Has anyone here heard the term “Redshirt”? ….
This is a wonderful post (on page 1). Myril is exactly right. I know what a redshirt is. Once Upon A Time is full of them. I still hope Hook isn’t one. Nobody likes to be teased; putting a juicy steak under someone’s nose, and then ripping it away when they want to take a bite. They’ve barely done anything with Hook yet and as for me, I don’t like being pulled around by a ring in my nose. With the reception he’s received (especially in social media), killing him off won’t just take a way from the story. It’ll take away from the viewers. To ignore that, would be boorish.
To Myril: Glad to see someone else here appreciates Star Trek. Live long, and prosper.

ParticipantHere’s my theory. I think Smee ends up being the real evil villan where Hook is concerned. I think it’ll end up being that Smee is a psychological manipulator. He will use Milah’s death to manipulate Hook the way he wants for his own purposes. I think Smee will have been able to maniputlate Hook into hating people as being justification for doing some terrible things and in the interim, ends up being the reason for the emnity between Hook and Peter Pan (providing that Peter Pan doesn’t end up being Hook’s own alter-ego, which has occurred to me as a possibility. If not, I think Peter is either Baelfire, or Neal).

ParticipantI think Hook knows, or will find out where her heart is. I think he’ll end up being the one who destroys it. I just hope his doing so won’t be at the cost of Hook. It’d be our loss, too. 🙁

ParticipantYeah, I’ve stopped posting on the topic. Thanks.

ParticipantThere’s too much death. Good writers can find more than one way to direct story telling. Yes, sometimes this may be necessary. This should be a rarity, though. So much death is a sign of lacking imagination. There are other ways.

ParticipantThe reason I disagree with that, is because it’s all been done before. “The Villan”, and “The Good Guy” are seen all the time. There’s so much potential with what the writers could do with hook…..I want them to use more imagination with this.
I saw a post on ABC’s board, and the poster was exactly right. There’s talk about people who want to see villans with villans, and good folks with good folks. Hook + Regina. Can you say Boris and Natasha (Bullwinkle)?
It’d be booring for Hook to remain a stereotypical villan. It’d be a shame not to use more imagination than that. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

ParticipantRome was oppressed by Nero. He was evil, yes, a madman, yes, but he was also a narcisist. Read up on Nero, his personality traits, and the consequences that had for Rome. Remember: Eventually, Rome fell. Not directly because of Nero, but he was a symptom of the ancient Rome’s faults, which eventually led to ancient Rome’s demise.
If more people took an interest in their history, and learned it’s lessons, this world would be a much better place, with much better people. Sadly, my point is that I’m seeing history repeat itself. Not just in this situation, but here in America with an “it’s all about me” mind set.
As it applies to this situation, though: Someone who is in an influential position (such as a show’s writer) who aims his/her goals away from success, and instead toward a treadmill of futility; the preference for one’s own vain imagination even in the face of failure is very selfish, and is also foolish.
Sorry, if I sound like a nerd. I love history.

ParticipantOk. No O’Donoghue filming past 2×11, and now we have Cora on the scene. This almost confirms it for me. It’s not Hook in SB. It’s Cora, posing as him; an imposter.

ParticipantI haven’t heard anymore filming news about O’Donoghue since these shots were released. Is 2×11 where Hook is killed, or something? It doesn’t sound like CO’s done anymore filming past this point.
