I don’t know, I felt like it was a case where they didn’t have enough time to develop more for their reunion, and just tacked it on to the beginning of this episode. Like, I would have thought that Eric would have asked about why Ariel stood him up, instead of just instantly kissing her without even saying much. I’m glad they at least showed the reunion, rather than having them already reunited offscreen.
I wished they had talked instead of just kissed. In my head I pictured: Ariel: “I’m sorry I hurt you Eric. But I’m a mermaid.” Eric: “I know. There’s a movie about us” Ariel: “What’s a movie?” (parallel to 301)
After reading this, I seriously wish you had written that scene for the show RG! 🙂
[adrotate group="5"]oncemusicfanParticipantI thought the first part was him giving Emma and Neal a chance for the sake of Henry. I think his plan is to let her see who she’ll be happier with on her own. The part with Tink was two things for me, one helping himself take his mind off of Emma and secondly maybe trying to make Emma a little jealous.
I like the idea of him letting Emma see who she’ll be happier with on her own. I really do believe she’ll realize that she and Neal aren’t right for each other anymore. The Tink thing…I totally understand him wanting to take his mind off Emma, but I was hoping he’d have a little more faith that things are going to work out between them in the end. I thought he’d wait patiently since he said he’s in it for the long haul. If things had actually escalated with Hook and Tink, I would have been SO disappointed with the writers. I’m glad it didn’t though.
oncemusicfanParticipantUpon further reflection on the scene with Hook and Tink, I’m actually more than a bit frustrated. It makes me very upset with Hook. I felt sorry for him in that moment because I think it was a low point, but seriously, that was not ok. Hopefully nothing like that ever happens again. I wish CS would just happen already. It’s SO tough to watch Hook make terrible choices out of the pain he’s feeling.
oncemusicfanParticipantI’m not sure where to begin with my thoughts on CS this episode. I was honestly SO confused! I felt so many different emotions throughout the entire episode. Overall, I thought it was an exciting episode and I enjoyed it, but the CS storyline is making me sad right now.
At first, the “agreement” between Hook and Neal seemed to me like Hook basically giving up. I thought it seemed to be completely opposite of his statement that “a man unwilling to fight for what he wants, deserves what he gets.” But then I realized that it could actually be a good thing. Maybe Emma will give Neal a try only to realize that they’re not right for each other anymore? I also thought that maybe Hook is terrified of getting rejected and wants Emma to be the one to let HIM know that she wants him. Or maybe he really did think that he was being the better man by giving Henry a chance to let his parents try to work things out if they can? I really don’t know and it’s a bit frustrating.
Snowing keeps pushing Emma toward Neal and I don’t know how I feel about that. If I thought that was what she TRULY wanted, then I’d have to accept it. But, I’m not sure of that at ALL. And EMMA was the one who mentioned Hook to Charming asking if pushing her toward Neal had anything to do with keeping her away from Hook. That has to mean something, right?
The scene with Tink….I think Hook was trying desperately to get over the pain of thinking he’d lost Emma forever. He may have seemed confident that he would win Emma’s heart in Neverland, but maybe he really believed in that moment that she would pick Neal over him for good. He tried to use that incident to make Emma jealous, so obviously he is hurting in a big way. Let’s not forget just how deeply he loves. I felt frustrated with him a little, but also sorry for him at the same time.
The promo has a CS moment that looks emotional. I can’t WAIT to see that scene! Maybe it will turn things around for them. I hope so.

Of course you won’t get laughed at!! they’re the “essays” from tumblr that obisgirl and I post here occasionally. The essays about CS, or Neal etc. I’m not sure where the word comes from though.
Meta is a Greek word indicating a concept which is an abstraction from another concept, used to complete or add to the latter.
Got it! Thanks guys! 🙂
oncemusicfanParticipantyeah. I brought my Mac with me, so when I could, I’d work on my meta. I have a feeling once I watch Once, I might re-write one of the sections.
I know I might get laughed at for this…but what exactly is a meta?
oncemusicfanParticipantSnow has been a crappy parent this season IMO and Neal has repeatedly dismissed Emma’s instincts.
While I share your frustration and completely agree about Neal and his dismissal of Emma’s intuition, I don’t think Snow has been that bad of a parent this season. I think she has made some mistakes with Emma, like not trusting her when she definitely should have. I think she’s not as perceptive to what is going on in Emma’s heart and mind as she was when she was just Mary Margaret. I think a small divide grew between Snow and Emma when the curse was broken. Their relationship changed and they weren’t entirely sure how to navigate it anymore. However, Snow made some progress when she heard Hook’s confession in the Echo Caves. She seemed to realize a bit more of what was happening with that situation and warned Emma to be careful with both Neal and Hook. It’s obvious Snow loves Emma very much, but in her defense, she’s struggling to truly get to know her as her daughter. I sincerely hope that Snow has learned to trust Emma’s instincts a little more now. But if it is indeed Snow who is one of those around Emma that doesn’t trust her instincts again, I hope that when Snow realizes she’s been wrong not to have faith in Emma, that it will be a turning point for the better in their relationship. And you’re right about Hook. I strongly doubt that it’s him who doesn’t have faith in her. Hook believes in Emma wholeheartedly and will continue to do so.
oncemusicfanParticipantI KNOW AND I’M FLAILING PRAYER CIRCLE FOR CS PARALLELS
This is great! Haha! 🙂
oncemusicfanParticipantAnd as for the Captain Swan is Sexy and Fun… no kidding… but its not all fluff and lust. This man has spent 300 years trying to avenge his lost love. That puts even Charming’s dedication to shame. We all know there is meaning in CS… all the wonderful posts with examples proving it.
I just had to say how much I AGREE with this! CS definitely has depth, and it is very obvious to many of us watching the show. If they didn’t, I wouldn’t ship them at all. I think the writers and actors have done a wonderful job at showing the depth of these characters and the CS relationship so far.
oncemusicfanParticipantOk, so I finally have time to write my thoughts on this episode! Overall, I really enjoyed it!
I loved all of the parent/child moments between many of our main characters. (Rumple/Neal, Regina/Henry, Charming/Emma.) Really great to see! I really started to appreciate Neal as a character a little more this episode, especially in relation to Rumple. They had a nice moment.
And of course, I loved the AS YOU WISH line from Hook. I was not expecting to hear that again, so it really reinforces that there is STILL something there, at least on Hook’s end. Also, when I first watched the episode I didn’t notice the way Emma looked for Hook when Neal was talking to her, so that was a really nice detail to see when I watched it later. It’s great that even in an episode that isn’t CS-centric, we are still given some small CS moments/nods. I really do believe they are a TL pairing, so it will be interesting to see if that belief holds up to be true as the season continues.
Eala brings up some great points about the talk between Neal and Rumple that I hadn’t realized. Neal does mention that the difference between Rumple and Malcolm/Pan is that Rumple actually came looking for Bae after he abandoned him. In regards to the one person Neal abandoned (Emma), Neal never went looking for her after he left her to go to jail. So, that’s VERY interesting to me. I’m not seeing any TL signs when it comes to these two. The show has established a few rules for what makes TL and I just haven’t seen any of these rules followed by Neal and Emma. I try to keep an open mind, so maybe I’m wrong about that. Honestly though, I doubt it.
This may be a crazy thought, but when the Darling Brothers were attempting to adopt Henry, I wondered in Pan was behind more than just that. I wondered if maybe he was behind EVERYTHING leading up to Henry being born (AKA: Swanfire meeting each other and having Henry.) Maybe instead of Emma and Neal meeting by chance, it was just Peter Pan contriving the whole thing. Just a thought.
