It’s clear Bobby didn’t like what the writers did to Neal and Rumple either, and that he isn’t a fan of Rumbelle. So Bobby probably just wants Rumple’s character to embrace the dark side completely and die so he can be freed from his contract to go pursue worthwhile acting endeavors.
RC doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would be into Rumbelle (maybe he even wants the new estrangement between them)…but are you just reading between the lines on that, or has he actually admitted it? I’m curious.

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantWeirdly enough, the CS relationship didn’t seem to effect things on Emma’s end… it was still Gold she turned to when her magic went all wonky. And I’m not sure how much of his crazy hat-sucking plan actually had to do with CS, honestly. It seemed more a crime of opportunity. But his motivations were so damn murky this season it’s hard to tell.
But if you can’t share an archenemy with your significant other, what can you share?

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantFrom a storytelling point of view, one has to ask: “is Rumplestiltskin interesting without the possibility of redemption?” Good money on ‘no.’ His great appeal relies heavily on the fact that, since the very beginning of the show, he’s flirted with both sides of the table. He has an uneasy codependence with all the major good/bad guys on the show.
Neal was the cause of a lot of personal conflict for him, because he wanted his son back but didn’t really want to “change” for him. Belle for most of the show has been pretty universally supportive of him. Now that Bae is dead, it seems as though the writers are essentially putting her in the position Bae previously occupied. She loves him but can’t be around him/deal with him as he is.
From getting filled in on events on the show second hand (as I don’t watch anymore) this actually doesn’t seem like the worst thing they could do with his character. Rumple needed to be HARDCORE dumped at least once by Belle for me to buy their future. And it could be kind of interesting seeing them on opposite sides for once.
If the writers want to make this work, they’ve got to have scheming Rumple having mournful villainous monologues with his estranged wife. They’ve got to play up the dysfunction and the “we both still care” long looks from across the hero/villain divide.
I don’t actually watch the show anymore, but I have a feeling Belle and Rumple are going to get the drawn out reconciliation story Rumple and Neal were SUPPOSED to have.

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantI’m only guessing since I haven’t been watching, but it seems like CS would basically destroy what little was left of the Golden Swan BrOTP by necessity. Because Emma can’t have an amicable relationship with Gold with Killian around, even if he is Henry’s grandpappy and Neal’s dad. And evil as heck, but that’s another story.

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantRumple coldly killing Emma seems really OOC.

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantI always knew that Rumple would go evil after Bae died, but I had hoped his motives would be more…Bae related. Is it wrong that I find estranged Rumbelle kind of intriguing? Maybe I’ll start watching again for “Mr and Mrs Gold.”
Did Bobby express regret about MRJ leaving the show? Really? Interesting.

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantBearing in mind I haven’t watched since 3×14 (I think? Or 15/16)…killing off Neal was just about the worst thing they could’ve done for Rumple. I always knew that, but this confirms it. Now he’s on a REVENGE quest? What is he, Regina?? That and the fact that he apparently spent all of S4A trying to get unchecked power is just…incredibly lame. It’s a Bond villain motive. What made him interesting was that there was a personal nature to his motivations.
Here’s the analogy I like to use: Rumple without Bae is Darth Vader without Luke Skywalker. Not particularly interesting!

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantHey guys! Haven’t been watching/cared for the last 6 months, but…I heard about the winter finale and Rumple getting his…posterior…dumped. Because he tried to kill Hook/rule the world? Am I understanding this correctly? This is gleaned from tumblr gifs mostly.

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantI just think about how all it takes is one drunken guest getting up at the open mic toasting section of a CS wedding reception and recollecting the time that Killian assaulted Emma and stabbed her son’s grandfather while she lay half unconscious on the ground of his sort of stepson who was also her child’s father’s apartment lobby…to ruin it. And I laugh.
I still haven’t watched the last four episodes, guys.

ouatrandothoughtsParticipantHey guys…I know I’ve been MIA for awhile, but I thought I’d just pop in and say ‘hey,’ see how ya’ll are doing, etc.
