Another thing with the CSF triangle is that it never really had a resolution. Emma didn’t get to CHOOSE which guy she wanted to be with. In fact, Hook only won by default because Neal was taken out of the equation. Emma never actively chose Hook on his own merits, she ended up with him because her choice had been taken away.

I think there are two issues with that particular scene.

    1. Hook being all snarky about Henry’s writing. It makes him look ungrateful since the only reason Henry and any of the others are there is to rescue Hook so he should be showing a bit more gratitude towards them instead of putting Henry down.

    2. None of the others called Hook out on what he said. Clearly it upset Henry, but instead of any of the others perhaps saying to Hook “You shouldn’t have said that” or “you didn’t need to say it like that” they just ignored what Hook did and went “Oh Henry’s just being a teenager” which is kind of out of order since it’s as if the characters are wilfully overlooking Hook’s shortcomings.

I do wonder if there is a disconnect between the writers writing Hook and how they want him to be perceived and how he is actually being perceived. A great example is Hook’s line from the season 3 Neverland arc where he says to Emma “When I win your heart, Emma, and I will win it, it won’t be because of any trickery”.

Now during 3A I was constantly back and forth on where I stood on the CSF triangle (up to Dark Hollow when this line was said) so consequently I visited both the CS and SF thread. I always had a problem with that particular line. I thought it presumptuous, I thought it sounded cocky and it was as if Emma had no say in the matter because Hook told her that “when” he wins and that he “will win” her heart. I disliked that line intensely. However, the CSers liked it saying it was Hook being confident because he knew Emma had feelings for him.

That line could have been changed to sound better than it came out. Instead of “when” use “if” and cut out the middle part. So instead of:

“When I win your heart, Emma, and I will win it, it won’t be because of any trickery”.

    It should’ve been:

“IF I win your heart, it won’t be because of any trickery”

With Hook’s line to Henry last episode, I wonder if the writers intention for it wasn’t how it was received.

Belle’s absolutely right, but like Henry with Regina she’s probably going to have to accept SOME dark magic

Ahhh, but isn’t that dangerous? “Yes, dear. You can use dark magic for this case because of reason XYZ.” What happens next time? Should it really be a case by case basis or should be simply No Dark Magic, Full Stop.

I agree. Where do you draw the line? It’s a little bit here, a little bit there, then some more next time and more after that. In fact that is exactly how addictions start: you have a substance (alcohol, drugs) and you get a buzz so you keep doing it to get that buzz, however over time you body starts to build up a resistance so then it takes a little bit more of the substance to get that same buzz and over time it’ll just keep building and building until you end up with a full blown addiction.

My question would be what defines dark magic? what makes magic dark? Is it a force that can be used for good AND evil like the internet and it all depends on the user, or is there an actual this magic is bad/this magic is good mentality going on?

Rumple was the “light one” in the AU although in reality he was the “dark one” (he said in the AU that the magic had no price because it’s light magic yet throughout the show we’ve constantly been reminded that ALL magic comes with a price). The fairies use magic and there supposed to be good (although Blue is sneaky fairy). If light magic and dark magic are separate entities, why can’t Rumple just tap into light magic? What makes the dark one the “dark one”?

Well I think he nailed his answer. Neal never liked Hook very much. But he loved Emma unconditionally. And now that he has moved on, I think MRJ is right that Neal just wants Emma to be happy, whoever that may be with.

    Quote

That’s the point though. He’s not saying “yeah, Hook’s a great guy” or praising Hook in anyway. In fact, he actively avoids mentioning Hook personally.

“And if that means being with someone else, then that’s what he wants.”

“Someone else” means someone who isn’t Neal, rather than Hook specifically. He didn’t say “And if that means being with Hook, then that’s what he wants.”

I think MRJ chose his words very carefully when answering that particular question.

Emma is “apparently” happy with Hook. Neal wants Emma to be happy. There is a distinction between the two. Neal is not endorsing Hook, he’s endorsing Emma’s happiness. He’s not saying CS should be together forever, he’s saying so long as Emma is happy with the relationship then Neal wouldn’t stand in the way of it.

Interesting that, when asked whether Neal is endorsing Emma and Hook, that MRJ doesn’t give a straight answer. He kind of tries to avoid the question instead of giving a yes or no answer.

    I really like Zelena’s skirt.

I think the flower is going to wither away in Hade’s hand. Maybe he see’s it, picks it up, has a “how can this be” or “is this for real” reaction then the flower dies and rapidly decays in his hand.

Hook just comes across as being really ungrateful for what the others have done for him. You’d think the writers would try to write him in a way where he’s at least likeable but apparently not.

They’re killing a lot of characters on shows this year (14) unless a show has multiple casualties

    My predictions:

Giving birth- Belle (They’ll probably accelerate the pregnancy)

Couples saying I love you- Zelena to Hades (I ship this ship and want it to be successful)

Wedding- Possibly Zelena and Hades (Zelena might be OUAT’s Persephone)

Couple’s reuniting- Possibly RumBelle because they have a habit of splitting up and getting back together every season.

Fatalities- Obviously Robin. Perhaps some others as well. Dorothy? Red? Mulan?

Break ups- RumBelle (continuing their seasonal habit of break up and make up)

Leaving town (For good or temporarily?)- Most of the main cast according to spoilers but they return to Storybrooke

Resurections- Technically Hook because he was dead but is being brought back to life.

Engagement- CS though I hope not

    Timewarp- Once upon a time.

But on a slightly lighter note: What if aborting the child would give Hades exactly what he wants? The child’s soul would become his, therefore entirely defeating the purpose of ending its life. Narratively speaking, this is the only way i could see them considering this possibility.

How is that a lighter note?

Anyways, I seriously doubt Disney would allow Once to show one of the Disney Princesses having an abortion. Belle is not getting rid of the child because she clearly wants it. The smile on her face when Rumple told her she was pregnant says it all.

I do wonder if they will accelerate Belle’s pregnancy though, hand wave it as the effect of the underworld or something. Just had a thought!!!! What if the birth of RumBelle’s baby helps make the underworld better by allowing things to grow or whatever it was Hades was saying couldn’t happen. Kind of like new life and all. New life defeats death.

I thought Rumple threw Milah in the river of souls AFTER Hades told him that Belle was pregnant and that he had the contract for the second born?
