A Letter to the Writers of Once Upon a Time
Dear Sirs,
From the first moment I saw the previews for this show, I was excited. I grew up with the Grimm fairy tales, and with Disney and I was thrilled that someone was going to do a new take on the stories and put the time and effort into making it a show about happy endings. In this day and age with all these crime shows, and shows about people being idiots and screwing things up, I was looking forward to a show about hope, and about love, and most of all, a show where I was guaranteed to love the ending, because fairy tales are predictable. I knew the beginning was going to be rough, the journey was going to be long and dangerous, but the ending I knew, and it was going to be satisfying.
The first season was spectacular. It was beautifully written, it had all my favorite characters and more than that, I loved the actors and got my first hope at a happy ending. At the same time, there was still a lot to do with the show by leaving the characters in Storybrooke and by bringing back magic, so I was excited for season two.
The second season seemed to be going almost as good. I thought you could have done more with the consequences of the curse, instead of just blowing it off, and sure there were a few slow episodes but over all, I liked it, until the end. When you started to set up Hook as an anti hero, and a love interest for Emma, that was when I thought, what the fuck is this? You have a great love story for Emma that you have been setting up, in swan fire, in these two characters who obviously love each other, come from the enchanted forest and yet clearly belong in our world. This was shown as a family show, about hope and family, what better fairytale could there be then reuniting this family? But no, you tried to kill him off, and set up the neverland arc with a “reformed” Hook.
Hook was an evil villain, who killed children, tortured them, and mutilated them, and you set him up as a “Father figure” I was appalled. But since I knew the story of Peter Pan, I figured he was going to die in Neverland, especially because he was double crossing people and being more of a hindrance than a help. But no, instead you let him live, as a “Hero” and set up a love triangle in the process. Love triangles are never good, and are something that we all fight over, and there is no place for them in a fairy tale. True love always conquers and Emma had her true love, in Neal, and while it was going to take a while for them to work out the past and their lives, they would eventually get married and live happily ever after.
So I was hopeful for season 3B, where Hook would die, the triangle would be over, and Neal and Emma would begin to repair their relationship which had been building and we would get a true love’s kiss from them.
And then you bastards killed him.
For Hook.
A man who on numerous occasions has tried to kill Emma, her family, her son, and her friends. endangered, Emma, her family, her son, her friends, and Betrayed, Emma, her family, her son, and her friends. And you call him better than Neal.
You sons of Whores.
You killed Neal, one of only three of your original characters, that you created, not stolen (borrowed, sorry borrowed) from some other writer. You kill him off, the one person who your whole mythology, story, and premise is based off. You kill him?
Well, I guess you thought you had written yourselves into a corner, because it was obvious that Neal and Emma were going to end up together and everyone knew that, because they were true loves. And you can’t have someone guess the ending of a show, especially not one about fairy tales……
Hate to burst your bubble, but you’ve written yourselves into an even worse corner. Because now, Emma can NEVER have a true love. Her true love is dead, and you killed him. Hook or any other character will just be who she settles for, her second choice, her only choice, her “I guess, since he’s dead”
You have condemned your main character, the one who never thought she was a fairy tale character, and in fact was the princess born of true love, you condemn her to live without a true love mate. You leave her, ever more with a son who will remind her and whoever she is with, of her true love, every day, every night, every hour, every minute of the man who gave up EVERYTHING to ensure that she stay alive, keep her magic, and most of all be with her family, and loved.
You did this. You changed a show about happy endings into a tragedy, A show about fairy tales and family and hope, into a show about how your main character loses love, and watches her family be happy, while she herself will be destined to remain alone with only her son and a grave stone.
Just so you know, having a predicable show, where we can guess the ending, especially one about hope and fairy tales, isnt’ a bad thing, it’s what your show was meant to be. And you destroyed it.
So I won’t be watching, I have enough tragedy in my own life, I don’t need to watch this shit on TV as well. I hope that your show fails, not because of the actors or the studio, but because when people needed hope most, you sold them a lie, and that’s worse than hope. You pulled the rug out from under them, and then laughed while they sobbed in pain. You don’t deserve to have fans, or awards, or be congratulated for such actions.
You deserve to be keelhauled on Hook’s ship, in Neverland where you belong, forever tortured by the character you would kill Neal, destroy Emma, and abandon Henry for.

You know what, I am sad we won’t get more family moments like these. I doubt Emma would have much interaction with Gold anymore, neither would Henry. And there would be no more linkages between Henry, Neal, Gold, and Emma either. Ranisha is sad again, goes humbly into sad tent to weep about the lost of swanfire family even if non-romantic.
Rumple hasn’t even had a scene with Henry since Neverland!
Didnt they share a scene on 321 or 322 in grannys? However appeared that was almost like they didnt even knew each other, or had any relation, i mean on S1 and half S2, they were closer, now not so much.
Also i think this happens, bc they dont want Henry to have a relation with Rumple, bc they want the GA to forget their relation, that is why that Henry didnt looked ver sad about Neal and after recover his memories only one flower, not even tears or sadness, after that was back to operation cobra like nothing happened, that is also why on Neal gravestoan, only says beloved son, bc they also want GA to forget Neal is Henry father, now to them Neal is Henry uncle, Bae will never be mention, and if it is mention will be by Bae by rumple to belle. The reason why they want GA to forget Neal as hnery father is the way they wanted Milah to be forgot as Neal mother, bc they dont want the GA to view Hook and emma relation as creepy and gross, by the fact that Hook at some point wanted to raise Neal as a son, making emma his almost ex-stepdaughter in law.
