I was watching “The Return” tonight and I noticed two things that made me think.

First, Mr. Gold has Bae’s ball and he keeps it in his shop. He keeps it in what I think is like a special display, but still in the shop. While he keeps Belle’s chipped cup in his home, closer to him. Of course Bae is special for him, everything he’s been doing has been for Bae. But I think the fact he keeps the cup in the safety of his home shows how much Belle really means to him.

Mr Gold does seem to spend more time in his shop, though that is an interesting point you brought up. I think Bae’s ball is a reminder for Rumple of why he’s done the things he’s done and why he has to play the “making a deal with the devil” facade. It’s almost like his “business” side. Whereas in the privacy of his own home, he can openly mourn for his lost love and let his softer side out, the side that nobody else gets to see.

And second, I noticed the way Rumplestiltskin treats his maid Onora. She acts very shy and nervous around him and then he dismisses her waving his hand, ordering her to go away. Of course, he was worried about her overhearing all the dagger thing. But still, I don’t think he ever treated Belle that way. Belle was the queen of the castle. She could just go and sit on his table and everything was alright. I have the feeling he didn’t want Belle to be his caretaker. Sometimes I believe he saw she was in danger living in his father’s castle, what with war and all, and that she was alone, trapped, ignored and maybe he genuinely wanted to help her, to set her free. I don’t know… just a random thought.

I think Rumple did originally want Belle as a caretaker, for the reason that he was lonely. He didn’t set out to fall in love with Belle, he only wanted some sort of companionship, and it confused and scared him when he did develop feelings for her. A difference between Belle and Onora is that Belle didn’t treat Rumple like a monster whereas Onora did and was scared of him. Belle and Rumple developed a sort of friendship where they were comfortable around each other and when he caught her after she fell off the ladder, they shared a moment, which they were both aware of because they both started acting awkwardly. They both obviously got over that awkwardness because Belle was asking Rumple about his son and Rumple felt comfortable enough to give Belle the rose.

This, with the pictures of Regina and Rumple on set, has me very excited!

I know, I just saw them! 😀 But I have no idea what they’re up to. I’m caught between them making another deal, Rumpel threatening her, or this being a flashback.

I like the idea of it possibly being a flashback. An episode focussing on the day the curse ended and flashing back to the day the curse started.

I had an odd dream the other day where Belle was dressed as a highwayman and was robbing carriages in fairytale land. Charming called a meeting to set a trap which Belle turned up to wearing her yellow dress with her father so she knew about the trap. Charming threw a hissy fit because his trap failed so Snow had to sing him to sleep. The next day Charming and Snow took a carriage ride around the forest and Belle dressed in the highwayman outfit turned up to rob them. Charming pulled out his sword and started sword fighting with Belle. Belle won by kicking Charming in the groin area so Snow started fighting with Belle instead. Snow won somehow and then there was this dramatic unmasking moment where Charming pulls off Belle’s mask. Belle’s father then randomly popped up by Belle’s side and asked Snow and Charming to forgive Belle. Snow agreed and Charming was all WTF.
