I can’t believe it’s Wednesday and we’re halfway to the next episode. Ok… my thoughts after a rewatch. Yes, I do think Rumpel has taken his first steps towards his redemption. First by continuing on without his power and also by the faith he shows in Emma. Looks like she’s still the Savior in some ways.
I think it was always obvious that Regina was going to take a step back after the two steps forward. But that’s part of sanctification and she certainly seems to be following the classic Christian redemption model. She is due for the biggest betrayal of her life, I suspect, when she learns Cora’s true motives. Let’s face it, there’s clearly more than just getting Henry for her daughter in that viscous head of hers.
I’ve got a full write up over at http://thechristiangeek.wordpress.com/category/sci-fi-and-fantasy/once/ . Don’t click for the full article if you haven’t seen the episode though. Everything after the “more” is a spoiler if you’re behind on the series. 🙂

Most everyone I know who watches the show hate the idea of Baelfire being Neal because they don’t expect it. They have no idea how there’d be a connection. They seriously think it is absurd.
OMG! The folk you’ve been talking to really don’t expect it? Spoilers aside, they’ve been hinting at this; plainly in my humble opinion. August showing something recognizable enough for Neil to back out of Emma’s life. Emma calling Gold, “Dad.” Taking Henry along on this trip. In fact for me that last is the clincher. What to expect next week?
“Henry, meet you father. Rumpel? Say ‘Hi” to your grandson. Umm, and Henry? That bit about your firefighter dad being dead? There’s a few things you should know…”
Snow/David, Regina, Rumpel, Emma and Henry. All related now. Going to make for interesting holiday dinners.

I do hope we are going somewhere with this, PLEASE WRITERS!
I’m not that worried in this case. This was a definite set-up episode. They have a lot of balls in the air at once in this elaborate juggling act. I was a bit worried at the beginning of the season, but they have done an impressive job and are moving the story forward much faster than I would have expected. None of the annoying filler of last season.
With the pace they’re keeping, I’d expect to start seeing the payoffs as early as next week.
raulybarraParticipantIt was completely the expected answer. I’ve argued in the past that with the whole shepherd becoming a king bit it could only be David. Ooh… and now he’s beaten a giant, though in this case by friendship.
The way they went through this confirmation, though, was awesome. It’s going to go down as one of the classic comic moments of the show.

Hi RaulYbarra! What is sound engineering, if you don’t mind me asking?
Sure. Some purists may quibble, but it’s an alternative name for a soundman. More specifically, if you have the nerve to call yourself a sound engineer you have a good deal more knowledge than the dude who just pushed the button to turn on a channel. You understand things like gain structure, reverb times, speaker modes, phase interactions, and so forth. They’re more likely to understand the physics and (sometimes complex) math of sound recording/reinforcement.
While a lot of schools and churches may pop any interested high school geek or guitar player in front of the mixer, a proper sound engineer is who you want when you are dropping your money in a recording studio for that hot demo CD you want to cut. 🙂
Hmmm… I think you may have just given me a topic for one of my blog posts. Right after I finish the one on gain structure that I’m writing now…

Welcome to the forums! Great blog! 😀
Thanks! It’s been something I’ve been wanting to get running for over a year, but there’s been this little thing called “life” that kept getting in the way.
What’s going to be hard for me, is the forums here are such a temptation to start commenting in as soon as the episode airs. Except that I want to get my OUAT review written – unbiased – before engaging in the forums. It’s habit I picked up when I was doing my Thoughts From the Fringe segment for Fringecasting. It’s going to be a lot harder here — this group just looks like too much fun! 😀
