Also, how have you not seen Broadchuch? You’re British. It’s a crime against nature to not have watched S1 and marvel at Tennant and Olivia Colman. The Queen is judging you right now.

I’m actually not sad about having to wait a whole year which shows that I don’t care about the show anymore. Had this announcement come during Tennant’s or Smith’s run, it would be torture, but not now.

As for the new showrunner, it’ll be interesting. Broadchurch is supposed to be fantastic though I’ve not watched it, but those episodes of Doctor Who listed certainly aren’t amongst my favourite.

I think the show jumped the shark right around the time they killed off Neal and none of the other characters acknowledged how huge it was and seemingly just moved on with their lives as if nothing had happened.

The 11/11 split has not been good for the show. They’re trying to cram a season’s worth of plot into half a season so everything seems rushed, threads are left hanging, questions aren’t answered.

Character development is poor. It’s hard to care about the characters writing wise, it’s only because the actors put so much heart and soul into it that they manage to carry the scene. Characters are plot driven rather than adhering to natural character development.

All in all the show is dying a slow and painful death. THe best we can hope for is that the characters at least marginally resemble their former selves by the end of it.

I think deleted scenes can be canon if the only reason they were cut was for timing. They don’t change the story dramatically but they might enhance certain aspects eg In Thor: the dark world, there is a deleted scene where Thor is speaking to his mother about Loki and whether or not she regrets teaching Loki magic. Frigga replies no as Thor and Odin “cast large shadows” and she wanted to help Loki “find some sun for himself”. This scene doesn’t alter any of the events storywise in either Thor movies but it does enhance why Loki is so driven to do what he does.

An example where deleted scenes perhaps shouldn’t be considered canon is X-Men: days of future past where Rogue was supposed to have a bigger role but her scenes were cut and thus we got the movie that we did. A “Rogue cut” of the movie was later released on DVD with the deleted Rogue scenes put back into the film which IMO actually made for the better movie but having her scenes in the film changed the story considerably (though did give an explanation for why the sentinels were as lethal as they were). It’s up to the audience to decide whether they want the original cut or the Rogue cut to be canon but the original cut did come first.

With OUAT, it’s difficult because you get some deleted scenes that should’ve been in show but were cut for timing eg Emma talking to Henry after Neal’s death. You get some scenes that are more or less useless or their absence doesn’t affect the story in any way eg Rumple taking something from rip van winkle. Then you get some deleted scene which would contradict something later on in the show but then don’t matter because they were deleted scenes eg Originally Rumple’s dad wasn’t going to be any more than some guy that tried to abandon Rumple before he was killed but this was later changed to Pan being Rumple’s dad.

IMO whether or not a deleted scene is canon depends on if it was only cut for timing reasons and if it enhances certain aspects of the story without changing the story dramatically.

    PLOT TWIST:

    It’s Graham. Not Neal.

    Quote

    You say that but:

    Graham was killed by Regina

He had feelings for Emma and Emma began to have feelings for him so you’ve already got that “love triangle” element for CS. Add in Milah and it becomes a quadrangle as both parts of CS then have temptation.

Graham is brown haired and bearded like Hook but without all the baggage and dark deeds which would make him a more appealing prospect than Hook which would cause Hook to worry.

    Graham has ties to Snow

Oh. I use biological age to differentiate from chronological…those who were frozen by the curse (most of the FTL characters) are 28 years older chronologically than they are biologically.

Those who were in Neverland (Hook & Neal) or otherwise frozen agewise by magic (like Aurora or Rumple) at some point may be even older chronologically. But biologically, they are whatever cumulative age magic did not affect them for. So Rumple is still around 50 biologically despite being a good 200 chronologically.

    Quote

I don’t think Rumple is quite as old as 200. Going, by RC’s age, Rumple was about 50 (though at this point the character could be younger than RC) when Bae fell through the portal and met the Darlings. We know Wendy was stuck in Neverland for “over a century” (PP normally takes place round the early 1900s, Present day Storybrooke started 2011 so that would be about 110 years give or take since 3A was only a week, Skin Deep was 2012, and season 2 happens in 2012. Add 28 years for the dark curse, 50 + 110 + 28= 188. So Rumple is nearly 200 but not quite there yet.

Regina I think was 19/20/21 in Stable boy hence the “Old maid” comment from Cora because in those types of days, Dowries were a thing. The younger a woman could be married off the better because she would be worth more than an older woman.

Snow went from Bailey Madison to Ginny Goodwin between the events of Stable Boy and Fruits of the poisonous tree. In a later episode, I think Smash the mirror or the episode where everyone has a go at each other, Regina brings up Daniel and Snow shouts back “I was 10”. Assuming Snow to be around the 18/19/20 there when she had to go into exile add a couple of years for her to get good at banditry and be proficient to live on her own away from Red, there is 6 years between her meeting Charming and the curse being cast. Snow is supposed to be around 28 when she gives birth to Emma. There is 9 months between Regina threatening the curse and actually casting it (Pan and Felix managed it in less than 24 hours so what the hell was Regina doing all that time?) 6 years seems an awful long time to wage a war against both George and Regina who had allied with each other so Snow may have been slightly older than 20 when she went into exile. Add 28 years curse, so Snow would be supposedly 56.

Regina being about 10 years older than Snow would make her in her mid 60s give or take. Zelena being older would make her late 60s?

Interesting. If she’s looking at old OUAT scripts, could we actually be getting an episode that maintains continuity with earlier episodes instead of contradicting them?

Where is it from? Is there a video? Or an interview? It could have been taken out of context..

I think it was from a special where the cast had to answer questions sent in by fans.

I hope Emilie’s pregnancy is being written into the show, because there is no way that the writers can expect the audience to believe Belle isn’t pregnant when her coat sticks out about a foot in front of her.

The point of hiding a pregnancy if a character isn’t supposed to be pregnant is to HIDE it eg only shoot the actress from the shoulders up or have her stand behind an object (table/chair/counter) that conveniently obscures her stomach. Sticking a coat on and going “ta da” isn’t going to cut it.

On being asked to describe season 5 in 3 words, Emilie and Robert said:

When two of your actors can’t even describe your season without confusion, something has gone seriously wrong. Such is the quality of OUAT nowadays.
