But I would be glad if for once there is a villain that his evil just for the sake of it. Every baddy in the show is bad because of a sad or tragic background. Having a new one and then explaining that she is like that because her moma was killed in front of her or something like that, it would be lame and ridiculous. It not because “Evil isn’t born, it’s made” that it’s a reason valid enough to overuse it.

Tamara lacks that certain something that makes her likeable as a pure evil villain. A good villain is one where you know the hero is going to win, but you kind of hope the villain wins instead. With Tamara, I want the heroes to hurry up and beat her.

People liked Regina as a villain before she was given a tragic backstory in The Stable boy. Tamara lacks that likability factor that Regina had.

“A rat!” Charming shrieked jumping onto a chair. “Get rid of it!”

Henry gasped with surprise at his grandparents’ sudden return. He look at Snow who rolled her eyes over Charming’s reaction.

“What did you used to do on your farm when you saw a rat?” Snow questioned her husband.

“My mother always saw to them” Charming replied, not taking his eyes off the rat that was running around the kitchen.

We know Skin Deep season 1 episode 12 happened Valentines day (though the episode actually aired 12 Feb not 14 so that’s not exactly same time). The Doctor season 2 episode 5 happened around Halloween because there were pumpkins around Granny’s Diner. So between February and October the events of 15 episodes need to occur. 15 episode events over the course of 9 months is possible especially if there are time jumps between events in Storybrooke where nothing was happening such as 2 weeks passing timewise between Graham’s death and Emma running for Sheriff.

However, Emma’s birthday has likely been skipped this season since Storybrooke is running in present day and Emma’s birthday is in October. October in Storybrooke was episode 5 of season 2.

The Joker is such an iconic role though so it’s not really fair to compare that with Tamara’s role as a villain.

SwanFire shippers hated Tamara the moment she was introduced because she would be standing in the way of Emma and Bae getting together. Most of the fanbase hates her after her actions in Selfless, Brave and True. They need to give her some sort reason as to why she’s doing what she is other than “because she’s evil” especially in this show where “evil isn’t born, it’s made”.

Fair enough on the Joker. How about Buffy villains? The only one who one could claim had a sob story was Angel. The Master, The Mayor, Adam, Glory, the First, they were pure evil, simple as that, and some of them were villains people really loved, like the Mayor.

Not all villains need sob stories. This “evil isn’t born, it’s made” is fine with Regina and Rumple, since them being main characters means their lives can’t be all about doing evil, but there’s no need for that for guest villains like Tamara.

Spike started as a villain and had a bit of a sob story past revealed in later seasons. Of course by that time, he wasn’t evil anymore.

I think the reason why the Buffy villains got away with just being pure evil and were still liked was because they were so charismatic and had a sense of humour. Spike was originally meant to be a villain killed off during season 2 but he was so popular with the fanbase that he was kept on the show. When Buffy kicked him into the Organ, he was meant to die but because of his popularity they injured him instead. In some ways I actually prefer season 2 evil Spike over Chip in the head Spike.

Tamara lacks that certain something that makes her likeable as a villain. A good villain is one where you know the hero is going to win, but you kind of hope the villain wins instead. With Tamara, I want the heroes to hurry up and beat her.

The breadcrumbs led through the backdoor of Granny’s Diner kitchen. Emma quietly sneaked in and saw the magical toaster on the counter top next to a whole batch of Granny’s toasters.

“Arise my toaster brethrin” called the magical toaster haughtily.

    Granny’s toasters didn’t move.

“Arise I said!” screamed the magical toaster out of frustration.

There is also the possibility that Rumple takes on the role of Ursula, which is why Regina went to ask Rumple about the mermaid. Both Rumple and Ursula have a love for deals (they both make people sign contracts at some point), and often they know more about the deals they are making than the other people involved. Additionally, ‘Desperate Souls’ sounds a lot like ‘Poor, Unfortunate Souls.” And finally Rumple said that the squid ink was found at the bottom of the ocean and you could not get it unless you were a mermaid or ‘ME’. Which suggests he has been to the bottom of the ocean, and thus could be more plausible to take on the role of Ursula.

I prefer to think that Rumple took on Ursula in a fight and won.

“We mean it’s fighting back!” Charming exclaimed.

“Oh my god!” Snow cried, so suddenly it startled Charming.

“What? Is the cereal coming?” Charming looked nervously behind him.

Horror filled Snow’s eyes. “We left Henry inside!”

“Rumplestiltskin, you get away from me with that cane!” Emma shrieked as Rumple chased after her.

Belle, having just stepped out of the library, watched the scene unfolding before her with bewilderment.
