Well, AngieBelle… you’ve just made Swiss cheese of my theories on Cora and Eva’s past. Though I suppose there are ways that could still have them related. Certainly there is at least still the justification for the jealousy.
The Cora/Regina storyline, though is still in line with where I think it would go. Thanks for sharing!!!
[adrotate group="5"]raulybarraParticipantI’ve had some concerns for a couple of episodes now. For me, making Bae a couple of hundred years old is now the biggest plot hole of all. How in the world would Rumpel have any expectation to find his son alive after all this time? As the holes accumulate, it’s going to get harder to get the suspension of belief that these kind of fairy tales require.
I think the problem was less one of laziness and more one of having too many threads on the loom. We’re not getting the tightly woven tapestry that the story could be. I’m certainly hoping they either have a plan or that they realized it themselves and make the corrections.
It’s not so much a matter of Once being better than anything else. It’s a question of whether or not it engages me and my family. It is something we share together, debate and talk about. It’s something we engage in in the online communities. It’s not a matter of how good it is in comparison to others, it’s an issue of it being the best it can be for its own sake. To put it another way, if I wasn’t watching Once, it’s not that I would be watching something else. Instead, I’d be reading or playing games with my son or writing for TheChristianGeek or doing something at that early evening time that watching TV.
From what I’ve seen, Oncers tend to be a fairly bright crowd. Many having been spoiled by highly intelligent shows like LOST or Fringe. If they let it descend to the level of soap opera, they run a very real risk of losing much of their core audience. For a serial, that’s a death sentence.
raulybarraParticipantI’m certainly on board with either the sisters or closest friends theory. Generally, you have to be incredibly close at one time in order to get such dark hatred for another. However, I think we may also be seeing a part of Cora’s nature in her selfishness, elitism and sense of entitlement. I.e., she may not have been on the side of evil initially, but all the ingredients were there.
Think, too… If Cora was the older sister and Eva was chosen to be queen over her because of Eva goodness and love, would that not be just the spark to light the fire of evil that has been waiting within her?

Evil doesn’t age well unless you are the dark one apparently
So THAT’S the real reason Cora is after Rumpel’s dagger?!?

I think my problem was more with the line than with Henry. The line was just terrible and while I think Henry is well within his right to be hurt and upset with Emma,
While I don’t disagree with the awkwardness of the line, the thing is after working with enough boys in Scouts and seeing my wife’s work as a teacher, neither of us even batted an eye at the line. It may have been a bad line, but it was the sort of thing we’ve seen from kids when they’ve been hurt or are honked off even when they’re all smiles and doing something fun.
That said, my own son has not gotten away with those kind of cracks when he’s tried them with us. I’ll cut Neal a bit of slack, though. After all, while he may have been a father for 11 years, he’s only been a dad for an hour.

In the promo for next week, it looks like Snow is gonna find Cora's traveling heart vault in the mausoleum. The boxes she finds have the glowing red cross on them & in one of the shots, there's a wall of little alcove type shelves in the background, which I'm pretty sure is in Regina's underground lair. Methinks Cora's heart is in one of the boxes in that vault. It may even be the only active heart left in there, if the rest got used for zombies.
That makes sense. However what if it isn't Cora's heart, but a decoy? Who is the innocent that Mary Margaret going to end up killing thinking she has destroyed Cora?
And are we going to have Blue telling Snow that “If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.” Or do we need a Green Fairy for that???
raulybarraParticipantOk, folks… since my initial reactions ran about 1,700 words I figure I’d better not post it here. It’s up at TheChristianGeek.net at The Queen Is Dead as they always are for you pleasure. 🙂 Thing it, this episode was such a dense “whammy” ep, that it took me two watchings just to get initial thoughts together.
I think before next Sunday’s The Miller’s Daughter I need to rewatch Manhattan and this episode. I have a feeling the will make a mini-arc.

Not to mention, is apparently in some manner a fairly powerful, if untrained, sorceress herself.
Just another day in Storybrooke with the family… 😆
