ParticipantHmm, maybe it is Mulan then?
I was thinking the same. I’m not sure what Gotham’s plans are for Jamie, but if she’s going back to that show, then she can’t really pull double duty–even for an episode–on ABC as Mulan which would explain the answer that they can’t get to the Dragon’s daughter this year.
It must be so frustrating for Adam and Eddy when the actors get attached to other shows. Once is actually pretty ambitious with all of its characters but that unfortunately works against it quite a lot as the actors aren’t always featured much and therefore opt for more secure gigs.

ParticipantHmm, maybe it is Mulan then? Or someone completely different. Glad to hear that we will be seeing lots more of the Black Fairy.

ParticipantTaking in consideration Cora storyline, Camelot/dark Swan and this season with Hyde and Jekyll and even land of Untold stories, they can totally rush storylines to start new ones,
I’m wondering more and more if their plan is to “flood” the show with new ideas and concepts so that they are actually moving between things more and adding levels of intrigue back in. Obviously in season one the world was very small and the storytelling potential was amazing as they could go in any direction, build the world any way they want etc. Now it feels like they have exhausted a lot of avenues and I wonder if they are just sort of opening up the flood gates and putting things to the side so that they can move around in a “bigger” world and pull in storylines without having to spend every week setting new stuff up.

ParticipantI liked the portrayal of Princess Swan in the AU and actually found some of the scenes with her really difficult to watch because it was such a dramatic departure from the character that we know and love. For example, the scene where the only solution she dreams up to rid the kingdom of the EQ is to offer the key to the kingdom felt really sinister, mainly because of her pure innocence and the fact that she truly believed that that would have been enough.
Obviously, as pointed out above, we have to remember that she has faced no adversity in this life (or very little). All the things that hardened her, such as: being abandoned and growing up without her real parents, being shipped around foster homes, giving up her son, Lily’s influence, losing Neal etc haven’t happened, and those are the things that have shaped her into the Saviour. So it makes sense that he entire personality would be different (aside from the kind heart aspect which she does have – she cares about people). There are no walls – in a sense, the opposite. She is literally singing and opening herself to people.
I did feel that whilst I am sure she would like a slightly easier life, she seemed to indicate that she would rather the life of a Saviour any day over the life of Princess Emma. I’m guessing the ideal would be somewhere in between.

ParticipantWhy would he want too?
No idea! I just thought it would be an interesting way for them to bring that version of Rumple back as a completely different entity. I do miss that version of him.
Matt
ParticipantAlso, as they established again that Regina and the EQ are one in the same, does it mean that the wish actually effected Regina as well/or instead? Could that be why Robin showed up?
Matt
ParticipantAnyone get the sense that this Dark Realm is like the antithesis of Neverland? The way Rumple described that anything is possible there is like how Malcolm said that anything was possible in Neverland. The main difference is that instead of time standing still, time apparently moves faster. I guess it furthers the comparisons between Rumple’s parents.
I really like that idea, although the way time works might not be as simple as moving faster, it could effectively exist outside of time, or just involve a completely different time logic. We don’t know if he is killing Emma because of a vision from the future for example, something that she is destined to do that he has been able to see in the darker realm. Or it may just be that he is going out assassinating Saviours (perhaps to leave “light” realms vulnerable to consumption by the dark realm?)
Matt
ParticipantFirst, I thought the DO curse was darkness to end all darkness. Secondly, he has now all the power of the previous DOs plus his own (i.e. he is now the Ultimate! Dark One), so why would he not be able to go there?
I thought the same, but I guess that just because he has dark powers doesn’t mean that he would want to visit a Hellish place? It doesn’t exactly sound like it’s full of fun.
Matt
ParticipantWhy has the Black Fairy resurfaced now? Where has she been all this time? I guess some of that can be explained away by the weird way in which time works in the “darker realm”. Could she sense that a child of her blood was born?
I’m wondering if Jafar is somehow working with the Black Fairy. It seems likely that their goal might involve killing all Saviours so that the dark realms can maybe expand into the “protected” realms?!
Edit: Perhaps when a Saviour is removed (i.e. Aladdin) then a realm is susceptible to the darker realms? By this I mean that perhaps Agrabah was transported to a dark realm after Aladdin cut his ties to his Saviour self? I could be speaking complete nonsense here.
Matt
ParticipantWatching the scene again, I am wondering if the magic that Gideon uses is some sort of dark fairy dust? Where has he gotten his powers from? And this may seem like a small detail but what was the spark of blue? It seemed like an odd effect to just add in with all of the black smoke.
