ParticipantI wonder if the contingency is that the body part must be present to reattach it. Did Rumple keep the hand? I don’t remember. If it is the in the shop Hook could steal it and Cora reattach it stating that he would be able to better serve her. Though Hook is Hook because of his hook

Did anyone get my reference to Dragontheart and Harry Potter in the initial reactions podcast? I’m thinking that Cora’s heart is in someone else important, possibly even Snow or Regina. If this is true, then that person may have to sacrifice their own life in order to defeat Cora.
Oddly enough I was toying with this idea with a fanfiction I was writing. My idea is that there might be possibly magic stronger than true love and that is a true sacrifice. Reason being is that to give wholly of yourself for the sake of another goes against human nature and this would mean that it would not happen often. Belle for instance sacrificed her livelihood for the good of her village but as for laying down her life for her fellow person she seems to be one who might do it though I am sure it would be prevented.
If that is the case the death would have to come from someone meaningful to have an impact on the audience and it would be difficult to think of any of the main characters or other characters without worrying about what is going to happen to others. However I suppose we will cross that bridge when we get there.
Now regarding where Cora could have hid her heart since she has been to many different worlds and it seems each world intersects with other worlds or at least with a “portal” that allows the ability to go other worlds. She could have placed a curse to protect her heart. There are several anomalies on earth that might be some of the places where she could have hidden her heart.
For example let’s suppose Bermuda triangle. It could explain why there have been shipwrecks and the like because they got too close to her heart and it would be a interesting way of tying in real world mysterious events to a fairy tale event and story.
It could also fit with the Davy Jones story.
She may be able to roam around freely enough in the area of the anomaly (or close to it). I would hazard a guess that she may not be able to move around outside the greater vicinity of the anomaly without suffering from the rules of nature in this world. In worlds where there is some sort of magic (or ability to manipulate magic) would then mean she has the freedom to move as she pleases.
Furthermore if she is limited in her movement depending on which world she is in and the kind of magic it has how limited is Cora in what she can do? Is her being Storybrooke allowed (in terms of movement and magic) because she is in the bubble of magic where once it pops she has to face her being literally heartless faces its consequences?
I find it fascinating that she would go through such lengths to protect her heart and to shun love. Only a person who has faced a horrible heartbreak or betrayal would do something like this. Unless her ambitiousness and craving for power, strength etc is what motivated her to seek magic, and remove what she felt was weakness. She might have faced a betrayal of the worst kind or lost her true love similarly to Regina (maybe in part of having no heart why she had to teach Regina the weakness of true love as well) or suffered from having no love (negligent, abusive parents and “love” that turned out to be nothing but ash).
The only thing though is with her being in Storybrooke for the latter half of season 2 I assume we are going to end with a cliffhanger and have her continue to be the villain in season 3 (with either Hook as the sidekick–whose playing both sides, or new ones such as King George) I am definitely trying to figure out what will happen next. I have a sort of idea.
I am guessing that true love will break the curse. It may be that Emma's love for Henry broke one part of the curse but that a new love (or old i.e. Neal) is going to break the curse due to Emma being cursed.
But then my thing is that I both want it to happen but also do not want to happen at least for the next couple of seasons. Because then we have this whole new dynamic of fairy tale characters in our world. Do they try and stay in Storybrooke–is Storybrooke going to remain or change back the landscape it was before? Are they going to naturally distance themselves? Try and go back to Fairytale land since they did go to Snow's castle which was in the area of the curse, no?

ParticipantActually scratch the whole generational thing but I do think one reason why Maleficent might have gone after Aurora was that Maleficent saw Aurora as the child she could never have and the child of Aurora’s mother and her ex.

2) George needed Rumple’s help because his minions could not legally get George’s wife pregnant and an heir to the throne. She was cursed to being barren. If an heir was not found or produced the kingdom will go to another royal family. His minions can’t be trusted to doing that word would go out that there was no heir. If you remember whenever he spoke to Rumple in detail in was just between the two of them and no one else; meaning no one “really knows” what the deal is but yet they do.
That means that he was not his wife’s true love. It makes me wonder who was. That said it would be interesting to see their dynamic in their relationship. If there was underlying animosity I wonder if George’s wife purposefully made herself barren as a way of keeping true to her one true love (not having another man’s child) or ensuring that George not have his ancestry passed on as he would have to adopt a child into the royal family. If there are brothers and sisters it would interesting to meet them or learn about their existence and life (if he had any… if he was an only child he would be in quite the predicament).
I think George’s wife probably was his true love – Snow and Charming’s true love kissing didn’t cure Snow, it was the water from Lake Nostos. I don’t think the curse George used on Snow is an actual curse; I think it was probably more like a poison, or maybe a magical poison.
That makes sense. I thought it was a curse because he mentions a curse (http://onceuponatime.wikia.com/wiki/King_George) but it seems to have been a potion rather a curse (chant and potion). That explains why the lake water allowed Snow to become fertile again.
If the queen was King George’s true love then her death along with the inability to produce an heir might have been what made him cross over to the character he is today. I know curses can be broken by true love’s kiss but some potions example being the potion Snow took to forget Charming can also be released by a kiss well his sentiment of his rather dying then seeing Snow becoming evil (http://onceuponatime.wikia.com/wiki/Snow_White)
I mostly thought it odd that if the Queen was King George’s love then shouldn’t that have broken through the potion (if not a kiss alone then the sentiment as well)? Unless it is only some potions with others only being broken with an antidote. It would be interesting to see the dynamics of his marriage if we ever see it.

ParticipantThe only thing I can think of is creating a chatterbox for ouat topics where there can be chat threads, hangout threads, the polls etc that people can kick back and really be able to feel to Fangirl/boy mode? Or a subforum of the chat place we have already

Don’t know how many other guys post here but I got to say getting a bit much on the boards with all this obsessiveness about Hook. There are plenty of other people on the show to talk about but lately board seems like a teen fan page for Collin O’Donoghue.
No, it’s not just about Hook. Maybe you just don’t like that people are talking about him (or can like him without your permission).
There is no need for the defensiveness (and the quip about permission I find mildly offensive as they seem to be talking about the type of threads and quantity when there is at least two threads that can contain the chatter and have it be discussed nicely rather than discussing about it in a chatter-like way).
The issue that some have noticed is not necessarily the amount of chatter because we all have been fangirls/boys (or fans) at point or another (or maybe not). But rather there has been a few threads of overzealous fans about Hook staying, thanking for hook etc.
I get the passion I really do but that might be better suited for general discussion. I am aware that there several threads that are about specific aspects about a character–though seem to be theorizing and that too would be better suited for general discussion. It would be up to a moderator’s interpretation. I am aware that general discussion material–though most seem (not all) of a theorizing nature rather than chatter–does exist for all characters but right now Hook is the it person because he is new, he is handsome, etc.

I too have a feeling that George was not exactly an amazing king but in child of the moon, it didn’t take much for the people of SB to rally behind him… he could not have been that bad…
I wonder if he ever caused or instigated anything himself (subtlety) where he could “save the day” and look the hero. Or maybe he is great elocutionary skills where he can have people obey, rally behind him, buy the imitation watch he says is the real thing…

I really don’t get why people think Bae ended up in Neverland. Bae went to a land without magic (as I recall), but Neverland has magic, right? Or have I missed something?
I always thought of Neverland as having magic but I still think it is possible that Baelfire might have passed through other lands on his journey to the land without magic.
According to Barrie Neverland exists off the mainland (England) as to whether it is sky or see is unknown. So it is possible it exists in our world. What it could be is that either we have different type of magic (we have seelie and unseelie courts here and other supernatural creatures and happenings) that is more raw than in Fairytale land. It could also depend on magic from other lands that magic similar to Fairytale land. The other possibility is that these creatures are able to come into our world from other places. Perhaps through the spirit world–thinking Charles De Lint when I imagine it and the spirit world who has its own lands and such might have portals to other realms. So for someone who has magic similar to Fairytale Land they might be able to direct themselves they need to go by creating shortcuts (portals) and not get lost in the spirit world. And for those of us from a land with little to no magic it might only be achieved through dedication, practice, meditation etc but only in the way of walking through the lands rather than being able to create the portals etc.

I totally went OMG THE GUY FROM PSYCH 😮
I am looking forward to seeing how this plays out. I love the idea of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde being the transformation from living brother to living monster.
