ParticipantLOL was about to post that. I also agree. I love literary aspect of Neal Cassidy and his story. Like I said for a fairytale character he was tangible and realistic, he brought a real world vibe to fantasy. And I just adored his character.

One of the best things about Neal was his zero tolerance for bs policy.
This man does not f– around. If you hurt him, he will hold you responsible. If he hurts you, he will apologize and do his best to do right by you. No dark, moody brooding for this guy, no sir.
MRJ brought such a wonderful, gritty realism to Neal. He’s very grounded in the world of idealistic fairy tale characters. It’s a bit jarring when you first meet him but over time becomes wonderfully refreshing.
Neal is one of the only characters on this show to stand up to those you hurt him. He doesn’t give a damn about how sorry you are, your sad puppy eyes, or your manpain. You are still responsible for your actions and he has every right to be angry at you and I love it.
Neal doesn’t waste time feeling sorry for himself about all the unfairness in life. People slam him about moving on to Tamara but to me that’s the healthiest outlook on life one can have. He didn’t think Emma would forgive him for leaving her. Instead of wallowing in pain, torturing himself for the rest of his days, Neal does what he always does- picks himself up off the ground and keeps moving forward, no matter how much it hurts.
Even after watching his father die in front of him and losing Emma and his son in the same hour, Neal doesn’t whine or lash out. He just absorbs the blow and focuses on how to get back to his family.
Zero policy for bs indeed.

ParticipantI find it flat out disrespectful to MRJ as person, who showed up to work just like the rest of the cast. Its nice that he get honored and remember for the work he did and how he contributed to the show. MRJ the flipping honorary, “Bowl Of Soup.” Doesn’t even get any type of recognition for his time on this show beyond his fans and a few fellow friends. Its not just about Nealfire the flipping reason for the curse, the son of rumble, father of Henry, first love of Emma, and friends to many others, Its about MRJ a human being who put time and effort to be in this show for 2 years get not one dime of recognition.
Are you telling me that Nealfire is so evil that he would stunt the sells of the Calendar. That people are going to go oh wait I was going to buy it but Neal is there so no, I change my mind. PLEASE.
I tell you what, I rather spend my money on buying a Grimm Calender at least their entire cast is respected and treated with dignity by all! >_< And that is what pissed me off the most, the all and out lack of respect and recognition to MRJ and his work. Why did they even bother making him a regular. They should just left him dead at the portal if they going to pretend he never existed and was never part of the cast and the team.

Participant@Rumplesgirl, YES HE IS. He is the best. I would have loved to meet him. Of course I would be a total dork though. 🙂

ParticipantMy headcanon is that Emma and Neal used to watch this movie a lot and Neal would sing “LET’S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS!” until Emma started throwing fries at him to get him to shut up. http://phoenixwrites.tumblr.com/post/88538448415/my-headcanon-is-that-emma-and-neal-used-to-watch
I was thinking about my Mulan and Neal post. Not only do I agree with him Mulan was a good movie but think about the message and how Neal would see it.
Mulan when would my reflection show who I am inside, powerful message for a lost lonely boy.
Mulan left her home to take her father’s place in the war. Neal tried to help his father by taking him to a land where they can be a family again. Neal also sacrifice himself for the Darlings to remain as a family.
Mulan in the end reunited with her father, “The Greatest Honor is Having you For a Daughter.”
The father daughter warm embraced.
Yeah I can see why Neal thought that was a good movie.
