ParticipantI am guessing she is the miller’s daughter so her father either worked in a grain mill (don’t think it was as an owner) or was in charge of a windmill. We see Cora wanting to be in Regina’s life and in such a forceful, controlling way. I wonder if she is trying to have the relationship she did not have growing up.
I am guessing Cora’s mother fell in love with Cora’s father but became quickly disillusioned when he did not actually own the grain mill (or say only a windmill rather than the lands etc) or did not have the ambitions so she left (either killed herself, or ran off with someone else etc). Additionally we are not sure how her father treated her… did he treat her badly because she reminded him of his wife that left, or blame her etc.
As for who she moved on with I am not sure but it could have been that she used her charm to seduce Henry with the aid of Rumple. The deal could have been to give up Regina but Cora either bested him or he allowed Cora to think so if he had been given a glimpse of the future.
That could be then why Rumple felt for Cora. Cora had a mother like Milah who essentially abandoned her own child with no remorse and her own selfish reasons. Then he respected her intelligence, charm, cleverness and apparently to the point where they shared a physical connection as well (not sure if Cora used her “charm” as a means of getting what she wanted or to have someone at her mercy. That or they did share something more (perhaps understanding each other as ones who were left.
Also there is a dream interpretation for windmills (not saying this is a legit source) but windmills have several meanings…generally means properly using resources; psychologically it can mean the fruit of human’s work (and because it holds seeds etc it can represent the female or mother); spiritually it can mean gaining spiritual intellect through accessing spiritual powers.
I think this represents Cora. She wants to represent what she had lost: mother. She worked hard to develop her magical abilities. She became ambitious because she believes that if dad was more ambitious her mother would not have left.

ParticipantSo one disadvantage of becoming more out there in church where there is not many singles is realizing that single men are suddenly sitting near you, trying to shake your hand…(I mean in the sense that you can feel the whole “you’re single too?” vibe..
Yeah… awkward. Even more so when they are almost ten years younger…
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

THANKS FOR THE LAUGH…. if you think school is tough wait till you have a job and have to deal with crazy un-helpful co workers and even crazier bosses…. that is stress.
N,
I am kind of having similar issues. For one of my classes the professor is so unhelpful. All she does is gives us handouts tells us there’s a class next week and no lecture nothing. It simply feels inadequate. I enjoy lectures. I love learning about a subject and having their own personal input.
As for unhelpful I can relate. I have some classmates that are so quick to basically demand my notes and what not. I am certainly able to oblige. If I can be a help that in itself is gratifying.
However none have really been open in sharing their studying methods or notes (I love learning how others learn if only to see all the various ways). Or like when I get some sort of sarcastic remark when I had forgotten handouts for a class yet they are so quick to use me…
I participated a few times in a study group and had one classmate get snarky when another person in my group said they appreciated my help. It was one of those things where I never actually said or hinted that my way of studying was best in fact I did say that it probably wasn’t best but I did try to make it work. (What I do is basically Cornell type notes but mine are detailed and I make “test” questions out of the notes).
I am mostly feeling a bit exhausted and just a bit unsure how to feel. I don’t mind giving for the sake of giving. However usually the minimum I expect is basic niceness (that should already be there) and usually what I would like expect back is simply their look into the information to make sure that we as a group didn’t miss anything…
But I am trying to make the most of it. (:

Thank you for your comment. I suppose I don’t understand why it was unnecessary only in that I tried to be tactful in my opinion and offer what I feel is basic internet decorum and common sense.
Basically be smart if your opinion or post breaks the terms of service or TOS–forum rules then no matter the stance is should be reported. I broke it down from the different instances that one could encounter. (: If that was misunderstood you have my apologies.
I am certainly trying on my end to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, be respectful, and keep posts as civil as possible. I definitely admit it is very hard. 😆

ParticipantI was looking at the meaning of Lacey as a first name and it is all over the place! It ranges from cheerful, lace-like, place name, of lassy Normandy, even the etymology says it means lace-like (around early 1800s
It seems to be of French origin early 1800s.
I found the meaning of Lacey as a surname that is very interesting. Here it seems to be of Norman-French origin. It mentions it could be derived of Lascius and someone discusses what it could be based on in Latin specifically “lassus”, meaning “weary, tired”, or possibly even from the Latin word “lascivus”, meaning (when applied in a good sense) “playful, sportive frolicsome.”
So it could be a first name or a surname. If it is say a female character then the last name could be a maiden name and if married it is possible that she took her husband’s name whatever it may be.
I do think there has to be something in the name. It is the title after all.

I want to see what Hook does with this. I thought of something now. If Hook tried to do something to Belle and Rumple saves Belle is that going to be the seed of love, or means of having her memories return? It would basically mean that while Hook’s plan of revenge to steal Rumple’s true love but in doing actually brings back the memories and strength of their true love…
I don’t know if that’s where they’re going, but it seems to me it’d put Hook in more of a Gaston type role. That can’t end well (and if that happens, I think Hook fans will be mad enough to spit nails).
I hope he doesn’t get turned into a rose. (and yes I wouldn’t be surprised if Hook fans did get that mad.)

ParticipantI wonder what influence would Great Ormond Street Hospital, who holds copyright of Peter Pan could have over the representation of Hook in any form even if based on the book or not directly related to the Disney film, the play or other deriative works. The UK granted did grant them perpetual rights (because Barrie had given the hospital the rights so that they could gain the revenue from the copyright). Perhaps they have some say in how the character is represented?

ParticipantThat’s interesting but I wonder what exactly are they basing that on. The book itself is already in the public domain in the United States and Canada (since it is a US show filmed in Canada). Additionally the interpretation of Captain Hook is no where near close to the Disney film portrayal or the play both of which are still under copyright. This is the wiki article on public domain…
But since ABC is owned by Disney wouldn’t that make Once Upon A Time essentially a Disney production then wouldn’t they have some leeway in possibly using Disney as an influence?
Still very interesting…

See, I think Neal gave Emma up that easily because he loved her that much. If he’s Bae, he knows the damage that magic can do and think that it has to be stopped at any cost, for all of their sakes. In a sense, he did the same thing that her parents did. They all loved her enough to let her go and had faith. Like the famous saying, if you love something enough, set it free.
I can’t help but feel as if that Neal isn’t Bae it sort of diminishes this storyline. I think that his leaving Emma means that he has to have personal experience about the price of magic. Especially when he may feel guilty that the curse was ultimately because of him. If it wasn’t for him then Rumple would not have gone to the lengths he did to find him. I wonder if he fears that because he used magic (a magic bean) that the cost was that it would eventually affect his own chance at true love even if Rumple had a part of it. (Though I hope that it was because the dark curse prevented him from leaving as much as it was his fear).
