ParticipantI don’t think Rumple is actually going to die. The “death” he mentioned to heartless Belle seemed to be more of a metaphorical nature rather than a literal one.
I still want Rumbelle back together! No, they aren’t the kind of couple that I would ever support realistically, but I think that Rumple can still be redeemed.
I agree. Also, I don’t think ANY couple on the show are really ones you would ever support in real life but something about the show being heightened fiction enables the audience to have a kind permission to ship in a way they wouldn’t do in their every day life.

ParticipantDrama and angst for Rumbelle, apparently. And that makes me really mad. I really love for Belle to be in a healthy relationship for once. The last thing I want for her is to go back to Rumple, like she’s always done. He’s just going to lie and manipulate her…it’s a never ending cycle that seriously needs to just stop.
At least with Will, she has more development as her own character instead of just being a prop to make Rumple look better.
I disagree. Belle doesn’t get any development with Will. Will is not important. She gets more development with Rumple because Rumple is more integral to the story than Will is.Also note that Belle says it’s nice to “spend time” with Will rather than “being a relationship with” or “love”. Also Will’s line from last episode that he’s in the process of stealing Belle’s heart metaphorically implies that he’s aware that she doesn’t love him fully.
I think Will was never meant to be a serious relationship with Will and that’s hinted at in this scene.

This scene is full of Skin Deep call backs. For example, the rose, “You have my word” “then you have mine”. But also Belle says that Will is “nothing more than who he says he is” seems to contrast her line “love is layered, love is a mystery to be discovered” from Skin Deep. Also Belle describes her relationship with Will as “new” whereas the whole BaTB relationship is a “tale as OLD as time”. This scene seems to highlight the differences between the two relationships whilst also emphasising RumBelle.

ParticipantI think the author is going to be killed off.
I actually don’t think Rumple will die, temporary or otherwise. This scene when Rumple was talking to Belle pretty much says that.

We know Rumple’s heart is going black and losing it’s light spots. “In a manner of speaking” is the important part of the scene. Rumple isn’t going to literally die, but he likens his fate to being like death. Rumple has never been wholly evil, there has always been good in him which is what Belle always saw. As he said, he’ll “lose any ability to love” and the goodness that Belle saw in him “will be gone forever”. Rumple’s “death” isn’t a literal one, it’s a metaphorical on, the man Belle knew would be “dead” and in his place will be a loveless monster.

ParticipantShe got Hook to use the hat in Queen of Hearts so still had it in her possession then.

ParticipantThe Dark Star pharmacy is a lot bigger than I thought it was. I thought it was only a little corner shop type thing.
I have to agree that I think this is really Rumple pretending to be Regina than actual Regina. If it was the real Regina, it doesn’t make sense for her to aggravate Lily like she is doing.

ParticipantI posted this in the other thread but what if Rumple’s black heart isn’t necessarily the result of his actions but the result of being the dark one for such along time. Rumple has always chosen power because he’s afraid that without it he’ll go back to being a helpless victim. What if Rumple’s power is now killing him?

ParticipantTrue, but then they needed someone who looked like they could be related to Maleficent and Agnes does look like she could be related. Perhaps it’s a kind of retroactive “problem”, for lack of a better word, when young Lily was cast the casting department weren’t told about the Mal connection so anybody could be young Lily. With adult Lily, they needed her to look related to Mal?

ParticipantI think the mistake they made with Rumple in 4A is that they never showed his more humanising moments (they all ended up as deleted scenes) and they never explained his motivation for doing what he said so he came across as power-mad for the sake of it. Rumple clings to his power and magic, not because he’s power-hungry, but because he’s afraid that without it, he’d go back to being what he was: a helpless victim. Rumple is caught in an addiction that he can’t seem to break free of but rather than explore that issue, the writers have his actions pinned as “for the evulz”.
I do actually wonder if Rumple’s black heart isn’t the result of what he’s done but as a consequence of being the dark one. He’s been the dark one a lot longer than most people are dark ones so what if it is just the effect of being the dark one for such a long time? Rumple likens not being able to feel any kind of love as a type of death, wouldn’t it be somewhat fitting if Rumple’s power was killing him, much like drugs do to a drug user?

ParticipantThat doesn’t make sense to me. Casting decisions for guest-star roles can be changed before filming actually starts. It happens all the time (e.g. recasting of Robin Hood). It might’ve meant disappointing Agnes Bruckner after originally getting the role, but actors deal with rejection all the time. It wasn’t too late to cast someone else of Latina heritage before filming began, because the casting call went out before filming ever began.
Recasting Robin Hood was down to a scheduling conflict. Tom couldn’t commit for the time they needed him to commit so the part was recast. That’s a little different than saying to someone “You’ve got the job” then a few weeks later turning around and saying “Actually we’ve changed our minds because you’re not latina”. That’s discrimination so their hands were tied.

ParticipantJust watched the newest episode. I’m actually disappointed Barbara didn’t die. I’m waiting for it, waiting and she managed to survive.
I feel the same way about Clara on Doctor Who. I’m waiting for her to leave and am disappointed when she doesn’t. The Christmas special was ruined by her deciding to stay.
I’m a little behind on Gotham but we’re going to get the first Ogre episode on Monday and I’m looking forward to it. 🙂
