ParticipantLiked:
Snowing scene in the sheriff station complete with the Snowing theme.
Belle- She is so adorable. She was so excited that Rumple was waking up. I hope she gets her happy ending with Rumple.
Rumple waking up.
Robin getting fuzzy feelings over his unborn child- I think Robin would be happy to share custody with Zelena if it meant he got to see his child. However, it looks like Regina may end up messing it up for him as she’s driving Zelena to desperation to escape so Regina doesn’t take her child.
The Robin/Hook bromance
The Charming/Arthur bromance- It’s a shame Arthur looks like he’s up to no good although I do wonder if that is what the writers want us to think and it’ll turn out that Arthur is a good guy after all who cares about his kingdom. Although perhaps Arthur is only a villain by proxy in that he’s not evil but because he’s against the “heroes” of the Charming/Mills clan.
Mixed:
Hook acknowledging that he was the villain in the scene when he challenged cripple Rumple to a duel and that Rumple was a good man trying to keep his family together- THIS is what I want to see from Hook, him recognising and acknowledging that his past action were wrong. It’s these little moments when you think that Hook has actually changed for the better and that he can be likeable despite his past mistakes. However Hook then turns it on himself about how he’s the only one who changed for the better and not Rumple and then you’re just like oh for god’s sake. Not every thing is about Hook, it makes him look self-centred.
Disliked:
Regina threatening to take Zelena’s baby- When you’re rooting for Zelena, you know Regina has dropped several rungs on the likeability ladder.
Snow dismissing the dwarves- These are supposed to be her friends. Grumpy even did the GotG thing to help Snow save Regina. Snow just comes across as ungrateful and uppity in this scene.
“Are you really suggesting we move forward in a real relationship?” followed later by “I liked breaking down your walls” then his rejection of Emma- What the hell, Hook? This is the woman you supposedly “love”. This is the woman you pursued for several seasons, now that there’s something “wrong” with her, you don’t want to know? seriously? The CS ship has just taken on a lot of water. That is a horrible way to speak to the woman you love. It’s not real love to reject Emma just because she’s not that “emotionally scarred” woman any more. The “real” Emma is still in there and you’ve just rejected her. You idiot Hook!

ParticipantJust because it wasn’t shown to the audience doesn’t mean they haven’t had time to hash out their friendship.
Can’t we just assume they’ve made up and developed quite a good friendship in the time we haven’t seen? Which I think is totally believable and not out of character for either of them.
I think this is the main sticking point for most people. It wasn’t shown to us. What we saw before with Hook doesn’t translate with what we’re seeing now. There was no bridge between point A and point B. If the writers want us to believe this is a genuine friendship, they needed to build it up on-screen. Not just go “Hook and Belle are friends now. How did they get to that point? We don’t know, we’ll just do a time skip and let the audience make up their own version of events”. That’s just lazy writing.
When Hook was helping Belle in the library, he did show some genuine friendly feelings towards her. For example, when Belle was getting upset that maybe her relationship with Rumple had been a lie all along, Hook reassured her that, despite Rumple’s faults, he did genuinely love her. That is a big step for Hook as he didn’t have to do that. He’s Rumple’s enemy so it would be so easy for him to badmouth him yet there he is saying that Rumple’s feeling for Belle were the real deal. I admit I’m not Hook’s biggest fan, but in that moment there I was like “good on you Hook”. The writers missed an opportunity there. They could’ve extended the scene after Hook tells Belle that Rumple’s love was genuine and have Hook sincerely apologise to Belle for hurting her when he was trying to get to Rumple. Right there with a few extra lines of dialogue and probably two minutes of extra screen time, you’ve removed a major reason people dislike the CaptainBeauty friendship.
We’ve not seen Hook genuinely apologise on screen for his behaviour towards Belle in season 2. His sarcastic little apology in season 3 didn’t cut it. You’re right that Belle and Hook worked six weeks together and they must’ve talked about something, for all we know Hook could’ve been on his hands and knees begging for Belle’s forgiveness. However, we need to see it on screen for it to count or at the very least be referenced as something that happened off screen with a line of dialogue. Would it really be so hard to have a character question the friendship then either Belle or Hook say that Hook apologised and all is forgiven?
When a character hurts another character (like Hook did to Belle in season 2), there needs to be a conclusion. Either an apology then forgiveness or revenge. It shouldn’t just be brushed aside then everything be hunky dory. We haven’t had a conclusion because the writers were too lazy to write one.
I’m actually not opposed to a CaptainBeauty friendship because, ironically, apart from Rumple, Hook is the only one of the “hero” gang that actually treats Belle as a person rather than just as a walking talking help point. I’m not going to lie, I do still have issues with Hook, but his friendship with Belle isn’t one of them. I just think the writers need to expand on the intricacies of that friendship.
If it’s any consolation Hook is not my least favourite character. That honour goes to Regina because of her double standards and hypocrisy, closely followed by Robin because of his uselessness and the fact his main purpose is just to be Regina’s love interest, then in third place it’s Hook though that is dependent on the episode as I like him better in some episodes than others, he is a very divisive character for me. You know that Regina has become unlikeable when you’re rooting for Zelena.

ParticipantA Hook and Belle friendship could work, however I definitely want to see him actually demonstrate clear remorse for his actions towards Belle rather than the writers using “Belle’s very forgiving” as an excuse to give Hook a free pass.

ParticipantI agree with pretty much what you’ve said RG. I don’t mind the love story between McConnell and the other guy because essentially it was the love story that was never to be, he never told her he loved her and now he never can. And that was the push the translator needed to confess his love for the deaf girl. It was clear they both had feelings for each other, but both were to afraid to tell each other.
I definitely prefer the episodes where, as you put it RG, the doctor does the heavy lifting. I think you can start seeing how Clara’s leaving is going to come about. What’s interesting is Clara’s line about how the doctor can die with the person after her but not with her. It seems to suggest that Clara is aware of the fact that she won’t be with the doctor forever, that there will inevitably be a replacement. It’s just interesting in the fact that we know Clara will be leaving but the character doesn’t.

ParticipantMaybe Merlin was working against the dark one? Both were separately trying to get the information they needed to complete their goal before the other one could complete theirs.

ParticipantSo once again, so long as Regina gets what she wants, who cares about anyone else.
I think Zelena should get to keep the baby and escape back to Oz.
