ParticipantLOL. I have to re-watch but if that’s the case, you’re right – it is funnier.

What I do wonder is why did he make it so that Emma dying would break the curse and yet he hasnt tried to kill her. He obviously had the opportunity.
I agree that it doesn’t make sense if he wants the Curse broken.
That’s why I don’t think he wants to break it completely, only weaken it enough so he can leave.pandoras imp
ParticipantI got a big giggle from last night’s ep.
“Red, you have something on your lip” 😆
So from the episode, it looks like Red has learned to control her Wolf. I was hoping for this, but didn’t expect it so soon.
I wonder if we are going to see how she learned to do this. Also I wonder if Granny, when she could change, was able to control her wolf too?

ParticipantYes he may not be in our world but I think Mr. Gold believes he is in our world.
He’s spent possibly hundreds of years creating the curse to get back to his son, so although something could have happened that would have sent Bae to a different land, I think Mr. Gold truly believes he is in the same place and same time as his son.
Not to say that makes my theory right. I’ve been way off before. The show keeps surprising me and I like it that way. 😀

ParticipantHis motives are confusing to me too, but I did have a thought – although not that well thought out. LOL
Perhaps he wants to weaken the curse so he can leave Storybrooke and find his son. Also maybe he designed the curse so that when it’s broken it transports everyone from FTL living in the real world back – not just those who were in FTL when the curse hits, but anyone from FTL That way Bae would be transported back to FTL too.

ParticipantI agree. She was freaking out at the responsibility. There’s no need to panic over something that isn’t real. So yes I think she definitely thinks it’s possible, she just doesn’t want it to be true.

Women Who Run with Wolves was a wonderful book! Saved my life back in the 1990s. I didn’t realize I was so hungry for a tv show that took the old fairy tales and put them center stage!

Oh, that book saved my life just a few years ago! I always turn back to it whenever I feel lost, you know?!
Saved mine 8 years ago. 😀
I wrote in the Red Riding Hood Thread of how Ruby Reminds me of the book. I don’t want to sidetrack this thread but you can find the Ruby thread below

ParticipantI’m not afraid to look at the Dark Side of our lives (Read up on the Vasalisa Story…).
I know that story. It’s one of the Stories featured in Women who Run with the Wolves. I was thinking during the last episode, though I knew it was highly unlikely, that it would have been so cool if the old powerful one Bae was seeking would be Baba Yaga. I still think it would be awesome to see her in FTL. 😀
As for Rumpelstiltskin’s ability to see into the future, I think if he does have that power, then I think he can only see future of others or the big picture, I don’t think he can see his own.
I agree he is making progress. I thought the fact he didn’t just kill Kathryn was a sign of that. I think it’s because the Dark Magic that corrupted him doesn’t have the same hold on him in Storybrooke and his humanity has a better chance of taking control back.

Second, I know a lot of people really like Rumple – I get it, he is one of, if not the, most interesting characters of the show – but I think his human side is being way too much… cherished?
Perfect word, and I agree. 😀
I think the scene with August, heart wrenching as it was, showed the he had learned some things..but I don’t think it’s enough.
For starters he said all this thinking he was safe because his son wouldn’t use the dagger to kill him. So it doesn’t show us he is not still a coward.
For me, he can’t be redeemed until he understands that True love is not selfish. The magic that love holds enables people to put the needs of others in front of their own. People who love are willing to sacrifice for the happiness of others. .
Instead of learning from his mistakes when he lost Bae, Rumpelstiltskin proceeded to create a curse that ruined the lives of everyone in his world so he could get what he wanted. That to me is not someone who learned the big lesson and I think Bae would be devastated to learn what his father did to get him back.
I know I’m probably the only one, but I really don’t think he should be reunited with his son. All magic comes with a price. His was Bae and I think he has to pay it and learn from his mistake, not cheat it.
For me, Bae was the price he paid – Belle is his second chance.

I agree. He finally saw a glimpse of remorse and regret from Mr. Gold. I think it’s the beginning of his redemption arc. The audience needs to see that he is at the very least, remorseful. The writers show us these kinds of Rumpel-centric episodes for a reason.
I agree with that but for Rumpelstiltskin his redemption isn’t just being remorseful and sorry, he actually has to conquer his fear and be brave.
As for the Kiss. I’m just saying that’s how beauty and the beast ended so it is possible for Rumpelstiltskin to perform an act of bravery that hurts him and be saved by True Loves kiss.
