ParticipantI think it makes perfect sense. And I think it adds to the “Malcolm loved Rumple in the most limited way possible.” For Malcolm it was all about HIM, not his son. It makes me wonder, if Rumple hadn’t gone looking for Malcolm once he got the bean, would Malcolm have ever come back for his son? Or just left him with the spinners?
The one thing that gets me is that A and E have said they don’t do “evil for the sake of evil.” But Malcolm, while he does have motivations outside of pure evilness, is about as close as it comes to “evil for the sake of evil” that we’ve seen on the show.
I think the two things that separates him from Rumple as a father – Malcolm is selfish to the core and has no regrets.
Rumple has regrets. He’s spent centuries trying to find a way to get back to his son. The curse was for Baelfire.
I really hoped that Neal had stayed in EF longer, so he could learn more about his dad and what he went through but I’m happy with him realizing, yes, Rumple abandoned him but his grandfather is FAR worse.

ParticipantOnce Upon a Time Preview: Will a ‘Bomb Under the Table’ Blow Up the Storybrooke Reunions?
“What drives Pan is self-preservation. He is somebody who wants to be 14 for the rest of his life, somebody who is completely selfish and is willing to give up his own child and, as you saw [last week], has no regrets about it,” Kitsis notes. “He really the worst, most selfish part of all of us.”What do you all think of this?

ParticipantThat was a very long post @mysterykat25 and I agree with every part of it.
I think you all know where I stand on Neal — I cannot stand him. It’s like the Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker thing. I loved Vader but could not stand his younger self. He was so selfish and destructive.
But I despite my feelings for Neal, I do want him to be happy. I just don’t think his happy ending is with Emma. I think somewhere down the line, we’re going to find out that Neal has a different True Love (like what Adam and Eddie did with Regina this season).
I also really believe, his main story has nothing to do Emma and everything to do with his relationship with his father. Like, that’s the whole reason for the curse. Rumpel wanted the curse enacted so he could come to our world and his his son. It had nothing to do with teaching the residents of the EF a lesson about happy endings. It had everything to do with finding his son.

ParticipantThat is a very good question, something I’ve been wondering about myself. The way I think of it, Emma is the epitome of True Love magic. It’s something she’s always had inside of her.
Henry could have that same magic in himself but it’s just not manifested in him, the same way it has Emma.
Also, Star Wars reference here but Luke and Leia both could use the Force but it was stronger in Luke. Leia didn’t learn the Jedi stuff she needed to know until much later.
So, in other words, the True Love magic could be latent in Henry.

ParticipantI did.
I’m listening to the episode now. They talk about how Neal needs to be punched by Charming and then talk about other positive CS stuff. These girls are so funny and some of them, I already follow on tumblr so that’s awesome too.
