I don’t know. Part of me wants to say it’s a continuity issue, but they have to write it somehow into the story. Even if it is just Rumple demanding Cinderella’s baby. But really, I think something happened to Rumple between the Charming scene and when they captured him. Something big. He was drinking heavily from his flask, he looked more monster-like, and he was more psychotic. Did he break after losing Belle?
I hope they show it, because I think Gold could be a real asset to the Charmings in the future. I hope they don’t think they could recapture him, because he knew it was a setup the first time. He knew when he signed the scroll that he was going to be captured. Plus, they’d have a bunch of Rumple fangirls storming the writers’ room for OUaT.
When Rumpel was actually imprisoned, I think his regrets over Belle and Bae definitely unhinged him because he had nothing else to do but think. However before that, I reckon he was just trying to get on with his life and not dwell on the mistakes he made.
Skin Deep takes place before Dreamy.
Dreamy takes place before 7:15 A.M.
7:15 A.M. takes place before Heart of Darkness.
Heart of Darkness before An apple red as blood.
AARAB before A Land without Magic.
ALWM happens sometime before The Price of Gold.Rumpel was never friends with Snow or Charming to begin with but I agree that something must have happened for them to go after him quite like they did. Cinderella’s baby wasn’t the first time that Rumpel dealt in children. Charming’s twin brother was the price for saving his parent’s farm and Rumpel made that deal in order to procure a child for George and his wife. Perhaps Rumpel’s deals were generally becoming more nasty and it was decided that the kingdom would be better of without him preying on the desperation of the poor. Snow would have been pregnant and married by the time of The Price of Gold so they would have had Regina’s threat looming over them.Maybe they wanted to take Rumpel out of the game before Regina could use him as an ally.
In Stroybrooke, Snow and Charming are going to have to choose which is the lesser of the two evils between Rumpel and Regina.

I don’t think Maurice/Mo harmed his daughter in either world. I think that Regina completely made up the story in FTL and locked her up in SB. I don’t have any proof for this, but we all know Regina is very capable of doing that and more. Also, I don’t think that Regina captured Belle in FTL. I think she just made sure she was imprisoned as part of the curse, the same way that she made special provisions for Maleficent and Jefferson. Again, no proof for this, just a hunch.
BTW, cute name for this thread!I agree. Belle told Rumpel how she had wanted to see the world and I think that’s what she started doing. When the curse hit, it locked Belle away because that would take away her happy ending. She and Rumpel were already apart so, unlike Snow and Charming who the curse tore apart, taking away Belle’s true love wouldn’t have been effective, keeping Belle locked up was.
As for Maurice, I don’t think he would ever hurt Belle intentionally. Even though he was desperate to stop the ogres, he turned Rumpel away when he said he wanted Belle in exchange for his help. As far as Maurice was concerned, Belle was still with Rumpel whilst Rumpel believed her to be dead so neither one was looking for Belle. Belle spoke to Grumpy in “Dreamy” and that was sometime after she left Rumpel and there was no indication that anyone was after her. After Regina told Rumpel about Belle’s death and he accused her of lying, she replied “Am I?” She neither confirmed nor denied what she was saying was true but let Rumpel draw his own conclusions which he did.
In Storybrooke, I don’t think Moe was even aware he had a daughter but now that his memories are back, I can see him and Rumpel clashing over Belle especially if Maurice/Moe thinks Rumpel has bewitched Belle into loving him.

ParticipantDidn’t one of the creators say in an interview that Henry’s father wasn’t going to be just some random bloke but would actually be quite significant or something along those lines.

Detailed Casting Calls for OUaT Episode 2.01
ONCE UPON A TIME, Ep. 201
Director: Dean White
Writers: Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz
Shoots: July 13 – 27
Location: Vancouver[ANASTASIA] Female, early to mid 20s. Born into a life of wealth and privilege, Anastasia was raised every bit the polished princess. But beneath the shiny veneer of a spoiled young girl beats the heart of a woman willing to sacrifice everything for love. Recurring Guest Star.
[MAGNOLIA] Female, Asian. Early to mid 20s. A warrior first and foremost, she could hold her own against a swordsman or even a king. She is trained in weaponry, tracking and riding, but has a spirituality that enhances her tactical and strategic abilities. Like the flower she’s named for, Magnolia is beautiful and may, to the uninformed, seem delicate; her roots, however, go deep—she has an intuitive connection to the land and to the creatures who inhabit it. She can “hear” the breathing of the earth or “see” a camouflaged animal. She is well-versed in the philosophies of her people and is able to see the larger picture. She has suffered past betrayals, so her trust is hard-won, but once she gives her oath of friendship her loyalty knows no boundaries. Similarly, when she falls in love, she falls hard—Magnolia’s armor protects a fierce heart. Recurring Guest Star.
Anastasia sounds like she could be Ariel or Jasmine though I would say Ariel.
Magnolia definitely sounds like she could be either Pocahontas, Mulan or possibly Jasmine. So far of the Disney princesses they have in the show, they have Snow White, Belle and Cinderella. The two they haven’t added yet are Ariel and Jasmine along with Sleeping Beauty though she has been mentioned. Jasmine is also the name of a flower.

ParticipantAll Rumpel would need to do is say to Emma that Regina has magic and she’s coming to reclaim Henry. Emma is going to then be more concerned about Regina than Rumpel. Snow and Charming are going to want to protect their grandson from Regina as well. Considering everyone is going to have both their Storybrooke and fairytale memories, Rumpel has played a clever game because his part in everything is still undiscovered to the other characters. For example, as far as Snow is aware, Regina tried to frame her for murder and Rumpel tried to defend her.
So far, Rumpel appears to be the lesser of the two evils and he will use that to his advantage.

ParticipantI call that Rumpel won’t take his revenge on Regina for what she did to Belle until towards the end of the season.
Rumpel’s got a plan which he set in motion before Belle turned up. Rumpel will want to make Regina pays for what she did, however, he is a patient man, and he would want to make sure his plan is successful before he takes his revenge.
At the moment, Regina doesn’t know Rumpel has Belle so she probably thinks she still has a bargaining chip in regards to him. Her alliance with Jefferson is broken so unless he reveals that he released Belle and told her to find Rumpel, Regina is probably going to think she can get Rumpel to play for her side. All Rumpel needs to do is make out he’s Regina’s ally and ensure that Belle is out of sight then he’s in prime position to screw Regina over.

ParticipantRumpel brought magic back for a reason. He often plays two sides against the middle and gets what he can from the situation which I think is what he’s going to do with Snow/Charming and Regina. He’s going to direct everyone’s fury towards Regina whilst carrying out his own plans before finally taking his revenge on Regina towards the end of the season. I think Rumpel knew that when he brought magic back, Regina would be able to use it too, so he’s got a plan for that should the need arise.
