Participantif you haven’t heard already, robertcarlyle_ is on twitter 😮
and he did a really nice thing last night. he sat down and took questions for an hour via tweets.
so, I asked him:
@robertcarlyle_ There's been a lot of discussion about whether Rumple is evil, neutral or good, or maybe somewhere in-between.

@robertcarlyle_ Is Rumple evil? How would you rate him?
— obisgirl (@_obisgirl) February 21, 2012
and HE RESPONDED!
@_obisgirl a character should never be easy to unravel
I wasn’t expecting a direct answer, but still…my boyfriend who happened to be with me when I read his response, said ‘that is such a Rumpelstiltskin’ way to respond.

ParticipantI did a general google name search for Baelfire. The name has many fantasy connotations attached to it. It’s the name of a Paranormal Investigation, there’s something called the Baelfire Blade, Baelfire jewelry, and even a fanfiction author.

ParticipantI think it might have been.

ParticipantI think the tall hired muscle working for Gold was the red guard from ‘The Thing that You Love the Most.’ In that scene where the Evil Queen summoned all the evil souls to enact the curse.

We just haven’t seen many peasants in the present day fairtyale land. We have mostly seen the royal families so we haven’t really gotten a good look at the difference.
that’s true.

What I find really funny about Gaston was that he waited a couple of months till he tried rescuing Belle. I assume he was practicing his entrance.
😆 😆 😆 I do not doubt this. It would be completely in character for Gaston to think about how to make his entrance over how he should rescue Belle. 😆

Hehe, I only made the comment about the clothes not being German, ’cause I am. ;P
The design is based on the Jägerhut (hunting hat) or Trachtenhut (traditional clothes hat) which are part of the traditional clothes of the regions of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria (both in the south of Germany). They may have some special name in the different dialects, but I couldn’t find any.
I liked the touch with the hat, especially since the Grimm brothers come from Baden-Württemberg and the Black Forrest was the inspiration for the forests in their stories. 😀
Nice ! 😀
I knew the hat was called something special. 😀

I looked at the still photo, and I can see how the queen’s outfit coul be german. You can google “images of german hats” and hats that look similar to the queen’s will pop up. I think that the writers did try to make her look german because Hansel and Gretel were german in the origional fairytales.
I’m thinking that too. I studied the dress a bit more and I think, the top part is separate from the dress, like a leather wrap.

ParticipantI think it was mentioned on this podcast that King George, was probably inspired by real Saint George, who promised the people of a village that he would slay a dragon if the people promised to convert to Christianity.

ParticipantThis occurred to me last night. I’m filipino and I have real aunts and uncles but it’s also tradition to call close elders who aren’t necessarily your aunts and uncles, auntie or uncle as a sign of respect. I wonder if it’s the same in FT land. The guard called Belle’s father sir but that could also be a sign of respect.
Either Gaston was actually knighted or noble enough that people referred to him as ‘sir.’ Just a thought.

Participantthat would be awesome 😀
