How did you guys feel about OUAT’s interpretation of Jack? I thought it was an interesting twist to make her a woman, but then again, they also made Ruby the Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood.

My honest interpretation? I really disliked her. A lot. Useless character that I never want to see again, I don’t need a flashback of her, I don’t need her story, just let her be dead. The twist that she was a woman was fine, but not nearly as exciting as Red being the Wolf. Tiny was one of my least favorite episodes this season (I think I ranked it right behind S, B and T) because the flashbacks were so flat and dull and predictable (also didn’t like the SB stuff. The only good part of that episode was the Rumple, Emma, and Henry stuff). I’m all for strong femme fatale’s but she was annoying and pointless. She also bears my name so my interpretation might be a little personal. 😆 😉

    I guess I agree too.

For me, meeting Jack only proved that jerks attract jerks. I was shocked at first when Prince James abandoned her atop the bean stalk after she was poisoned and then I remembered, “Wait a minute. This is King George’s son, the biggest jerk in all of fairytale land. No need to be 😯 here.” 😆 We didn’t learn so much about her character except that she’s just as devious and selfish as original Prince James.

Thank goodness Snow married David. I think if she were betrothed to James, she might be stand him for a bit and then probably would demand an annulment. 😆

I liked the metaphor though, physical tiny vs. psychological tiny and it was good to finally learn Charming’s real name.

I’ve seen these posts on tumblr that ST fans want Hook with Regina, just so Emma can be with Neal. Seriously. That would be a horrible pairing, not to mention that Hook has now shown ANY romantic interest towards Regina at all this season. And yet, they still ‘ship it because that will make Emma free for Neal. I’m like, that is not the reason why you ‘ship a couple.

I’ve ‘shipped couples for a long time, and usually, there are pretty valid reasons to root for one ‘ship over the other. But to ship Hook with Regina just so make your OTP possible is a horrible reason.

Not once does Neal say they were meant to be together FOREVER, but that “something good came from us being together” – aka, past tense. He was also pretty quick to tell Emma to get out of her deal with Rumple and lie about finding Neal so that she’d never have to see him again (and moreso that Rumple wouldn’t find him…) Does that sound like a man who is thrilled to have the “love of his life” in front of him again? Is he remotely fighting to get her to stay with him? NO. He is telling her to run away fast and that had he known who she was he never would have gone near her.

This goes back to the idea that all of Neal’s stuff relates to the PAST and Hook’s language focuses on the FUTURE.

I think it’s very important note about the language used in reference to Hook and Neal. Language and the words writers use can tell/show us a lot about their respective characters. It’s like what I was saying before about Neal representing a part of Emma’s childhood but Hook is her future.

It’s not coincidental when you look at the story format of Tallahassee and Snow Falls, both episodes show past/present (Snow meeting charming vs. MM & David’s struggle to stay away from each other in the present / Emma’s past with Neal and her relationship with Hook in the present).

I’m working on analysis post regarding Fighting for True Love, which will eventually delve into Emma/Neal and Emma/Hook and why Hook is better for Emma in the end. Especially since ‘fighting for True Love’ has been a big theme since season one; you still see aspects of it from this past season.

They *could* try and do a triangle since they put Snowing in a triangle and it would parallel that a bit, but I really can’t see how she would ever go to Neal unless she felt it was out of obligation to try for Henry’s sake and even then it wouldn’t make her happy because she’s not that teenage girl anymore. She’s a strong, independent woman full of magic (which he hates), a family that wants to go to FTL to be together (which he hates) and she knows full well he never had any intention of coming to find her because he would have stayed away from her had he known who she was / wanted to marry someone else who then tried to kill him and kidnap their son. Those are not things that Emma can just forget, at least not the way she’s been written so far.

If they insist on going the obligation route, other than me throwing things, it better be over fast and just be another way of paralleling CaptainSwan with Snowing. After all, David felt obligated to stay with Kathryn but was still drawn to MM so it wouldn’t *surprise* me if they did that, especially with Henry and Rumple shipping SF so much, but I really hope they address the fact that Henry should be happy having everyone he loves in his life and that sometimes, in the real world, parents don’t end up together but they can still get along for his sake. If this were JUST fairy tales in FTL, I could see people’s point about them being meant to be for Henry’s sake and how sweet it is that their kid is bringing them back together etc etc. But these are fairy tale characters INFLUENCED by the real world, none of them moreso than Emma, and she better than anyone knows that life isn’t always like a fairytale.

    Yes!

As someone posted on tumblr and I quoted here a few pages ago:

Hook coming back was a CHOICE.
Neal being alive is a status of being.

Another one I saw also on tumblr, Henry’s a souvenir.

Emma did declare she loved Neal as he did to her as he was falling through the portal. Also there are the unresolved feelings that Neal and Emma still have for one another from their relationship years ago.

Actually, I think the beach scene tied up nicely where their relationship went south. As for the “I love you” over the portal, he was dying and thought, it was something he needed to hear to get him to stay. But it didn’t work and he let go of her hand.

I agree that Emma and Neal shouldn’t be forced together just for Henry’s sake. I don’t think Emma and Neal are going to be reunited until at least halfway through season 3.

    Yes.

Emma believes Neal to be dead so she’s going to need time to come to terms with Neal’s “death” and feel comfortable about moving on with Hook before Neal turns her world upside down by turning up alive. Emma is probably going to feel conflicted between Hook and Neal for the second half of season 3 but will probably decide to be with Neal for Henry’s sake. This will probably leave Hook heartbroken and he may slide back to the evil side for a while. Come season 4, Emma will realise that her relationship with Neal is not working out the way she hoped and she can’t stop thinking about Hook. Hook has “moved on” with someone else and Emma will feel upset that Hook is with someone else but can’t blame him because she did choose Neal over him. However, Hook still loves Emma but he’s also hurting over Emma choosing Neal over him so you have both Emma and Hook still in love with each other but not able to tell the other about how they feel.

I watch soap operas too and this scenario, sounds too soapy for me. I don’t want Hook to be evil again. I think, when he came back from the finale, Hook is no more. He’s Killian again.

I don’t think it’ll be a difficult choice to make.

She hasn’t shown any romantic interest in Neal since he came back. The only thing that ties them together is Henry, but I hate this thing on TV, where characters try to make a happy relationship for the sake of the kid and it just ends up backfiring because neither are really invested in the relationship.

I hope that doesn’t happen on Once. If Emma wanted to be with Neal, it would have happened.

    It is very sickening.

I hate to say it, but what happens online, even if you’re not talking directly face to face to a person, it makes an impression. Like I don’t understand how some people still cannot grasp this concept.

What if I met you offline and remembered some of the awful things you did online and assumed that’s who you are in real life (when actually you’re a very nice person in reality)? How would that make you feel?

Not very good. That’s why compassion towards other people, even online, counts.
