That is very interesting.
Names are very important on Once. Cora named Regina Regina because she wanted her to be queen one day and Baelfire needed a strong name because his father was seen as the town coward. If Colin and Killian carry opposite meanings, it’s probably intentional.
[adrotate group="5"]But in the end I think that Hook will always remain true to his philosophy that a man who isn’t willing to go after want he wants deserves what he gets (or whatever it was that he said) and will go after her. . . if only to rescue us from a severe lack of chemistry between Emma and Neal as soon as possible!!!!

Actually, we’ve already seen a lot of character development from both Emma and Hook respectively. We saw Emma realize at the beginning of season 2, how much her parents gave up for her and how much she gas grown to love them as her parents. Then, we got Hook wanting revenge on Rumpelstiltskin, failing repeatedly at it in the present throughout much of season two, only to begin to realize towards the end of the season that revenge is a lonely path and even if he does accomplish it, he’ll still be empty and without love in his life. Then finally, in the finale, he gave up his revenge so he can be a “part of something” and help rescue Henry.
As for Hook stepping aside once Neal comes back, or Emma running into his arms, Jen already confirmed that she’s not going to forget the what Neal did to her and run into his arms when they finally reunite. Adam and Eddie hinted that they are going to have a very honest conversation. I don’t think Hook/Killian would simply step aside unless Emma asked him too but knowing that she is loved by Killian and sees all the awesome things he’s been doing, helping her find Henry, I don’t think she’s going to forget that either and hook up with Neal.

Okay, so I have some thoughts to share.
Tallahassee was an episode that showed us past and present, primarily Emma’s past and her present. We saw snippets of her relationship with Neal and we also saw Hook and Emma working together as a team in the present. Theirs was and still is, a relationship that continues to play out in real time.
Looking back now, there’s a lot of nice symbolism and foreshadowing that happens in that episode. First, when Emma stops Hook from accidentally stepping on the trip wire. He’s all happy and excited and it was probably a moment where he thought something romantic was going to happen. Then, a moment later, Hook says, ‘everything we need is right in front of us’ and he says this as Hook steps across the screen in front of Emma.
He also said before walking away, “next time don’t stand on ceremony”
Then, this coming episode 3×05 “Good Form”
We get Hook’s backstory, not so much Hook but more Killian Jones about how he became a pirate. We’re going to learn more about his past and then we see him in the present. We will see Emma and Killian’s romance playing out in real time and when this kiss happens, Emma’s “not standing on ceremony” She’s going for it, no second thoughts, she’s living in the moment and she’s also realizing, what she’s needed all along, he’s been right in front of her the whole time. Killian.
This is brilliant writing on Adam and Eddie’s part. They are setting them up perfectly as True Love’s. If they weren’t meant to be, they wouldn’t give us Emma’s backstory/present in one episode and then a year later, give us a parallel episode with Hook.

I swear, this season feels like Christmas. Every week or so, we get an awesome CS surprise that makes us all very happy and reason to be excited for more goodies to come!
