Up until now, Neal was operating under the belief that he’d done his level best to do right by Emma. August told him he needed to leave for her to break the curse enslaving hundreds.
"You love her, good! That means you have to do right by her!” August Booth
“That’s all I’m trying to do.” Neal
    “Then leave her.” August

But what else was he supposed to do? Ignore August? Let an entire town stay cursed for eternity?
But now? Now he’s realizing Emma was pregnant when he left her. Now he’s wondering if August was looking out for Emma why he never told him he was a father. Now it’s hitting him that he left two people behind that night.
And it’s only going to get worst. He’s going to find out Emma gave up her son for adoption because she didn’t feel like she could be a mother. He’s going to find out Emma never got the 20,000 dollars, that she had no help or support at all when she got out. He’s going to discover that his son was raised by a practitioner of dark magic like his own father. He’s going to figure out Henry grew up isolated just like he was as a child.

I think Neal realized that Emma would be hurt and angry which is why he was scared that she would reject him and not want to see him (When in fact it was the opposite she did want to see him again because she wanted answers despite the anger she loved that lost boy) He also knew how he hurt Emma when they were in the bar however it really hit him how HURT her when he realized the gravity of all what happen because he trusted that puppet and hope that things will turn out the best for Emma and her family. In the end she saved her family from the curse through true love of their son. But she was hurt, and she and he lost ten years of their sons life.

I have difficulty seeing why the need to highlight Bae when he is dead, they should have done all that while he was living. Neverland should have been showed when they were in Neverland. the Ferris wheel scene should been in 3A or season 2. Why fleshed out a dead character….

I think RG is referring to the fact that Neal is the one who sent the message, no one knows that. They just know he died so Rumple can tell them about Zelena.

Which makes me go back to Rainbow post, why was Neal aware of Zelena pre curse but not aware of Zelena post curse. I understand erased memories. But if Neal can hear Zelena inside of Rumple (he was able to removed himself from Rumple) in Enchanted Forest, shouldn’t he hear Zelena in StoryBrooke….. did I just fall into another plot hole, can someone save me with logic and rationale…..

2nd question: How was Neal able to separate himself from Rumple physically without the help of magic or Emma.

@Jenna_B had wonderful thought thing to respond to you and lost it in Zumba class. LOL So I’ll try my best.

Anyway if he we just suppose to motivation for characters, like Emma, Rumple, Henry, and in someway Hook,  I think the death of Nealfire would had suffice at the season finale 2. Judging by the reactions of the characters, it made sense, he motivated the characters and pull their story forward. Rumple still be edgy yet still saved his grandson by choosing Him over power, Emma could put the past behind her and not face her feelings (or face them), Hook could honor Bae’s memory by saving Henry (and this time not just allowed Pan to keep the child), and Henry gets to learn about his father and his paternal history.

Its one of the reason why I think Neal’s second death was really that plan or something they always wanted to do. If you wrote a character with the intentions to die, you let them stay dead. You don’t bring them back, set them up on a second chance redemption arch then killed them off in a “haha we was just fooling with you of course you don’t get a second chance, silly Neal, now be good lad and die.”

I also think you would utilized them a lot more for the most part of 3B Neal was barely used and then by the 4th episode he was dead?

Neal death didn’t seem to have plan out death, Graham, Peter Pan, Cora very plan out death, Neal death was more rash, and reminded when Tasha Yar and Jadzida Dax died in star trek all because of BTS stuff.

Now this would have been perfect flashback episode for Nealfire, we should be seeing a flashback of Neal as the lost boy, giving up hope of being saved by someone, rather it be his father or hook, which lead to him being inspired to escape! With a classic if someone is going to save me its going to be me.

“So what’s your favorite scene from this episode?”

“For me, it was watching Emma lose Neal. As heartbreaking as it is, it was so emotional, and so gut-wrenching, and they both played it so great, but to be at that moment that you can admit those feelings are still there, but then to lose the person you love, I mean there’s nothing that’s more heartbreaking than that.” – Adam Horowitz (Second Star To The Right podcast)

    boy did things change????

Anyway this when I started to root for Emma and Neal and started to like the idea of Swanfire, the fact that they love each other despite the years. It solidified in season 3 when Henry, Emma, and Neal were all separated and trying to reunite. How cool is that mother, father, and son all taking a leap of faith to have hope, the lost boy, the lost girl, and lost son.  You also had the linkage of the family right there with Rumple, Snow, Charming, the grandparents, and Regina the adopted mother, all family to Henry.  It was a neat story concept and then it turn into ash
