ParticipantWe crashed to a new series low last night with a 0.7 demo and 2.61 million viewers. Half hours were 0.8/0.7, and oddly enough its lead-in AFV also crumbled to a 0.7. Easter next Sunday is sure to be even more brutal. Ouch. I have to say the ratings are making the show’s case for a renewal even harder now.
That is really disappointing, although not surprising after last weeks episode. That being said, I don’t know how we managed to lose viewers halfway through with an episode like this? If this episode can’t keep hold of people then I don’t know what will.

ParticipantSo, Black fairy was banished to that realm. (She was banished by Blue, right? Was this stated? Or just implied?) Anyway, her banishment probably meant that she was tethered to that realm by magic, and could not leave it for long. So the sword did not exactly open a portal, but instead cut the bonds tethering her to that realm. That sword was made by the Blue fairy. Black fairy was tethered by Blue’s magic, and it was Blue’s magic combined with savior magic that freed her. (<del> Done by blood, undone by blood</del> … oops wrong show. Done by Blue undone by Blue .
That all sounds spot on! Well done 🙂

ParticipantWow, I am shocked that people are giving this lower than an 8. I was gripped the whole way through – compared to last weeks episode this was a million times better. Interesting directing, gripping plot, multiple storylines that didn’t actually feel thrown together and some big development on the show mythology.
I haven’t loved an episode of this show so much for a long long time. Just a shame that they can’t pull out episodes like this every week.
And I got goosebumps when Emma and Rumple teamed up!

Participant*groan* So the Black Fairy can conveniently leave a realm that she was banished to for short enough periods of time to steal children. That seems like they suddenly realised that she was supposed to be banished and that they had referenced her voluntarily leaving the dark realm in order to steal Gideon.
The only thing really that could prevent this being groan-worthy is if the Black Fairy, after being banished/trapped for many years, has managed to amass enough power to potentially weaken the banishment spell. That being said – we don’t know how banishment works and what Blue actually did to cast her into that realm.

ParticipantI will be interested to see how we perform next week as this really wasn’t a great episode.

ParticipantThe girl being Regina’s daughter is potentially genius! I can’t believe I never even entertained the idea. How exciting would it be for Regina to get a visit from a daughter she has in the future, having believed that there was no way that she could conceive. Also, it works a reverse to Henry coming to find Emma, in that the daughter could be seeking Regina’s help to come to a new location and break a curse/be a savior or something similar?

ParticipantBudget “camels”. Though maybe that’s a nod to The Emperor’s New Groove. Just how many Disney movies were in this episode?
I seem to recall reading an article earlier in the year where someone from production said they couldn’t actually get camels (which they had wanted).

ParticipantThis episode was a complete mess. They zipped all over the shop, which I am sure some viewers found confusing. I really don’t understand the point of them introducing Aladdin and Jasmine at all? What have they brought to the plot, other than wishes, that they couldn’t have got in some other way? How has Aladdin been integral to expanding the Savior mythology?
When will they learn that the show works better when it is less convoluted, with the occasional twist, and more focus on character rather than plot? We want to see these characters living their lives in a way that feels real, despite the fact that they are from a magical land.
