ParticipantI think the perception of bravery is being called into question. Is bravery not being afraid or is it being absolutely terrified yet carrying through with a course of action in order to protect the ones you love?

ParticipantIn Price of Gold, Emma says to Henry (in regards to Ashley) “anyone who wants to be a mother should damn well allow to be one”. Regina wants to be a mother to Henry but Emma’s not going to allow that which is technically hypocritical of Emma. Regina did a fairly decent job raising Henry however she wasn’t meeting his emotional needs and he felt like she didn’t love him and that she only pretended to. This may not be entirely Regina’s fault, enacting the curse left a void that she would never be able to fill, so it is possible that she loves Henry as much as she is capable but it isn’t good enough. On the other hand, Regina isn’t a great mother, she will often put her own wants and needs above Henry and even when Henry gets hurt, she doesn’t care so long as she can get one up on Emma.

He had another option. He could have let Bae go. That is what Bae wanted. He could have tried to run again.
Like Midnight Dreary said, what parent would willingly let their 14 year old child go off to die? It was already established in the episode that running away was no longer an option and Rumple was running out of time. The night he kills the dark one is the night before Bae’s birthday. In a way Rumple was being brave, rather than being a coward and just letting his son get taken away, Rumple went “as far as it takes” in order to protect Bae.

It didn’t take much to tip Rumpel into murdering the dark one and it takes a lot to tip a normal person into killing someone for the first time. Though that may just be the bad writing that is Desperate Souls.

ParticipantCould the blue fairy have been watching Rumple and Bae before Bae called for her help? The part where she says “You’re a very good son, Baelfire. You are the part of him that keeps him human. That little light inside of him that still glows. It’s his love for you.” How would she know that? How did she know Bae’s name when he didn’t tell her and she initially called him “child”?
