ParticipantIf all of the realms are in danger, it would be nice to see Anna and Elsa, along with other characters from the past. Based on the guest star list however, that isn’t going to happen :-/

ParticipantI think she’s trying to get rid of all the realms and destroy all the people in it. At least that’s what the promo said for the finale. But maybe she wants that so no one could jeopardize their family and it will be just them ruling the land.
I guess that is fine, but why keep calling it the final battle? Why doesn’t she just say that “The End” is coming? Calling it the final battle makes it seem like she isn’t sure that she is going to win, and I would expect her to be a bit more cocky. Also, which has she waited until now to release the dust? How did she get transfer it from the Dark Realm and why didn’t she just use it whilst she was there?

ParticipantAre we ever going to find out why Once Upon a Time‘s Black Fairy wants to kill Emma? She’s got Rumple back in her life. Why does she still need Emma dead? —Mary “Just because Rumple is back in the Black Fairy’s life, that doesn’t mean a happy ending is guaranteed,” series co-creator Adam Horowitz notes. “Let’s face it — when darkness wants to prevail for all eternity, destroying light is usually on top of your to-do list.”
URGH. Seriously, is that the reasoning? She literally could just go off with Rumple and the family and start afresh. I can understand her wanting to get revenge – ON BLUE – but why would she target Emma? I guess because “prophecy”.

ParticipantEvery time I see this thread title I just want to respond with “Somewhere horrible” – which probably isn’t our desired location!
I too am confused about what the final battle is actually supposed to be, and also why the Black Fairy wants to start it – beyond thinking that by getting rid of the light she can live in peace with her family.
Also – why have they not sucked Fiona into the Sorcerer’s hat? Or Pandora’s box? Or have these all conveniently vanished?

ParticipantIt will not be set in the wish realm, I am certain of that.
Some things that I suspect may or may not happen:
– Magic will be “destroyed” OR Magic will be unleashed across our world and not limited to Storybrooke. They could go either route with this, but I do wonder if they may take a break from some of the more fantastical elements to try and ground the show again.
– The wall between lands will close off in order to protect them from the destruction of the new curse.
– Storybrooke will be destroyed / the show will be set elsewhere next season. Again, this could be good for the show because it features very few “real world” locations these days and relies heavily on CGI. CGI costs money and they have said that they want to cut costs (although losing cast also helps with this).
– Emma will not die
– Someone will be “banished” in the same way that the Black Fairy was. I could totally see them using this as a way to get rid of a character but have them return at some point.
– The new cast members are non-magical and have not been exposed to magic before. This could be used as a way to reintroduce the concept of magic in a grounded way.
– Zelena will die OR not. They have either beefed up her role in recent episodes because a) they are going to kill her off and want it to have more of an impact or b) because she will be featured more heavily moving forward (presumably alongside Regina)?
– If people stop believing in magic, does it still exist? The word for the finale is apparently “belief” and it would be interesting for them to play on the fact that a lot of the fans don’t believe in the show anymore.

ParticipantY’know. It wasn’t really that great of an idea when Buffy tackled the whole “mental hospital” thing/idea.
I knew they were going to do this. Where is the originality? Every show I watch seems to just be a rehash of something else.

ParticipantI think another problem is that a musical episode came way too late in the show’s run. Had it happened when the show was still considered pretty successful, perhaps it would have fared better. But let’s face it, a significant chunk of the general public has clearly moved on from this show, and they weren’t going to be swayed back that easily.
Agreed. They probably could have got away with it in season one, but it just feels too much like a ratings stunt now. And with several other shows having musical episodes recently it also doesn’t feel that fresh.

ParticipantIt is interesting that none of the current cast has acknowledged what Jennifer has posted. Anyone who is signed on for a season 7 (if it gets picked up) is probably not allowed to talk. ABC probably allowed her to speak because they hope that more people will tune in as it is truly the end of Emma’s story.

ParticipantThe unrounded numbers from last night: AF Home Videos ………………. 1.016 … (0.978 … 1.054) Once Upon a Time ……………. 0.775 … (0.802 … 0.748) Last 100 Days of Diana ……… 0.907 … (0.831 … 0.898 … 0.964 … 0.934) Not the ugliest unroundeds I’ve seen, as I was honestly expecting worse. Still, ouch. Especially since Diana managed to grow from it.
As much as I enjoyed the music, the episode felt really rushed, disjointed and out-of-place. And with all the added publicity, and rumours of cancellation, this episode really just made the show look pathetically desperate in it’s attempts to get people to tune in. I honestly think a full episode surrounding the wedding and intimate character moments would have held more viewers. Instead we got CGI-fest. It is particularly bad when you have a character like the Black Fairy who is supposed to be the originator of evil, who stands awkwardly not knowing where to look when Emma is singing, rather than just releasing the black fairy dust to shut her up.
I just wish we could go back to a time where plot wasn’t everything. They seed in these really great character moments in some of these episodes and I crave for more of that. Scenes like Regina talking to Emma in New York about her struggle with the darkness inside of her. That is one of my favourite scenes. If they didn’t feel the need to throw in gimmicks, macguffins etc all the time, I think some of us might just enjoy these characters trying to live a normal life without the threat of a curse every five minutes.

ParticipantI wonder if they are going to have the worlds all closing off forever in order to protect them from being destroyed and the characters having to quickly choose where they want to remain? I could see that being a trickier decision for some of them.
I also wonder if it is going to turn out that the prophecy about the witch from the west saving Oz is going to turn out to be Zelena doing something in this episode to protect it as well?
