ParticipantI’m willing to bet they’ve dropped the LGBT storyline, because of what we know of 5B so far and the whole series revolving around the main group, there doesn’t seem to be a natural fit for it unless it’s a “special” episode but A&E said they didn’t want to do that.
Mulan isn’t even in the same land as the main group, she’s not even in Storybrooke, so I can’t see how they can do a story on her without detracting from the main story-arc. Secondary characters from season 1 and 2 like, Granny, the dwarves, Archie, Whale, Aurora, etc are now glorified extras/cameos. They’re lucky to get any screentime at all and if they do, its as props to the main group rather than as characters in their own right.
Of the regulars, Mulan has connections with 4 of them: Belle, Robin, Snow, and Emma. However, Emma is all about Hook, Snow is CS’ head cheerleader, Robin is Regina’s bag holder, and Belle’s sole purpose on the show now seems to be to fallout and make up with Rumple and that is if she is granted screentime at all. Emilie is a real trooper for sticking with the show especially the way her character is treated.
Saying that, I’m convinced Dorothy is going to turn out to be the other LGBT character, Mulan is going to end up in Oz somehow though it will never be explained, they will team up to take on Zelena in a Zelena-focussed episode that everyone won’t think highly of because it’ll be so disjointed from the main events of 5B, A&E will think that the negative reception will be because of the LGBT pairing and that they’ll never show them again and will placate the LGBT fan by saying that Mulan and Dorothy are living happily ever after in Oz or Kansas and the reason they can’t be shown ever again is because the story is focussed on Storybrooke or whatever world the “heroes” visit and WarriorGale aren’t there.

ParticipantThat article is so true!
Once has become CS focussed to the point that everyone else has become secondary characters. It’s no coincidence that the shows drop in quality began once CS became canon and started taking over the show.
I think half the trouble is that, whereas we’ve seen Regina and Rumple earn their redemption (with varying results), Hook’s has just been handed to him on a silver platter. He didn’t earn it, he feels no remorse for his past actions, it’s all an act to get Emma’s pity and to get in her pants. IMO Dark One Hook was the real Hook coming out to play. He confessed that he likes Emma’s wall up so that HE can be the ones to break them down. CS is all about Hook’s self-gratification. Hook is now Once’s creator’s pet.
Snowing are now Hook’s cheerleaders. Emma, who used to be a “strong” independent woman who didn’t take crap from anybody, has not only been reduced to a prize to be one but has now turned into a selfish petulant fawning child who can’t see the bigger picture at all. She is now dependent on Hook to make her feel loved and capable, she completely ignores her family including her son in favour of Hook unless they can help her in some way eg going to the underworld to rescue him.
Every other character has been reduced to supporting cast in the great “love” story of CS including Regina and Rumple. Regina’s purpose is now to give pep talks to Emma whilst Rumple is there to serve as an antagonist to Hook’s “hero”.
Hook has been forced into that ill-fitting role just through fan popularity and as a result ALL characters have suffered. Poor Belle’s purpose is now to be deceived by Rumple at every opportunity “because he’s evil”. However, he shows more care and concern for her than any of the other heroes combined. They only use her for information but don’t give a crap about her well-being or feelings or even treat her as an actual person.
CS is slowly killing the show.

ParticipantI would actually take SwanQueen over CS. SQ has gone from being enemies to actually developing a strong relationship that has substance and build up to it rather than suddenly being this undying love with no build up whatsoever like CS.
OQ has its problems in the build up and surrounding how it got together, but as an actual relationship dynamic it seems to be somewhat working even though Roland has become a somewhat expendable part of Robin’s life.

ParticipantYou know what I realised the other night? The sorcerer’s house in 4A makes completely no sense because Merlin is the sorcerer and he never had a house in Storybrooke because he was a tree in Camelot for hundreds of years. Where did that house come from? Literally it’s only purpose was for RumBelle to have their honeymoon there, even though it was a completely random house. Does Belle make a habit of sneaking into other people’s houses to have sex with Rumple?

ParticipantI thought it was a fairly decent episode, infinitely better with no Clara. I liked how it tied back into the library episodes and I’m presuming this will be the last we see of River song. Only thing is Library River didn’t seem upset that things were coming to an end whereas this episode’s River was so whether that is a continuity error I don’t know.
Overall, I think the Capaldi run hasn’t been as good as the Tennant and Smith run. 10 and 11 had a nice balance between light and dark whereas 12 is dark and darker. Capaldi has hinted that next series could be his last and I will actually be glad to see a new Doctor.

ParticipantMerry Christmas!
Just watched Santa Clause 3 and it’s surprising how many actors from stuff I’ve seen have cameos in it: The guy who plays Barry Kripke in Big Bang theory, Cameron Monaghan (who played Jerome in Gotham), Abigail Breslin (who was in My Sister’s Keeper).
Hope everyone has a great day.

ParticipantWhat’s the odds Henry call the mission Operation Phoenix because of bringing someone back from the dead even though that should totally be the name of the mission for bringing back Baelfire?
Glad to see that Emilie WILL still be on the show.
I think Rumple’s motivation will be Baelfire. We won’t be getting Neal, and Rumple probably won’t be able to bring Bae back (I think Bae will tell Rumple to go back to Belle and be a good father to the RumBelle baby) but it’s possible that we may get some real heartwrenching scenes…. or at least we have the potential but knowing how A&E like to skip over emotional scenes in favour of action who knows.
So Camelot is just getting ignored now, we’ll get a quick explanation of what happened off-screen and that’ll be it. That’s bad storytelling and the writers need to buck up.
Although I doubt it, I think it’s interesting that the writers hint that Hook may not be brought back. What’s the odds the writers try and play up a love triangle between Milah, Hook and Emma?
5B actually has the POTENTIAL to be good (or at the very least better than 5A) but what it potentially could be and what it actually is are two totally different things. We will have to wait and see.

ParticipantFor the sake of it, it could also be Henry, Snow, Charming, or Aurora that has a connection to Hades. If we are correct that the “Red room” is connected to the underworld, perhaps someone actually met the guy and kept hush hush about it. They were all under the sleeping curse and that fiery room can be described as hellish.
I doubt it. The red room has seemingly been forgotten along with character development.
My money is on Hook because the show has become all about Hook and his man pain. Ironically in the arc that should’ve had Hook as the main player due to his connections (the Neverland arc), they decided to ignore him when it would’ve been natural for him to have a big role.

ParticipantYou know how a while ago we were all saying that the Buffy parallels between Emma/Hook/DarkHook were similar to Buffy/Angel/Angelus? Well here’s another one, Sunnydale was built on a “hellmouth”. With the entrance to the underworl in the duck pond in Storybrooke park, Storybrooke too is built on a “hellmouth”.
In season 7, Buffy and co went into hell to defeat “the first” evil, guess where Emma and co are going now to save Hook and inevitably come up against Hades?
With Jane Espenson on the payroll for OUAT, it doesn’t surprise me that there are nods to Buffy, but currently it seems like they are just ripping stuff from Buffy to use in Once because they’ve run out of their own ideas.
I think they’re going to do with 5B what they did with 3A, have most of the action take place in UW hence why there is no Belle because she got left behind (again). We may get 1 episode to tell us what Belle was doing in that time, if we’re lucky, before everyone returns to Storybrooke.
I will be really annoyed if the writers have Emma leave Rumple in the UW in exchange for Hook, especially if Belle is pregnant. Because not only would Emma have destroyed Belle’s life, she’d also be leaving a child fatherless just so EMMA get what SHE wants. That would unfortunately complete Emma’s transition from noble flawed hero to selfish bitch. How can CS possibly be considered healthy if Hook brings out the worst in Emma?
Also happy Birthday MRJ. You escaped Once just in time before it went to hell. (pun not intended)

ParticipantI think we come up with better theories and answers here than the writers do on the show.
