ParticipantI don’t see many posts defending Milah and her actions, but this post does a really good job it. Doesn’t mean I like her, but the writer brings up some interesting points.

😀 That is so going on my iPod. 😀

there’s this fic, I’m currently reading where Hook and charming have a mini fight about who’s best to teach Emma sword fighting lessons.

ParticipantThat would make a very big mess of things, though. 😆

ParticipantI like that scenario too.

I think Charming represents the ideal father. He loves his family and will fight for them. He’s always there for his family and will always try to help those in need. He is a positive male role model, brave and understanding.
Rumple represents the father with the addiction. Rumple loves Bae but his addiction to magic means Bae is sometimes second best. Bae remembers Rumple before his addiction took hold and he wants Rumple to go back to the man he was before magic. Rumple travelled to find Bae to reunite and make amends for letting Bae go through the portal alone. However Rumple’s solution to all the hurt was to want to use magic to turn Bae back into a 14 year old boy and effectively erase all the mistakes rather than learn from them. Belle represents a second chance for Rumple. She inspires him to want to sort his life out and be the best he can be. It was to her that Rumple admitted his reliance on magic and that is the first step in overcoming an addiction, admitting you have a problem.
I totally agree.

I think Bae may make the mistake of trying to be Henry’s friend rather than his father. Bae has been absent from Henry’s life for so long that he may feel that he doesn’t have the authority to discipline Henry. Likewise with Emma, she has only been Henry’s mother for a short while and she still learning how to do that. Whenever Henry’s acted out, such as the dynamite incident, he’s never had to deal with any consequences as a result of his actions. Everyone has sort of just let it go. Regina, who would’ve had to discipline Henry when he was growing up, now feels that she is in competition with Emma for Henry’s affections. Regina may feel reluctant to discipline Henry for any bad behaviour in case it make Henry like Emma more than her.
All three parents want to be the “fun” one for Henry but are reluctant to take on the “bad guy” role. This could result in Henry turning into a problem teenager when he grows up as a result of not learning that his actions have consequences.
I agree.

ParticipantI love Rumpel. He’s always been there for Bae (except for that time he broke his promise to go with him through the green portal of doom to our world). But everything he does, post-Milah’s leaving and post-Bae’s leaving, is for him. He created the Dark curse for him, so he could come to our world and find him.
Some of his actions maybe he questionable, but he loves his son and the scene of baby Bae playing with Rumpel’s nose in Manhattan, too cute!
I’m actually curious about Hook’s father and wonder if we will ever meet him in the future. A lot of fans have speculated that his daddy is Davy Jones and maybe he is, but I would love a different take.
