Participant“Well I’m not Regina” replied Emma, a little more defensively than she intended. Ever since Henry had compared her to Regina in Manhattan, Emma had wanted to avoid as many similarities with Regina as possible. Breakfast was just the start. Emma blocked the poor victimised toaster from Henry’s view. He hadn’t seen it yet but she’d dicovered magic and toasters don’t mix.

ParticipantSnow White quickly lowered her hand. She had been about ring the doorbell but Regina had already opened the door. “Regina” Snow managed to say as she tried to organise her thoughts for what she was about to ask. An awkward silence passed between the two women.

ParticipantIt would make for an interesting dynamic between Emma and Neal. Emma tries to warn Neal about Tamara’s true intentions and Neal thinks Emma is just being jealous of his relationship with Tamara. Meanwhile, Tamara is being all sweetness and light to Neal while at the same time planning to get rid of Emma.

Participant“Why don’t you make breakfast, Henry?” Emma said, hoping that her son would eagerly take on the challenge without burning the apartment down in the process.

ParticipantI wonder how they are going to make Tamara sympathetic to the audience. All the villains on this show have had some redeeming qualities so what are Tamara’s going to be?

How many Hookers would actually have this reaction upon seeing Colin O’Donoghue in real life?

ParticipantGoing slightly off-track here. I started writing this before christmas, after Queen of Hearts but before the Cricket Game. If anyone would like to help continue writing it, feel free. It’s not quite within the theme of unlikely friendships yet but it could end up that way?
It was a couple of days before Christmas, and Regina decorated the house with Henry just like they used to before Emma came to Storybrooke. They hung up decorations and decorated the tree with lights, tinsel and baubles. For a few glorious hours Regina let herself believe she had Henry all to herself again, until Henry let slip that he was going to spend Christmas day with Emma and his grandparents. She pretended that she didn’t mind, that she understood how he wanted to spend time with Emma since her return from the enchanted forest, but inside her heart was breaking. She wanted to be better for Henry, to show him that she could be a good person, but he never seemed to be around long enough to see how much she was really trying. He’d rather spend his time with Emma, a fact that Rumplestiltskin took great pleasure in reminding her of. As much as she detested the twisted little imp, she’d come to the disheartening conclusion that he was the closest thing she had to a friend in this town. When Emma came and collected Henry, Regina compliantly bid him goodbye, giving him an extra hug as it was Christmas. She never wanted to let him go, her son, the baby she watched grow into a bright child. She smiled as he waved to her, never once letting him see how much his departure hurt her. With the front door closed, shielding her away from the rest of Storybrooke, Regina let her smile drop and the tears flow freely. The house that felt warm and cosy only a few moments ago in the presence of her son now seemed cold and empty. The twinkling glow of the Christmas tree lights did nothing to lift her spirits, Christmas meant nothing without Henry.
She pulled out Henry’s stocking from its hiding place and remembered how his face would light up when he came downstairs Christmas morning and saw it crammed full of presents. She rubbed her thumb over the coarse gold thread of Henry’s embroidered name, a stark contrast to the soft material of the stocking. Henry’s my son she thought darkly. He should be spending Christmas with me!
She grabbed her coat and was halfway out the front door when it occurred to her that an angry confrontation with Emma would not endear herself to Henry. She needed Henry to want to spend Christmas with her, she needed to get him something special, something that Emma couldn’t possibly get him. Electrical items weren’t of any interest to him, he was too enamoured with that blasted book of his, filling his head with stories of good and evil and magic. Clothes, though practical, weren’t special and the toys she’d seen in shop windows were nothing more than cheap junk. She needed something out of the ordinary, something exceptional, something magical. With a destination in mind, she set off for Rumplestiltskin’s shop.
She took her car, stopping to allow Snow’s dwarves to cross the road probably on the way to the mines to search for more diamonds. A part of her was tempted to press her foot down on the accelerator; it would be six less nuisances for the New Year. She reached Rumplestiltskin’s shop without incident.
“No Christmas tree, Rumple?” she remarked breezily as she entered the imp’s lair.
Rumplestiltskin was disturbed from his thoughts, displeased at seeing the woman entering his shop. “When people come to see me, Christmas cheer is normally the last thing on their mind. What do you want, Regina?”
“Is that any way to speak to a potential customer?” She teased. She could tell he was in a bad mood, which meant that he’d had another falling out with his little librarian. Noticing the venomous glare she was receiving, Regina knew better than to push her luck, especially with him, so she got to her point. “I’m looking for something for Henry.”
“And what sort of thing did you have in mind?” Rumplestiltskin didn’t want to endure Regina’s company longer than necessary.
“Something magical but not dangerous” replied Regina. “Size is not an issue but the bigger the better”
“Rumplestiltskin smirked. “I see. Henry spending Christmas with you is he?”
“Of course, I’m his mother” answered Regina warily; the imp’s sudden change in mood was unsettling. “Why do you ask?”
“I heard that Henry was going to spend Christmas with Miss Swan this year, a big family occasion. Either I’ve been misinformed or you’ve come in here to try and buy Henry’s affection. I take it you weren’t invited?” Rumplestiltskin awaited Regina’s response with anticipation. He hoped she was going to lie; he’d have more fun that way.
