ParticipantTo be honest…SwanQueen technically has more groundwork than both Captain Swan and Outlaw Queen….had it not been for those three reasons listed above, especially number 1, it wouldn’t be hard for all of us to jump aboard the ship considering all this baiting has made it the more logical one of the three.
Agreed. I never thought I’d actually root for SwanQueen, but at the moment it’s one of the 3 relationships that has the most solid foundations (After RumBelle and Snowing of course 😛 )
OQ is starting to grow on me in the sense that so long as you don’t go digging too deeply into the relationship, it seems OK.
CS is just one big black hole of mess that only grows in size with each passing episode.

ParticipantA good episode so much better than Once right now.
Anyone else notice the Joker graffiti near the beginning of the episode? That was a nice touch. I’m hoping it’s foreshadowing the return of Jerome, but if it’s not, then it’s a nice nod to the continuation of a storyline that has slipped into the background.
I enjoyed Alfred keeping Bruce away from Silver and outsmarting Bruce’s plan. At least Alfred has the brains that Bruce seems to lack. I know Bruce is only a kid but still, you’d think the future Batman would be a bit smarter.
Are the assassins going to keep going after Gordon or is that it now? Because he’s still alive and they supposedly don’t give up until the job is done.
The actress who played Missy in Doctor Who was in this as the head of the assassins!
The Penguin/Nygma team up is going to be awesome.
I think my only complaint about the episode is that we’re supposed to buy that Tabitha feels stongly enough about Barbara that she is willing to go against her brother’s orders for revenge, yet we’ve not seen the build up of an emotional connection between the two.

ParticipantI guess all of that, “Searching for my own kind,” talk from Red was meant to be some veiled hint at “her kind” actually beig the LGBTQ community in the EF? And if/when we see them again they’ll suddenly be in a relationship without us having had the chance to see it develop?
If “my kind” is supposed to refer to LGBT then that is kind of offensive as it separates LGBT as being different from the “normal” heterosexual population. It wouldn’t be acceptable if Ruby was black and was going to find “her kind” so why should it be acceptable if Ruby was LGBT?
Not having Mulan mention Aurora as the one who broke her heart was a glaring omission.
Hmmm I wonder if perhaps in-universe the reason she doesn’t specify that it’s Aurora is that perhaps people of the EF are not so accepting of such and she is perhaps just being careful because she doesn’t know that they’ll think.
The general population of the EF not being accepting of LGBT relationships is plausible though there would be some people who believe love is love regardless of gender etc, but for that reason to fly they need to SHOW that people have that general attitude.

ParticipantIt’s essentially suggesting that the only thing that’s keeping him from reverting back to the “dark side” is that he managed to “snag” Emma, and it’s boosting his sense of self-worth. I just can’t with this character.
I see it as emotional blackmail. So long as Emma stays with him he’ll be good. But if she leaves, he’ll go back to being “dark” and it’ll be all her fault because she left him. It’s unhealthy and seriously raises questions on what the writers think constitutes love. Even OQ is more morally sound than CS and that’s saying something.
Hook’s character has actually gotten worse this season to the point where Zelena comes across as more likeable. Freaking Zelena, whose cause more pain and anguish to the main characters than some of the other big bads combined, is more likeable than Hook.
Whereas Rumple and Regina actually had to go through a journey of redemption so that any slip ups back to the dark side are tragic, Hook’s seems more like revealing his true colours than any great tragedy. We’ve seen both Emma and Rumple as DARK ONES especially in the EF still have the capacity to love and care for their loved ones even if their methods of protecting said loved ones are extreme. The emotions are still there. Within minutes of discovering he’s a dark one, Hook is planning revenge against Emma, his supposed “true love”. What the Hell?
Are the writers actually being clever and doing CS because ABC told them to but showing it for how unhealthy it is, or do they actually believe that CS is this all singing all dancing undying love? Because what they’re telling us and what they’re showing us are two totally different things.

ParticipantEvil Charming? I guess Prince James is back.
I think they mean Evil Queen+Charming filming a seen together.
That would make more sense though they are bringing back the blind witch so who’s to say James won’t put in an appearance.

ParticipantI honestly can’t see Once going beyond 5B storywise. We’re getting the dark one mythology done in 5A which is one of the “big” storylines that was left to be done. In 5B we’re getting Hades so they are literally going up against a god, you’ve got past big bads and villains returning. It all has a “final battle” vibe to it
I don’t know where Once could go that would up the stakes fro what we’re getting in season 5.

ParticipantLiked:
The RumBelle scene- RumBelle are literally the only reason I’m really watching Once now.
DO Clippy’s impression of Merlin- How anyone manages to keep a straight face when RC puts on the different accents is a miracle.
Zelena- When Zelena becomes one of the positives about an episode, you know the series has passed the point of no return. “Shut up. I was a fake midwife, I know the drill!” Zelena is actually one of my favourite characters of season 5.
Whale- His whole scene was hilarious. Storybrooke has lost it’s small town feel.
Regina supporting Emma- Regina has been so much supportive of Emma during this difficult period in her life especially more than Hook. In fact so much so, I’d say Emma’s real love story on Once is SwanQueen. It’s at least healthier than CS.
Emma acknowledging that Zelena killed Neal and Marian- Finally! It was about time!
Mixed:
Operation Light Swan- The idea of wanting the darkness out of Emma is ok, it’s the execution of said idea. What the writers want us to think and what we’re actually seeing on screen are two totally different things. The writers want us to think that Hook is desperate to save the love of his life from a terrible fate. What we’re seeing is that Hook is rejecting Emma because she’s not the woman he wants her to be. His actions are very controlling. He’s demanding, he doesn’t care what other people think or their opinions, he is just an unpleasant individual and the more this season goes on, the worse he gets.
Emma saving Hook after he jumps off the building- Whilst it may have been the right thing to do, it was such a stupid idea of Hook’s in the first place. Emma should’ve let him go splat!
Regina refusing to let Zelena protect herself and her child- Whilst it was nice to get WickedSisters feels from Regina promising to protect Zelena, at the same time it was a stupid idea to leave Zelena defenceless against Emma.
Disliked:
Hook- Just Hook. It would take too long to list why Hook is a complete and utter arsehole (he seems worse than usual this season) but keeping mementoes of your past kills is just disturbing and a big red flashing neon warning sign. The fact that Hook kept them s “trophies” is just wrong. The whole “that all changed when I met you” crap is very eyebrow raising. People don’t just change who they are, to parade the notion the love changes everything is unhealthy. There’s a difference between being the best you can be and being someone completely different from who you are. Hook proclaims he’s “changed” and become good because of being with Emma. So is he going to turn around and blackmail her saying that unless she stays with him, he’s going to go back to his old ways and it’s all her fault because she left him? CS is such a troubling relationship. If they were a real couple, you would be looking at an emotionally abusive relationship yet the show is trying to present it as “true love”. It is wrong on so many levels.
Snowing giving up on Emma- All they’re talk of hope and never giving up in the earlier seasons has disappeared now. The characters are shadows of their former selves.
Hook turning against Emma- We’ve seen that both Emma and Rumple as dark ones still loved those they cared about so why is Hook any different?
