Participant@Slurpeez, Ok yeah I’m on board with grey areas and people having both good and bad inside them, but I find labeling Eva and Neal ‘villains’ or ‘dark’ too much. It’s too heavy and too out of proportion with their actions (and life choices outside of the mistakes they made). At the same time, labeling Hook a hero is also out of proportion. Yes he helped get Henry back from NL, but being a hero means more than doing 1 good deed. I guess that’s my real issue with this, people aren’t being perceived according to the reality of things, but according to an idea around that reality.
Also AMEN! to this:
I’m sorry for my mistakes, but I’m not going to be a passive victim. I’m Snow White. I’m a queen. I have a job to do. Time to stop feeling sorry for myself.”

ParticipantI think they are more fascinated by the baddies than the goodies. For A and E the show became about the villains struggles and how “evil isn’t born, it’s made” which is a great concept but when you begin handing out bizarre moral messages like “truth is wrong and leaving a baby is okay” then I have to wonder if A and E have lost their way in their attempt to make bad sympathetic
Probably yeah. I can see how such a thing could happen. They are right in the middle of their creation. The audience can watch from the outside and sees these small things all bundling up to be one big thing that sends the wrong message. Perhaps they need to take a step back and view their own show as an audience member. Just sit down and watch your own episodes. I think that would help them a great deal in finding that balance between their villains and heroes.

ParticipantIt also really bothers me that Eva is “dark” for telling the truth, but no one brings up the fact that Cora left a baby in the woods. Not on a door step, not by the side of the road. But in the middle of a forest where no one would find her! And no one comments on how DARK that is.
We live in bizarre-o world, guys. You know at first I thought it was a fluke, or I was seeing things that were meant to be interpreted differently, but I honestly am confused about what message A&E are really trying to send. The baddies get away with murder, literally, and the good ones are instantly and severely punished if they step out of line. Eva=labeled dark, for outing Cora (granted in a bratty way, but it was the truth nonetheless). Neal=labeled a villain cause in his hundred+ years of living he ONCE succumbed to using dark magic and was then killed on top of that. And finally the thing that started this series, Snow forever beating herself up for giving away a secret, that honestly Cora would have eventually found out about with or without Snow’s help.
Setting aside my bitterness for a second and thinking that A&E only cheer for the baddies, what other possible reason could they have for writing the characters this way? I just don’t understand it. I mean yeah we all joke about how A&E are trolls and stuff, but I just don’t buy that they believe more in the bad guys than in the good guys. They are both Disney enthusiasts and Disney is all about sugary happiness, so then why are the goodies the only ones being punished (so far)? Are they saving all the good stuff for the series finale??

ParticipantOkay. It was brought to my intention that it was unclear – there was MO322 but no DO322 and what happened if we went left? I have attempted to clarify. The depot is MO322; we are hoping that we are not instead detoured to DO322. If so, right to sad town. If we are lucky enough to get MO322? Left to the SF houseboat of happiness.
Lurkers, never fear – I DO know this is not normal, sane adult behavior :p
This is THE loveliest thing ever!
And don’t worry,

ParticipantI don’t so much mean to apologize for my opinions as much as I do to give CS fans a heads up that they might not like what they’re going to read.
Hm, well yeah but venturing into a SF thread as a CSer should kinda tip ya off on that one right. I mean not that we’re all Hook/CS bashers here, far from it, but it’ll be likely that a CSer might read some stuff here that they don’t agree with. Same as SFers going into a CS thread.

ParticipantUhm this is a very good point that I wanted (but didn’t actually dare) to raise a couple of pages back. I’ve noticed we seem to do this a lot. We’re just too nice for our own good I suppose. But really, I guess we try not to hurt other people’s feelings?
So when we make our opinion known we feel the need to make a disclaimer of sorts to try and lessen the tensions, to remind everyone that our opinions are our own , we have a right to them, and that right doesn’t necessarily mean that anyone else is wrong. When we say that we’re trying to protect ourselves when someone comes back and throws our statements in our face, because at least then we can say “But I said it was my opinion, I didn’t say it was fact.”
Yeah sort of like trying to avoid a possible argument beforehand, with anyone who might view Hook/CS in a brighter light than some of us do.

ParticipantCan I ask an honest and open, snark-free question? Why do we apologize to CSers/Hook fans when we say something the slightest bit unfavorable? This thread is clearly marked as an Emma/Bae fan thread. When I arrived at the board and read the CS thread, I did not expect them to apologize for disliking Neal or SF… it was a thread clearly marked for discussing the Hook-Emma relationship. I went in with eyes open. Likewise, anyone who wants to lurk in here is certainly welcome, but it is no mystery what is contained within.
(Ok, ok, maybe it is if you are afraid of trains or bison. Perhaps we should be apologizing to the bison- phobic, hey?)
It really bothers me that folks feel the need to apologize for their opinions in a thread expressly designated for those opinions. I am not a Hook hater, but I sure will not apologize for posting my feelings about an unhealthy relationship between a heroine and a villain (no matter how grey those labels might be) in a thread that is clearly not designed to coddle those who support the pairing. Why do we feel the need to do that? This is the ONE safe space on the board – maybe the whole Internet – yet folks still feel guilty expressing their dislike?
(Not picking on you RG. I’ve seen it a few times lately, from various posters. It truly is an honest question.)

ParticipantThe ‘what else’ could refer to the fact that he was hiding stuff about meeting Ariel and letting her down in the end. Cause that still remains a secret since people are thinking he actually did help her find Eric. And so the ‘else’ is him casting the curse?? Btw, not sure how I feel about Hook dying just to get Neal back. I mean do we have to kill either one of the two for the other to be able to exist in the Once-verse? I guess it would all depend on if they do it right this time. But yeah I’m guessing the return will probably be Abigail
