ParticipantAlso, if you watch episodes on hulu, there’s a “transcript” feature where you can copy and paste stuff as it comes up.

There is a photo of Pinocchio (as a real boy) working with his father, Gepetto, in their workshop. Remember Gepetto made the enchanted wardrobe that spirited Emma away, and protected her from EQ’s Dark Curse. I believe Pinocchio fell asleep (or Gepetto hid him inside–a father’s love, you know!) in the wardrobe and went along with Emma to safety.
Right there, that is something Jiminy would have advised Gepetto against because it was only supposed to be Emma in the wardrobe.

Is anyone else concerned about Belle’s current mental state? Aside from the obvious dilemma of her being in an asylum, I have a feeling she may be brainwashed. 😯 I think Regina may have brainwashed Belle to hate Rumpel. But then again, that wouldn’t make much sense.
I read a fanfic about this awhile back on livejournal and it would make sense for Regina to brainwash Belle into hating Mr. Gold because there are no happy endings in Storybrooke. We all know how selfish Regina is — I could see her making sure even her “frenemy” Mr. Gold doesn’t get his happy ending.

ParticipantThere is ‘magical’ power and than ‘authoritative’ power and in FT flashbacks (before the curse), Regina has both. But if she is so powerful though, why does she need to continually steal ‘things’ from other people in order to exact her revenge against Snow White? (i.e getting Hansel & Gretel to steal the poisoned apple from the blind witch).

I believe Rumpel can see something of the future. I re-watched the pilot again the other night with my husband who is starting to watch because I talk about the show so much. In the cave when Snow and Charming visited him he seemed to have to work hard to see the future — he squished his eyes and screwed up his face in an effort to see that it would be on her 28th that she would save them. He didn’t know that by normal means. Snow wanted to go to him because she believed he could see the future, she says so. So, I would say he sees some things. I don’t know if he can see everything. Maybe just enough to manipulate, or maybe what he tries to see. If he doesn’t try, he doesn’t know.
And I do remember Rumpel/ Mr. Gold saying something about emotions “blinding” people from seeing clearly. I think I have seen that more than once, like someone else said it… maybe Sydney
You mean when Snow and Charming visited him while he was still in prison? No, I think that was an ‘act’ — a performance like when he visited Shepherd James on his mother’s farm. I think, because Rumple made the curse, he wrote it in somehow that Charming & Snow’s child when she turns 28 will come back and save them all. Making it more of a condition of breaking the curse, than actually seeing the future.
Plus, Snow believed that he could see the future. that’s different than him actually knowing the future. it’ll be interesting to see how the writers differentiate myth from fiction when it comes to what Rumpelstiltskin can and cannot do in the series.

I can’t stand it anymore!!! For the love of ice cream, please just tell me who the heck August is already!! It is driving me absolutely bonkers!!!
I just realized I have spent a good portion of the last month on my life doing copious amounts of research trying to figure out the “true” fictional identity of a fictional character on a television show. In the process I have learned more than I ever wanted to know about Lemurs, the land of Nepal, the Grimm Brothers and anyone and everyone who may or may not have assisted them in writing and/or compiling their fairy tales, every possible variation of the stories of Pinocchio, Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, and the Wizard of Oz. I’ve done math problems to determine whether he could be a 7 year old boy who found Emma on the side of the road, I’ve theorized on the meaning of the license plate on his motorcycle, the reason he only drinks water, I’ve tried to determine whether he could have had red hair as a child . . .the list goes on and on And still . . . nothing. I’m going crazy here.
😆 All I can say is that you are a very through, dedicated and excellent researcher 😀 and you’re awesome for dedicating so much time to figuring out who August is. 😀
I think August is the 7 year old local boy who found Emma, emphasis on “local.” I don’t think he’s from fairytale land either. I actually wrote a tumblr blog post about it.

ParticipantI actually had the opposite impression of that scene. I mean, the nurse said no one comes to see her, ever. I guess Regina comes in to check up on Belle from time to time but doesn’t make a daily routine of it. So maybe that was the first time Regina came to see Belle?
It all hangs on whether Belle actually remembers or not because we still don’t know if she does. But in all likelihood, since she is in an insane asylum, so she probably remembers something. But what is that something she remembers?
On True Love’s kiss, I’m not entirely convinced if Belle and Gold kiss in Storybrooke, that will break his curse. I mean, we haven’t really seen Gold use magic. So maybe they can kiss without repercussions. 😀
which is good for me since I am a rumpbelle ‘shipper. -
