The only thing I would ever gloated about was if Neal lived, skip the shipping part, I would be happy with Neal alive. Hook could be alive all he wants. But I would be happy if Neal didn’t die. And yes I would gloat about Neal living because celebrating life is something to gloat about especially to those who were darn right mean about it.

Yeah RG another thing is they didn’t realize how much looks factor would factor into it. Because lets be real actors reverse Hook would be dead and Neal would be alive for bold story reasons. Its the halo effect.
I could see the story implications of Emma and Neal and I enjoyed their story. But to be perfectly honest, even though I love Neal and Emma and ship them forever. I saw Emma season 1 happy ending with her being single with her Son and her family. And I love that concept and idea that a happy ending could be non romantic. What blew me away about season 1 finale, the kiss of true love was between a mother and her son. We had the romantic happy ever after with the Classics Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella. It would have been a novel idea for the heroine amongst a town of fairytales haves her happy ever after as a single mother.
When Neal was first introduce I thought Emma and Neal’s relationship would end open ended, always loving each other deeply but keeping the audience guessing will they, want they till kingdom come. Sort of like a Trio and Riker kind of thing. Each others Imzadi. I never saw much with Hook and Jefferson nor more than lust, I saw sibling endearment with August. But with Neal and Graham, I saw love and didn’t ship Gremma and I came into Swanfire late in the game, but even when I didn’t ship it I saw the love that they each ship possess. Emma and Graham had the makings of love, Neal and Emma HAD LOVE, they love each other deeply and profoundly.
It seems their deep profound love for each other is the reason why Neal had to die to make way for CS, the guy who survived till the end because all others died…
And if you created a original character to be the true love of another original character and you had to change things to fit a media favorite, then what do you with that character which is glaring red flag that your story got change.
I keep musing why did Neal have to died he could have lived and moved on (or maybe he can’t because he was true love of Emma).
bold story move, no killing a supposedly non popular character is not that bold. (But allowing two true loves to live life separate now that’s bold/ or allowing Rumple to remain dead- Now that is as bold as they come…)I do wonder, why couldn’t he be a father to Henry, a son to Rumple, a friend to Emma and Belle and others. Are biological father’s that bad that people would be annoyed by Henry and Neal bonding, Rumple and Neal bonding.(Or would that be to much fear with the shippers Neal still alive he’s bonding with Henry, Oh no Emma, Henry, and Neal are spending time together. On No Now Emma, Henry, Neal, and Regina are spending time together, Oh No now, Neal, Emma, Henry, Regina, Snow, Charming, baby Snowflake, Rumple, Belle, are ALL talking and bonding with each other. CRAP. There might be a chance they might get back together because they are way to much of happy family right now and Hook just looks weird in that mix. I think there was a collective sigh of relief, the threat was gone. He’s dead he can threaten our ship anymore.)
I always say there is a point when the story takes over and breathes life. But it seem this story has not been allowed to run free like a wild stallion but has been broken and tamed a remnant of its former glory. Because honestly the story did not demand for Elsa to be brought on no more then it demanded that Neal die.
Anyway this is just my musings on Friday. This is simply my opinion which is not worth a grain of salt. But apparently this Friday, my mind has not been so Quiet.

That poll meant nothing when you have opposing shippers flooding it on purpose. But yeah in the beggining A&E got a lot of hate from shippers about Emma and Neal.
I recalled Josh tweeted that Charming like Neal to another fan, some shippers started yelling at him about how can he like Neal and other bs. And he deleted the tweet. It really upset both Josh and the fan who he tweeted because she was so happy about it. And some shippers and their smart alleck rude comments ruin the fun out of it. That still annoys me to this day.

I’m with you RumpleGirl. I think they sold something different to MRJ because they purposely seeked him out which means they felt MRJ had the acting skills to take on the meaty and complex role that they had in mind of for grown-up Bae. They wanted someone who could stood toe to toe with Robert C in the acting department, I have to say overall my favorite acting scene was Manhattan when we had Robert, JMO, MRJ, and Jared stuck in the room together, those for killed it. Also MRJ and JMO in the Alley and in the Bar, so much emotion, they did wonderful together. I can see why JMO loved working MRJ because crap got real in their scenes. Also Robert C at the airport and in the airplane,just perfection. Good gravy do I love Manhattan and the little bits of RC and Jmo and Jared in the car and on the plane in Tiny.
I missed that interaction of JMO and RC, it has been so limited in season 3 but I guess they didn’t want RC to overshadow Colin. When you think about JMO and Jared interactions has been kind of pushed aside for more Emma and Hook. Which is kind of side that two great interactions has been pushed aside and place on the back burner for shipping reasons…

I think it is natural in a story like this to continue to imagine what ifs, along with talking about the wonderful bits of story we did get.
I plan on discussing how each episode of S4 “would have gone” had Neal been around. If not here on this thread then in my head at least

I had cautionary hope, then A&E ate with some Fava beans like Hannibal. I don’t think RG has ever told anyone how to feel only spoke from her own experiences, feelings, and thoughts. I never got the inclination that RG was telling me how to feel or what to believe at all. She just expressed her opinion like the rest of us.
Although I do see MRJ pulling a cameo out of his hat down the line.

Yeah my life personal life is okay, I have up days and down days but it has nothing to do with Swanfire/Nealfire/OUAT. Now my fandom life is pretty much on carousel I have my high days when I am having fun with my shows Grimm, Law and Order, Dusk to Dawn and I have my lows when something reminds me of Neal, Swanfire, and OUAT, Neal and Swanfire makes me happy and fluffy but then I remember what could have been, would have been, and should have been then I get sad/angry.

Who is Henry? There is no Henry. There is only Hook.
This makes me sad, cries in sad tent, because Henry will be all but written out come season 4. As the realization of every child’s fear, he Has been Replace by Snowflake, Roland, and Hook. But they won’t killed Henry they would just give him the Archie, Ruby, Blue, Dr. Whale, Grumpy Treatment.

but just thought of something else. People kept saying ‘who’s Belle to claim the necklace is born out of true love’, well I’m thinking, A&E are Belle. I think they were trying to confirm SF as true love without angering Lord Mouse, cause hey look!, we’re still doing CS like you told us to. But at the same time sneaking in some of their own stuff. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.
Belle saying something as powerful as that is no accident. It was send off to SFer fans by the writers. Apparently it was suppose to make us feel better about the lost of Neal.
And besides if Belle said that same line to another duo it would be blown up as Belle spoke it so it can’t be wrong. Gifed and blogged to kingdom come.

Season 1 Graham was the sacrifice, Season 2 Cora (but that blood was impure and the great Lord Mouse demanded a greater sacrifice) Season 3 Baelfire (purest blood of all) Season 4 Marian she has been dressed and dolled up for the Altar as we speak. The Great Lord Mouse demands it, his followers are at the temple yelling Sacrifice, Sacrifice, Sacrifice…. its okay Roland and Robin will understand sacrifices has to be made…
