ParticipantA part of me can’t help but feel that the nature of the show is always going to have this delicate balance where they deal with characters sufficiently and not include too many. For right now they have a lot of characters (regular, peripheral, and only when necessary). But then truthfully it’s sort of difficult to then see that some character like Jack was dealt with so quickly. That seems to be the only way of dealing with the majority of future characters. Then if they do add a couple of new characters to the mix I hope that they really do add to the storyline.
For instance I absolutely love the theory I have read about Hook and Ariel. It fits so nicely so in that case I wouldn’t then mind her being added as a ongoing character. (Although I would find it funny if Hook’s name was Eric Killian Jones 😛 )

I am slightly offended that being an emma/neal shipper (which you already have stated you have a bias against) is the sole reason why there’s hate towards Tamara or that it is exclusive to this group. The hate is natural. It happens. It has nothing to do with intolerance or immaturity. Every fan clique has their moments where they say their piece about characters. There’s no need for the eye roll. (: Personally hate like this a par of the course (maybe you’ve been on different type of boards?) when coming to characters (and ones that are being shipped) honestly I have seen it for celebrities as well.
I didn’t know it was against the rules to include an eye roll smilie when posting a comment. And do you have any other explanation as to why there are many rants and slams against the Tamara or the actress who plays here . . . before anyone has a chance to know her character?
In the previous post and this post I interpreted as very condescending. I was simply saying that the emotional response of the eye roll was unnecessary. However if you feel you need to be so aggressive in your rudeness I suppose you have every right. I will have to then dash any modicum of respect I might have had for you and simply ignore you. If you cannot handle any sort of criticism back towards your specific behavior then that is more an issue with you.
Although I still do assert the possibility that you are unfamiliar as to how protective fans can be of their shipping and even extending to celebrities. Yes it can be overwhelming but generally once the emotional response is over generally it’s peaches and cream. You have people espousing hate over a new character, and you have people leaving the board/hating the show because their favorite character is not featured enough. People are passionate about their characters. Then you have those who will literally take a two second glance to solidify the shipping. They are all shades of the same passion. That’s the driving force behind all the immediate knee-jerk reactions.
I am sure you and I are decent posters I simply believe that passionate responses are par of the course that will usually subside as time goes on. However I’ve added my part and my theories and if they are ignored to focus solely on the negative as a way of pointing out a negative as a group as a whole then so be it.
Well welcome to the boards. I will try to be civil from here on out and suspect that our crossing paths will be limited. (:

Oh God! This board is filled with Emma/Neal shippers. No wonder people are posting nasty comments about a character no one knows about. 🙄 I have never encountered such intolerance on a message board in my life.
By the way, I despise Neal. I think he’s a douche.

To be honest comments like is completely turning me off of the OUAT fandom.

ParticipantIn this thread it was brought up on how the name on the blade is spelled incorrectly. I don’t think the props department would do this accidentally. So as I posted before I think the dagger is a fake in that because Zoso perceived the name to be Rumplestiltskin rather than Rumpelstiltskin then Rumple can’t be controlled or summoned. I have ready in other books (Charles De Lint) that there is power in a name and Rumple’s fairytale is about the power of names and then there’s Emma.
So the spoiler could be that Cora realizes that he was able to circumvent one part of the curse but could not escape or cheat death.

ParticipantSorry if it seems all over the place but I am trying to keep it organized.
First, Tamara may not be FTL related at all but may have her own type of magic that exists in this world. I do think that some sort of magic exists here but it’s so primitive that it’s more an energy source. So if she were of this world then she might be an embodiment of someone who can funnel that energy and obtained some sort of level beyond what we live in (ascended if that is an apt word). That or she is able to travel between worlds in a way that is different from the way FTL characters do it. I am thinking of Charles De Lint and how some of his characters can travel in the spirit world or the world between the spirit world and our world.
About Tamara’s name:
Tamara can mean spice, date palm, or lotus flower depending on origin. It’s also based on the Tamar.A few things come to mind when I think of date palms and spices. I think of the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and generally that area. The first place I went to was Calypso because of Captain Hook’s name being Killian Jones But I wanted to do some further research and for instance the goddess Yemaya who is the ocean, essence of motherhood and protector of children. Interestingly enough there is a goddess that goes by the name of Tamar who is a Georgian sky goddess. Then there is Asherah who is the Queen of Heaven and also Lady of the Sea or who treads on the sea. So perhaps she might be Calypso but a sort of hodge podge of several dieties?
My guess is that she is connected to Captain Hook (perhaps he has a connection to Davy Jones of Davy Jones Locker). Which either means that he met her in Never Never Land or sometime prior. (Perhaps she helped him find a way of staying alive for over 300 years?)
Now onto my second point:
Second, I have no hate for Tamara. However I do believe there is more to the story. I don’t really see how from the first episode of Broken (which gave the impression of a bachelor) we then see he is engaged. The impression I got was that he had to do it because of a situation he found himself in (perhaps got in over his head with the wrong people) or she is someone who knows of his past and in keeping silent needed a favor.
If, and this is a big if, she does have a connection to Captain Hook (and Neal seems to have a connection to Captain Hook) then she must know something about Neal that would make him quick to help her. I was wondering about the Peter Pan connection. I don’t think he is Peter Pan. I know the creators have said we are not going to meet Peter Pan this season and I understand how that it can be interpreted either as Neal not being Peter Pan or we not getting his Peter Pan backstory until next season. There is also the theory of his being a lost boy.
I was wondering though judging from his skittishness and her possessiveness seems that there is something that Neal wants to hide. I don’t really see why he would hide his being Peter Pan identity or being a Lost Boy. Unless he wasn’t the “good” guy but on Captain Hook’s side. He mentions knowing how to sail. He recognizes Hook.
Had they met in Never Never Land then Hook could have easily started to turn Neal against Rumple by telling him about the fact that Rumple was drunk with power, that he tore out Milah’s heart and crushed it (yes she abandoned him but this episode shows that Neal has an immense love for his parents…he even called Rumple papa when he saw Rumple hurt), that Rumple did not care for Neal any longer. So he learned from Hook and was a crew of his ship.
The only thing I can think of is that Tamara might have told Neal about what Rumple was trying to do, what his motivation was as the Dark Lord in spite of his dark magic and very much cruel way of deal making etc, and told him about the curse that was cast. Neal might have felt it was his duty to help break the curse that Rumple found. Tamara could have told him about Emma, about her being the savior etc. That could explain how Emma and him met. Perhaps he used a bit of magic to have her drawn to the bug. Then we see what happens after. Their falling in love, etc.
But because magic comes with a price then Neal might have been at the mercy of Tamara’s wishes whatever they may be. For now it seems to be playing the role of fiance and using this “endearment” to allow her to cross into Storybrooke.
I don’t know (or rather) I doubt she did this out of the goodness of her heart but she may turn malevolent when she is finally able to go to where she needs to go to accomplish her plans…
And that was long-winded.. 😆

I do like CaptainSwan, RumBelle, WhaleWolf, RumQueen (Cora), SwanFire HookRegina, um and ArialHook, JeffersonSwan, Hopper and Regina, Hopper and Emma, can’t think of others. BTW if you can kill an ogre by shooting him in the eye, why are they fighting them with swords instead of arrows? It seems rather stupid to get close enough to be mauled.
Perhaps that is why so many lives were lost in the ogre wars? The soldiers weren’t given the correct equipment to fight with.
Which for me is what makes this whole thing really sketchy. Wars from then were probably fought in the same way the middle ages war were fought with first round of archers, then the army. It seems odd that in all of that time of fighting they wouldn’t have seen that arrows could skill ogres. Also if he was the only one to survive then how did news of his cowardice make it back to Milah. Couldn’t there have been an explanation of something where Rumpelstiltskin was not cut out to be a soldier and injured himself. Or they used him as a pariah for those who did not believe in the war or did not want to fight in the war. Rumple’s reason seemed to be due to his not wanting to have Bae grow up fatherless however others might have had other reasons. Then seeing how Rumple was treated could have prevented others from speaking out, acting in the same way etc.
There is definitely something more to the war. Something it did make me think of with how the leaders led the war was a scene in Braveheart where Longshacks uses the archers not caring there was his own men in the fray because it would hurt the enemies. It seems that those supporting or paying for the war had their own agenda and it didn’t matter who was involved (enemies or their own men). Some ideas is that the ogres had something either some sort of ancient magic, or treasure that the various kingdoms (the leaders) were vying after. Or these leaders instigated battles in enemy lands in the hope of weakening these neighboring kingdoms to cripple the government, the economy etc.

ParticipantI can’t imagine this turning out well. The only spin-off that I can think of that I enjoyed was the Dr Who spinoffs i.e. Torchwood. However they did keep the same actors though and made it all unto its own universe. It really depends on who will helm the project, the screenwriters involved, the leading actor (which is going to be difficult shoes to fill), supporting cast its approach and most importantly the story. That’s what I am wondering about.
To me it seems off that they mention Stan’s career in the new Captain America movie (his being busy) because this show does not seem as if it is going to be put into production any time soon. So then if it is so far out in advance then shouldn’t it be easier to pencil Stan in or vice versa? Unless Stan wants to move on then that’s totally understandable. However there seems to be many television stars who juggle a movie career and a television career.
Personally if Jefferson is recast I hope it is because of Stan’s wishes rather than ABC trying to either push him out for whatever reason (cost of the actor, politics whatever).

However, when coming to that sort of story, you loose the feeling of “I want to be there. I want that to be real and, hey! for all i know it could be real! Why not? everything makes sense, everything could happen!”, since they invite more to watch them from a contemplative perspective, to enjoy the view more than to be an active part of them.
I can enjoy the first, rounded sort of stories, of course, as i can enjoy and admire a picture by Andrea del Sarto. But if i have to choose, i prefer the stories that make me being sort of absorbed in them.
But that means that it’s what you bring to the table as much as it is the storytellers. FTL has shown time and time again that it operates in a world with its own rules, society, natural laws etc. So why not the judge story from that perspective? I understand we come from different perspectives or ideologies but I don’t see why our own perspectives means we can’t immerse ourselves. If anything OUAT has done a bang up job in explaining how things are connected and why and in a way that is logical in both worlds (though usually a bit more in FTL than our own) but they have been good on revealing it as we go along.

ParticipantI had mentioned their part in the curse (Bae being the beginning and Emma being the end) and I personally believe is what drew them together. However I understand that destiny alone is not enough but I feel that along with the power of the curse drawing them together, Henry who caused Emma to believe in the curse, true love etc. At least for me it makes sense…
