come together finally and then rip him away like that.
Plus, I don’t want to see Emma sad and depressed anymore because her losing Hook permanently, would make her walls go up even further and after a long season of so much character development in regard to her relationship with Hook and her family, I would be pissed.
I’m not sure if we will ever see the Black Fairy. Seems so far, the wand itself is a plot device (something the characters need to use to get from point A to point B).
