ready_to_rumbelleParticipant
I suppose we can carry on the convo on this thread unless ready_to_Rumbelle throw us out
No, get out of here 😛 (just kidding). I hoped to start a discussion about characters and the way they are written while creating this thread, so of course it makes sense to also discuss certain influences on the writing. I got the impression that A&E are trying their best not to be too much influenced by fans or the network. Nevertheless, they realized how immensely popular (Rum)Belle and Hook immediately became and decided to include them more than they might have originally intended to, which surely makes sense. But while reacting to fans, they still try to involve these characters in the stories they have planned to tell and not deviate too much just in order to include them (to please the fans). However, it is a bit amusing that OUAT is a PG-rated TV show but on the other hand A&E have a tendency to write their villains better than the heroes. They managed to have Regina and Rumple do horrible things and people can’t help themselves but still love them.
I agree, Grimmsistr, that the Charmings are sometimes written inconsistently. It seems like Snow and MM are two completely different persons, which can be confusing and irritating especially since she is the only one whose SB counterpart post-curse is different to the pre-curse FTL character. While Emma and Snow were in the EF during the first part of S2, she reminded me again of the old one, I grew to like during S1, but now in S3, she’s just self-absorbed, naive and insensitive towards Emma and Charming.
[adrotate group="5"]ready_to_rumbelleParticipantBECAUSE THE VILLAINS ARE THE BEST!
True 🙂
The brainstorming for S3 B was probably like this: Okay, how can we make the WW super creepy? Hey, let’s make her Snow’s midwife! Awesome and since the Charmings are nice to everyone they won’t be suspicious.
RG, I agree that the villains must have a great plan and be super cunning. But, unfortunately, this season it is a bit at the heroes’ cost.
ready_to_rumbelleParticipantI think we need to take a moment and appreciate that fact that she’s in a pink sweater again. #ItLives
Yes. It is the icing on the cake.
ready_to_rumbelleParticipantLOL, OUAT’s costume department never fails to amaze me with the wide range of ugly clothing they have in store for Mary Margaret. As if last Sunday’s yellow dress wasn’t enough, now they discovered a new tent to put her in 😛 I know Snow didn’t have much time to prepare for her pregnancy with the curse and all but first thing I would have done is take Charming shopping for nice maternity clothes instead of spending time with the creepy new midwife… again.
ready_to_rumbelleParticipantAll the more reason I think a RumBelle wedding isn’t out of the realm of possibility!
My current headcanon is that they’ll get married in the season finale in the EF and that Zelena similar to Regina with Snowing’s wedding in the Pilot will crash it and announce that she has enacted the curse. And then, poof, everyone is transported to Storybrooke. It would only be logical to have someone interrupt a nice Rumbelle moment again 😛

Hmmm… I wonder when they took this picture. Snow is clearly back in her bandit costume.
ready_to_rumbelleParticipantRumple’s attitude towards love doesn’t necessarily correlate with Belle being gone. He could either be aware that he loves her but thinks that she could never love him (we know that he has serious self-loathing issues) or he just wanted to manipulate Snow into taking his potion so he can retrieve a hair of her for his TL potion…
ready_to_rumbelleParticipantOf course, it’s possible that Rumple took the wand back from the fairy (who got it from Robin after he stole it) but in my opinion it would make more sense for the events in Price of Gold to take place during a time period of around 3 years (and it would also simplify an already complicated timeline). That would mean that Rumple killed the FGM, made the deal with Ella and took the wand with him to the DC. Briefly after that, Belle came to him and the events of Lacey take place. I think I read somewhere that Adam Horowitz stated that Snow was 2 weeks pregnant during Ella and Thomas’ wedding, placing it around 9 months before the curse.
ready_to_rumbelleParticipantIt would be only logical that the death happens in episode 22. I don’t buy any of the reports saying that the death scene was already filmed. Usually, A & E write the big moments, which especially happen in the (mid-)season finales and these episodes always have light moments and big shockers.
Season 1: In the midseason finale of season 1, Emma started to open up and let someone in and in the exact moment, Graham dies. In the season finale, the curse is broken but magic comes to SB.
Season 2: Everyone is reunited but Cora manages to get to SB in “The Queen of Hearts”. At the end of the season finale, the town is saved and everyone seems to be happy but bummer: Henry is kidnapped and the gang has to face “someone we all should fear” according to Rumple.
Season 3: Regina can prevent Pan’s curse from being enacted but Gold had to “kill” himself in order to stop PP. Finale: Everyone is celebrating a “splashy wedding” but then someone dies??? That’s kind of my head canon based on some spoilers we got…
Now about the character that will kick the bucket: my money is on a certain pirate who has apparently filmed a lot recently. Are they wrapping up his story? Maybe. However, I, like many others, think that the “originals” are safe for reasons that have already been mentioned a few times (business/ratings, hope, you don’t kill a kid etc). Which leaves Hook, Belle and Nealfire. My guess that it will be our devilishly handsome Killian Jones is just based on my personal interpretation of A & E’s definition of a family show which aims to reunite a father with his son and gives the ultimate villain the chance to redeem himself and find his happy ending with his family and TL (which also fits perfectly for Regina and not only Rumple).
*hides away from angry Hookers/CS shippers*
ready_to_rumbelleParticipantI will be surprise if they do make it to Season 4.
And this is where we disagree. Despite the “eh” ratings, we’re still one of ABC’s top rated shows. And, as always, you HAVE to keep the Rules of Syndication in mind. We are getting a S4. It’s like 99.99999999999999% confirmed at this point. ABC will announce in May, but we’re getting it. Even a show with lower rating than us (ie: Revenge) will get renewed because of Syndication. Once ABC has that in the bank, then we’ll see what happens with a S5 or half a S5. But that depends on the S4 ratings, which means A and E do have some work to do if they want a 5th season.
Well, I wouldn’t talk about a possible season 5, yet, because it’s way too early for that but at the moment there are only 4 ABC shows (please correct me if I’m wrong) which are doing better than Once in ratings (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Agents of SHIELD and Modern Family). I’m definitely no expert in this, but as far as I know, the Sunday spot isn’t a very easy one for TV shows and therefore, I guess Once is doing quite good. So even without the advantage of Syndication, coming with a 4th season, it should be pretty much a sure thing.
