Fun! Why isn’t it gushing apple filling if Henry bit into it? It’s interesting how Snow took a while choking and making those weird faces at Regina before she actually keeled over and Henry didn’t even pretend to choke before going horizontal. I wonder if Henry just shut himself off to get Emma to believe? Dang cyborg children.

So, they will be whole but also very disoriented and continuously piecing the two worlds together in order to survive and deal with all the dualities. I think, instead of wiping out the alternate Selves, the Storybrooke and FTL Selves will merge to make the characters and situations more interesting but some folks just may not be able to make the leap and they’ll join Belle down in the basement. Hmm, Fairy Tales meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and Marat/Sade. Could be nice and twisted, actually.
It could be, the prophecy gets fulfilled and the curse gets broken, everyone remembers (briefly or permanently) then as a fail safe a new layer of the curse descends onto the the cursed, also entrapping any would be saviors and restarts itself a little bit smarter each season – sort of like a computer chess game that learns its human counterpart’s board strategy and incorporates it into each new game until it locks out every option of the human ever winning. Henry likes games, ask him about it. 😉
possum snoodleParticipantYeah, I’ve always hoped the writers might tie Maleficent in her dragon form to the Jabberwock from Alice In Wonderland thus why Emma, in an Alice moment, might take the vorpal sword in hand and through and through go snicker snack and leave It dead and with its head go galumphing back …and into a cell next to Belle. Sure, Emma would believe but she’d be a complete wreck, eh?
possum snoodleParticipantI like the idea Belle may have written the book. It might also explain the Belle in the padded room being tormented by knowing the truth. Perhaps, the Evil Queen/Regina locked her away in a tower until she had compiled a book of every story in the land and could recite them by heart. As a component of the Dark Curse, all these stories were entombed inside Belle’s broken heart thus why her counterpart in Storybrooke is really Belle gone mad 1000 times more than Jefferson, who only has to remember the two lives in his own head. Imagine, the insanity that could be caused by all those lives screaming to get out. That’s a serious case of Multiple Personalties Disorder, there.
However, in the latest episode (An Apple…) Jefferson is bargaining with Regina about his daughter, Grace, and says he’ll do as Regina wishes if she will “write a new story for Grace and I” instead of just waking her up to live with two worlds in her head like he has had to. That line of dialogue made me think Regina had something to do with the story book – or – has some other book that is something like the false reality the Curse reads from to veil the minds of the Storybrooke citizens; an anti-Once Upon A Time book of sorts.
possum snoodleParticipant@ KalliopeKisses…
I’m with you on what seems to be some sort of subtle dance going on between the two.
It’s funny you posted this because I just posted a similar speculation yesterday about Regina and Jefferson’s body language towards one another. I’m glad someone else is picking this up! It does seem to be an ongoing behavior as if to suggest they were both, at one time, hot messes in each other’s company. From an acting standpoint, the actors are definitely playing to this effect.
So, KK, I don’t believe you and I are reading too much into this behavior and I’d bet others have picked up on it as well. The behavior is so well played by the actors, it begs us to notice. Whether, it’s intended to imply some shared complicated history between the two or it’s just Regina being all Cat and Mouse with another captive male in her plan, we won’t really know until more backstory is revealed – but – it sure is intriguinging, isn’t it?
Were they: Lovers? Separated at birth/Brother-Sister rivalry? Were they Time Bandits or some cosmic version of Bonnie & Clyde using the hat as a Realm-jumping get-away-car? Only Time, it seems, will tell.I think it could be a great backstory if the writers pursue it. Thanks, for getting this into a thread of its own!
possum snoodleParticipantThere’s at least one or two threads running with ideas about the doors and “other Lands.” If I remember correctly, one thread had some decent pics (or links to pics) to help spark ideas about the hat’s room of doors. A “brim full of ideas,” perhaps? You might want to search to see what others have been coming up with if you’re trying to pull together a comprehensive list of possibilities. It’s definitely a great brain teaser. A few of my thoughts on lands are:
Virtual Worlds (Tron, WoW, Second Life, Sims, other digital Realms – what do our Avatars do while we sleeep?)
A World of Pure Imagination (incl. OompaloompaLand/per Willy Wonka or a place were you think it and it manifests – careful what you wish for!)
Gothic Realm (gargoyles, Vampyres, Werefolk, all that)
Camelot (Authurian Legends, Sword In The Stone)
Asgard (Valhalla, Norse legends)
The Realm of Mirrors (a realm that peers into every other Realm through any reflective surface)
Atlantis, Oceanus, (the cosmic well-spring source of Lake Nostros and other magical waters)
The Faery Realm (original home world of Blue Fairy & faerie magic)
Egyptian Land of The Dead (a Universe ordered by the principals of Ma’at)
Land of Nightmares (home of parasitic entities that exist only when Fear gives them life)
The Ether (The Space and/or Frequencies that is/are the echo of all places and things)
Oz – (Probably, a singular Realm that would include Winkie Country, Quadling Country)
Land of Legends from The Orient (maybe, an island cluster of similar but unique worlds)
Land of Milk & Honey (legendary Promised Land, alt. def.: land of “adult” abandonment/Pleasure Island)The list could go on and on, breaking down into particular Realms for every imaginable (and unimaginable) dimension, state of Being, culture, faith, as well as, the Collective Universe of Realms/Personal Mythos in each person’s own mind. The quest is infinite – and that’s the beauty of it, eh? Have fun!
possum snoodleParticipantHmm. Are we asking him as Geppetto or as the Actor?
If we’re asking the Actor, I’d ask about the official backstory/psychology he was given to play Geppetto as, and also, where does he draw his inspiration from, as an Actor, for the character.
Sort of a side angle on the psychology of Geppetto is, I’m wondering if Pinocchio was just a carved puppet and Geppetto was just a lonely, delusional man. You know, like kids’s dolls and stuffed animals are really alive to them and they go on adventures together but it’s really just “play time.” Except, for Geppetto, could there have been some psychological damage from a bad Life experience and Pinocchio was his way to escape the pain? I know in the Once-iverse we’re seeing the BF, Pin and Gep all interacting within the storyline but I’m just wondering about how the actor played it. Was it real or illusion? If it’s the character, Geppetto, I’d ask, about any past relationships, if he knows what the other enchanted trees were used for, and why his decision to force the Blue Fairy to agree to his deal on the Wardrobe was more important than all of the Realm or anyone else in the Realm.
Have fun at the convention! 😀
possum snoodleParticipantFor “insurance,” I’d say. Regina seems to have inherited many traits/habits/abilities from her Mother and holding a person for insurance may be a lesson she picked up from experience. More precisely, from the incident of her Father being held “for insurance.”
…POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD…
That whole heart-stealing-and-crushing power Regina gets from her Mother (I suppose) leads me to believe her Mother may end up being — The Queen of Hearts. The similarities of Regina’s heart vault and that of the one in the QofH's labyrinth in Wonderland/Hat Trick Episode are worth noting as possible connections to some kind of a relationship and history. Regina’s comments of being “all too familiar with” the certain effects of the mushroom means she has used/seen what [that stuff] can do. Then, she also quipped “she [QofH] sees me as some kind of a threat.”.
possum snoodleParticipantFirst, of all, good catch on the sequence because it could come back later in the story as something like you are suggesting. Of course, it could have just been ’cause Emma is special or simply an effects choice for visual impact.
However, there is ample room for speculation on many things surrounding the enchanted tree:
– How many could the tree actually transport? Did Blue Fairy omit facts, like with Rumple/curse?
– Why it was the last enchanted tree (seems a little odd in a realm of magic / who used them up?)
– Who or what else could have come through with Emma?
– if the tree portal is still active for two to return, like the Wonderland mirror.I rewatched the scene and saw what you saw and even viewed it frame by frame. The sequence went something like this:
Pinocchio in wardrobe, Geppetto closes doors
Wardrobe shakes, Geppetto opens doors
Pinocchio gone, Geppetto and Jiminy observe empty Wardrobe
Geppetto cries
Tree explodes with flash, rainbow ring, smoke
Pinocchio crawls out
Plane flies overhead, frightens him
Pinocchio goes to look into tree
Tree jolts him with some sort force field (one way ticket?)
Pinocchio is hurled to ground and appears to be knocked unconscious
Pinocchio sees flashbacks of events just prior to crawling into Wardrobe
Tree does the double flash rainbow thing
Pinnocchio seems fascinated by the effects, looks around
Emma appears in tree
Pinnochio gets EmmaPinocchio sees flashbacks I find this flashback and odd event, as we’ve just seen all this. So, it might be worth really looking at it again to determine if something was slightly altered for use in a later episode to explain another idea in the story. Like the double rainbow, it could be nothing – but slight-of-hand editing tricks can play heavily into plot twists when loose ends need to be tied together. For example, let’s say Jiminy Cricket hops into the Wardrobe and the wind blows the doors shut and there’s just an inkling of magic left to whisk him off but the rainbow shockwave pushes him so deep into the forest he doesn’t find Pinocchio…a new storyline develops etc, The same effect if another small being, like a fairy came through but intentionally hid until Pinocchio took Emma.
So, there are lots of paths to play on with the smallest of details and we all get to create new possible stories in our imaginations. That’s part of the magic of OUAT.
Keep those eyes peeled!
