To answer the question in the OP, it seems that they all are going back to the Enchanted Forest so that they are separate from Emma and Henry (because he is not from EF). They are probably in the hat to look for a way back to our world . (And if there is a way in that direction via the hat then why did Rumple want Regina to cast the curse?? And anyway, I thought the hat was destroyed in season 2 or something???).
I can think of three possible reasons why the Black Fairy might separate Emma and her family even though being with them just spiritually seems to strengthen her.
1) It could be that Emma needs to remember them or at least believe in them and in herself for the song in her heart to be awakened. Perhaps part of the BF’s curse is causing Emma to forget who she is and who her family is, or maybe it wipes out the belief in herself and in her family. If the family are physically separate, there would be no means of jogging her memory or having her believe again. After all, why would she believe just Henry? (Assuming that she is not in the story book, or they too are physically separate in SB for a while preventing Henry from showing her the pages with her in it).
2) The song in her heart is not enough to protect her and her family (though it might help enormously). She needs physical help from her family to defeat the Black Fairy.
3) Before Emma revealed the song in her heart, the BF had already cast the curse and had set a timer on it, and maybe the timer is irreversible.

onceaholicParticipantWhy does she need to kill anyone? The prophesy was about Rumple being a savior and being killed by the crescent moon evil person to save the children. The prophesy ended when she cut Rumple’s fate so why does she need to fight any savior? Like I said her motivations are completely squirly and make no sense.
also @Rumplesgirl
The Black Fairy wants to kill to protect her family. In her conversation with Rumple, she said that her family (and implied all the future generations to come) are fated to become villains no matter how hard they try not to be, they are fated to suffer, because that’ the way the story goes. So by getting rid of those whom fate designated as ”saviours” or the ”good guys” then the removal of a nemesis means that she and her family and their future generations will no longer be designated as villains no matter how good they are. Instead, her family can stay together and can have a chance at happy endings through their good deeds, rather suffering anyway (and becoming villains) despite their good deeds.
Meanwhile, just because she prevented Rumple from killing her (so that her family doesn’t need to be divided), doesn’t mean that another saviour won’t appear. If fate has designated her and her family as villians, then to have a story there most also be ”heroes”/saviours. The Black Fairy knew this and just assumed their would be another saviour to replace Rumple at some point.
(I also think she created the dark curse to lure out the saviour to kill her and protect her family).

Points lost for
…no explanation given for why Fiona was able to turn herself into a fairy. Just ”that’s impossible” and disbelief.
…it’s supposed to be a dream world, not ”lost memories world.” how do we even know that what Rumple saw was accurate if it is a dream rather than a memory?
It was interesting to see that Rumple was destined to kill his mother as the original savior. But why would fate do this to this family? Can’t really blame them for wanting to make things better for themselves and future generations.
And, as I said a few weeks ago, it means that the characters’ choices do not affect their lives much; it’s all about destiny or fate. Hence why Regina no matter what she does, is always shat upon. This show doesn’t provide much hope, I have to say. This is another reason why it lost points from me today.
One more thing….Snowing did a horrible thing to protect Emma. They put her evilness inside another child/dragon. Yet their hearts didn’t darken from it and they remained heroes. This really irks me. It seems that Snowing are destined to remain heroes no matter what they do, too.

onceaholicParticipantSo black Fairy and Gideon pose as Snow and Charming in order to kidnap Blue. Yeah.
This is what I got also
Keeper of Regina's bravery
onceaholicParticipantDo we know when that pic was taken? Cause filming has fully wrapped.
Yeah, I suspect it is from the musical episode. If not, then the black magic during the Final Battle turns them evil temporarily???
Keeper of Regina's bravery
onceaholicParticipantSo the musical episode takes place present day. We can see Regina singing and dancing with granny standing in the background and Hook and his pirates doing their thing in a tavern with Snowing. So…yeah, okay. Also, I’m disappointed because I thought the musical episode was up next :/ sheesh.
Yes, I have just noticed that ”EQ” is in SB for that song….the singing spell/curse turns her into EQ???
Or maybe they all have to sing to get all the painful emotions out so that they are squeaky clean and ready for the final battle? Maybe if they have all worked through some nasty emotions, then there will be nothing left for the Black Fairy to use/use against them??
I can’t wrap my head around the singing being at widely different points in the timeline, though

onceaholicParticipantIf there is a season 7, and Zelena is in it, then I guess she will find a way to get her magic back and thus remain a compelling character. Otherwise, she might be one the deaths in the Final Battle.
Keeper of Regina's bravery
onceaholicParticipantI have a feeling that she was going to use Zelena’s magic in the crystals for something banal such as using Zelena’s magic to power the crystals to make a magic ”bomb” (due to Zelena’s magic containing deep pain and instability) to rid all the realms of white magic. Maybe she thinks all the realms would better off without the likes of the Blue Fairy (if the BF made her give up her son) because to her, maybe Black Magic means freedom, no silly rules to follow.

Regina AND the EQ are singing…should be fun, as long as the songs are at the lower register like Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago.
Is Jared’s voice really ready for singing? I am not sure if it has settled down yet.

It was nice to see Zelena do something heroic.
I felt that it was a bit much for Regina to tell Zelena to go back to Oz just because she tried to save everyone from the Black Fairy and made a mess of it.
Did I blink and miss the part when Zelena says the Black Fairy is threatening her baby? It was in the promo but not in the episode????
