About the crushed heart: perhaps EQ can’t be totally destroyed as long as Regina is alive (like Voldemort and Harry Potter type of deal) so Evil Queen is sort of living through Regina’s heart. This would lead to the solution that Regina and EQ must become one again to stop EQ from terrorizing Storybrooke.

I am not sure how many Dungeons and Dragons/Pathfinder players are on here but I was working on the assumption that Emma’s heart protections functioned somewhat like the spell resistance mechanic in that game . Spell resistance in the game works like this, you always have a level of protection against magic being used against you but you can choose to lower your protection to temporarily allow for helpful magic to be used on you. The disadvantage is that that the protection is very much either on or off so removing the barrier even for a moment leaves you vulnerable to dangerous magics. I was thinking that the plot could have gone with Emma’s lower’s her protections only for Hades or someone to swoop in and attack while the opening existed.
This, I thought Emma’s heart couldn’t be taken against her will but she could lower the protection so to say and let someone take her heart if she wanted. If that were true, maybe she doesn’t wholeheartedly (such pun) want to split her heart and we are on the verge of drama how Hook in the end isn’t her true love and all that OR we get yet another storyline of Emma being closed off and how she needs to let people near her before she can hand over half of her heart.

I hope that they don’t do the heart splitting thing again. Charming’s heart was crushed, so he needed a new one so Snow gave half of hers. Hook’s heart is still in his chest but he died for other cause (what was it btw, the cut by Excalibur or giving up DO-hood or just a sword driven through his guts? I need to rewatch this). What I’m trying to say is I hope bringing him back to life takes more than just half of a heart, that would be a serious let-down even at this point of the series.

I just want to see Cruella and hear her sass again! Also if Hades isn’t the sassmaster he is in Hercules I’m gonna be disappointed.
What would make a great redemption arc is Rumple trading places with Neal and staying in the Underworld with the DO darkness. Hades could help with tying the darkness down there, I bet he has a trick or two up his sleeves.
Didn’t Merida have some leftover Dead Man Tell Tale Ale? Do you think Belle or someone else will use it to communicate with the Brigade Below or are they gonna just forget all about it?

A wild theory, but maybe since all the former Dark Ones live inside the current DO’s head, they can’t fully die before the darkness is destroyed? Similar to Voldemort and the horcruxes, as long as there is a piece of him somewhere, he can’t die.

This might be very off, but if it’s really Merlin who’s stuck in the tree, maybe he can travel the realms like Bran in Game of Thrones, with only his mind? It is established that he is very powerful, so that shouldn’t be very difficult for him. As for the movie theater scene, maybe he was using someone by controlling their mind (kind of a bad guy move) or he just made a projection of himself that spoke to Emma.
