Keeper of FelixGetting another Hook won’t be that simple. I don’t mind Hook, don’t care what happens to him either way, but it would be really off putting if they had a different actor especially when it comes to flashbacks. We have Hook already in flashbacks so it would look odd if he suddenly looked older in flashbacks set chronologically before he broke into Belle’s cell.

Charming: Henry wasn’t too much trouble was he?
Regina: No, not at all. You can trust me with him, it’s not like I accidentally burnt him and had him healed before you saw.
Charming: Glad to hear it. Henry sure is being affectionate today.
Rumplestiltskin: Bet I can get Charming to prick his finger on this.
Regina: He’s not that stupid. No way will you get him to do that.
Rumplestiltskin: Just watch me.
Charming: That needle is about ten inches long. Why would I want to poke my finger with it?

Charming: Wait, this isn’t some sort of trick is it? Your’e not lying to me again are you, Rumple?

I would say Hook is younger than Rumple because it would make sense for Milah to leave Rumple for a younger man. Hook was offering Milah a life without responsibilities. It is a comman trait for youth to ignore responsibility and go off looking for fun and adventure.

I’m okay with Colin in the role, but I get what others are saying about an older, more seasoned actor. Jason Isaacs played my favorite portrayal of Hook for reference. He brought a terrific sense of menace and sexiness to the role despite being in a children’s movie. He has a very powerful presence onscreen. An actor of his caliber and presence playing against Robert Carlyle could have been electrifying. Colin’s very attractive, and I like him, but he does get lost against the other villians. Compared to the strong presences of Cora, Rumple, and Regina, he’s kinda like the Diet Coke of evil. Just one calorie… not quite evil enough. Still I’m going to give him more time and just see where they take this incarnation of Hook.

Hook seems more like a villain wannabe than a true villain. He has his moments of villainy especially against Belle but he requires Cora to make him look good. Also, Rumple has softened a bit since being reunited with Belle, Rumple in full on dark one mode would have eliminated Hook in seconds. Hook owes his continuing survival in Storybrooke to Belle.
