ParticipantYeah, it seems like they would already be in pretty deep trouble if they didn’t have the rights.

ParticipantYou may be right, because I don’t see how they could have used Captain Hook either, if they didn’t have the rights to Peter Pan. Then again, his name is Killian Jones, not “James Hook” as is canon. So either they have the rights now to Peter Pan, or they’re daring to graze the borderline for what is legal. If they can’t literally use “Peter Pan”, I think a character will probably be like Peter Pan — I think he will be at least, Peter-esque. Peter Pan will still be included into all this, in some way. It could be Neal, or I really love the idea of Hook being both Peter, and Captain Hook. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
That new clue is definitely interesting, but from what I saw from K&H in “Lost”, they do sometimes throw stuff out there (viral techniques) to throw the viewer off scent (I think that might be something they learned from JJ Abrams,. A lot of stuff like that was used in marketing his first Star Trek movie). I do not believe that was by accident, but whether or not it’s any indication of anything, it does keep things interesting.

ParticipantI think Hook is scared of her, too. I think he gave a lot of indication of that in FTL. If they kill off Archie and Cora is the one who does it (I don’t think Hook will have a hand in that. He has another iron in the fire), and Emma helps Regina get off the hook (no pun intended), Emma and Regina will probably team up to defeat Cora. Hook will turn on her. Maybe that’s an element that will break the ice between him, and Emma. It’ll be interesting to see how Neal will fit into all this, but my instincts are telling me that Regina (being Regina) will use Neal against Emma, in some way. She wants Henry, and Neal is Henry’s father. She’ll be up to no good, and at some point, I think she’ll use Neal to get what she wants.

ParticipantWell, spoilers have said that the Charmings will be betrayed by somebody who we thought we could trust. The Blue Fairy has been floated, but it is possible that it’s somebody else. I hope it isn’t Red or Archie.

ParticipantI like your theory. I doubt Neal has cleaned up his act, so it’d probably fit. It’s interesting to think about, that’s for sure.

ParticipantEither way, I still hope they do more with him than make him a villan. It’s too shallow a story for him to just be a bad guy, and stay that way. That doesn’t take much effort, imagination, or brain power. Honestly, I’d feel short-changed.
Hook definitely has the qualities needed for him to be Emma’s Charming. He’ll have to definitely learn how to let some stuff go, though. It’ll take a long time, but this character will have to learn how to forgive people who hurt him. It won’t be limited to Rumpelstiltskin,. He’ll have to give grace to people, who he really hates; whether they do the same for him, or not. It’ll be hard to do that, but he’ll come out better for it, and so will the story.

ParticipantIf he thought she were protecting Rumpel, then in his mind, would she be any better than him? That’s the reasoning I put into that. I’m still confused by why he would just randomly want to kill her for being of no use to him. Hook puts calculation into everything he does. He’s not the type to lash out with his emotions like that.
I really hope they’ll gradually redeem Hook though, from a villan to a good guy. It’d have to take a long time for them to do it, but it could be a great story. He’ll have to bury his axes, and it’ll take a lot of time and perspective to convince him it’s worthwhile to do that. The events that teach that perspective are where the story comes from. Namely, I hope, Emma.

ParticipantOh, that’s right! I had forgotten about that! So, no more magical Hook. That’s not a bad thing.

ParticipantA prediction: At some point, Emma and Hook join alliances to find Cora’s heart and destroy it….before she destroys Storybrooke. That lady’s a loose cannon.

ParticipantHook never intended to kill Aurora. He is a chess player and she was expendable to his own purposes, but he has least has a sense of honor. Otherwise, he would have let her heart go through that portal, and wouldn’t have taken the time or effort to save it (and give it back).
As for Belle: I don’t know, but I still don’t think his getting ready to “hook” Belle was a random act, and he’s not the type to let his emotions lead him into poortly thought-out acts of foolishness. It had reason behind it. But, what was it? I don’t think Belle is a villan by any means of the word, but I do have to wonder if there may be more to her, than meets the eye.
I do think though, that he already knew Belle was important to RS. That being the case, is that why he wanted to kill her? An eye, for an eye? Or, was it because he believed she was protecting RS, and was going to be an inhibitor to the justice he wanted for Milah?
There’s still a lot to learn here, folks.
