April 7, 2014 at 6:40 am in reply to: 3X16 IT IS NOT EASY BEING GREEN. …. FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #259750OnyxParticipant
Liked:
– Regina and Robin, their scenes vaguely reminded me of how the show used to be. They talk here and they share some insight into their own characters, with each other and with us. I saw a trace of the old Regina, the one before Daniel and that made me feel reminiscent of the good old days.
– I gotta admit, the Emerald city looked quite beautiful. Very rich, is the way I would describe it. I liked it.
– Rebecca Mader’s performance. That fury was palpable.
Disliked:
– Well it’s not a very heavy dislike, but green with envy? That’s it? They sorta made it out to be this whole big thing. That there was more to it than we thought, but it really isn’t. It was exactly what we thought, nothing more nothing less.
– The Wizard turned into a flying monkey. Again, I just assumed there was more to it.
– Not another curse, not another curse, please! Calling it a second chance does not change the fact that lives are gonna be altered once again and I’m guessing this new cur… “second chance”, is gonna be a life without Regina, or at least one where Rumple chose Zelena instead. So that would mean we’re gonna watch season one all over again, but with Zelena as the caster of the curse??
On the fence:
– Hook and Henry, it’s too soon people! Too soon! Yet at the same time, it was good to see Hook express some real emotions for once.
– Zelena in love with Rumple, it’s icky and weird (and didn’t we already do this with Cora?), but I liked Rumple’s lines ‘I’m a perceptive sort’ and ‘It’s okay, I have that effect on women’.
I both liked and didn’t like the OQ stuff. I liked their conversations, I like seeing Regina have someone she can honestly talk to, I like that she literally gave him her heart, but I didn’t like how soon it happened after she’d discovered who he is. They’ve been saying that it will be hard for Regina to open up and let someone new in, and yet here she is 24 hours later, trusting him with her heart. I know she knows they’re destined, and I do like that aspect of their story, so maybe that’s how she’s justifying her actions, because she knows that destiny ensures that she can trust him, but I’m just not sure that I buy that she’d concede to trusting him that much so quickly, tattoo and pixie dust or no.
I don’t think it’s too soon. I’d rather not have her be like Emma and still hold on to her inability to deal with emotions. Regina’s had quite a journey before all this and I feel that she’s finally starting to realize that maybe she should stop being so afraid of happiness. She’s cautiously allowing herself to take a leap of faith with this guy. The fact that she knows about the soul mates thing indeed helps her let go of her fears enough to go for it. I think we witnessed some character development here.

OnyxParticipantYou guys… 🙁 The funeral. No one spoke up. No one said how much they’re gonna miss him or how much he meant to them. Which if one has hope could interpret as they can’t write that stuff because it’s not his actual real funeral and he’s coming back and then all the goodbyes would feel silly and they don’t want to “waste” powerful dialogue on something that’s soon to be reversed.
But uhm honestly I think the reason is the same as why we still don’t know all the finer details about a truck load of other stuff. Time. They had to have the great showdown, they had to have Zelena’s backstory. They just had to have a whole lot of other things happening, crammed in one episode and they simply didn’t take the time (even the damn wake was interrupted) for it. One would think, if not at the funeral then certainly at the wake people would express their feelings with more than silence and sad looks. Or am I too demanding?
Is it weird that I felt the most genuine Neal emotions in tonight’s episode (apart from Rumple, of course) came from Hook? If I didn’t feel as though those scenes were cynically setting up CS and stepdaddy Hook, I would have actually liked them unreservedly. Colin played it with a suitable amount of subdued guilt, and he actually for once seemed more concern with Bae’s legacy than anything ulterior involving Emma. I mean, I still think he’s a long way from being consistently written, but it’s something.
Is it bad that I actually kinda agree with this? It could be because Hook has the most to regret when it comes to Bae and once he did feel genuine affection for him, until he screwed it up (giving him to Pan). Everyone else didn’t really know that much about him.
And Rumple… don’t even get me started on him. 🙁

OnyxParticipantRG you’re kinda killing me here! I should really go and stop looking at… stuff, people are writing on twitter. Alright, I’m going. I’m going. See you all on the other side tomorrow.

OnyxParticipantThank you, I figure that after tonight’s ep we’ll all be in need of a hug. This is my way of giving it in advance.

OnyxParticipantThey haven’t really explained some of the finer points.
I’m realizing that this is kind of the motto of the show.
But for me, her love for Neal will never diminish in scope. And it will always be alive in Henry.
For me either, that’s actually what I was so ineloquently trying to say.

OnyxParticipantThat is something i dont understand, so that means that if charming or snow died they would have another true love to get their second chance at true love? I guess my understood of disney movies and fairytale stories is wrong, because in my mind you can always only have one true love, in romatic version, not talking about parents true love for their children, or i guess that their understood of true love is diferent from mine, in theirs is like a production line in a factory, like on product is damage , no biggie you will get another one to replace the other.
Well it just seems kinda odd to me that if your true love dies, then are you supposed to stay alone for the rest of your life, because you had one chance and one chance only? In a lifetime?
I think that if Emma finds love again with someone else, that doesn’t have to mean that what she had with Neal wasn’t true love. I mean why does it have to be a replacement? Why can’t it be equally powerful?
And your understanding isn’t wrong. It’s merely not the same as mine. People can have different opinions about something. Love is very subjective and everyone can feel differently about it. 🙂

OnyxParticipantI thought the idea was you can only have one true love at a time? So, Daniel was Regina’s TL. He’s gone, so RH (who already had his own TL, with Marian,) is her second chance at TL.
Oh I could’ve sworn that Rumpelstiltskin said it to someone once. That you can have only one true love. I could be remembering his words wrong, but I don’t think he specified that it should be one at a time.
Overall I’m always very fuzzy about the “rules” of love/true love in the OUAT universe.

OnyxParticipantI agree with that RG, im just stating what excuse they may use, i guess i just dont believe they respect anything about SF, and just choose the easy way to end it, is like we always thought that Daniel was regina true love, but on 303 we found out it wasnt, they even said that emma was a lot like regina in S1, so i guess i see them using that parallel of having emma finding someone else and say that he is emma true love and that neal was just love, although i must say that even if adam would say it and confirm true love, is not like something would change, like i say, after the show end, maybe i will give a try, if they surprise me with SF, if not i guess the blurays will continue hide.
The problem I always had with Once’s idea of true love is that you can only have one. One in all your life. As if your heart isn’t capable of loving someone with all its might twice. And that if you do find love again, the first time around your love wasn’t as strong or powerful or real as it apparently is now with your true love. I suppose that’s just a personal belief though.
We saw that Emma has true (platonic) love with Henry because it broke the first curse, but if we go by the ‘you can only have one’ thing, than Henry is supposed to be it for Emma?

OnyxParticipant@PriceofMagic: Ah yes, that could be part of it.
@RumplesGirl: Wow that’s actually pretty clever. I like that theory. If only the writers would take the time to actually come up with such explanations.Co-Mayor of Sad Town | Twin of Co-Mayor of Sad Town
