I gotta say, a lot of news from comic con has me super happy.
And Jen and Colin were just adorable at the panel.
[adrotate group="5"]rogvortex58Participant@rogvortex58 Yeah I completely disagreed with Jeremy about how if you’re just looking at the chemistry between the two characters then you ship CS and if you ship SF you’re focused more on the overall story. I mean LOOK at the overall story Hook and Emma have found themselves closer to each other due to the way the story has been told. Emma has been put in a place where she has to let go of her relationship with Neal. The story demanded that the book would be closed on SF I’m sorry but that’s Adam’s words. Neal’s death happened because the story demanded, which means the story led Emma away from a happy ending that included Neal in it.
I understand people being upset and thinking that Neal’s death was the death of hope on this show if the way they had been seeing the story was the way RG said on the podcast. For me I never saw Neal & Henry as the center of the story it wasn’t their fairytale it’s Emma’s. Now what is Emma’s happy ending? We don’t know that yet, we know some parts of what that includes, we can guess as to others but the hope is not dead on this show because Emma can still have her happy ending, her love, her family, her home. She can have all of that still this is the story her fighting for her happy ending I know that a lot of people had an idea of what that was romantically that is now gone but that’s the story we’re being told.
Yeah. I ship CS because of the story. While I can’t say I have anything against ST/SF or their story, it happened in one episode. We only know from Tallahassee that at one point in both their lives they were in love. He left her. And then that’s it.
At least with Emma and Hook what we get is an actual story arc where the relationship develops over the course of the seasons. It took more than just one episode for CS to get to where they are now. As a viewer that’s what I’m interested. The journey.
rogvortex58ParticipantRegina’s apple managed it. Jefferson used his hat to take it from the past and bring it to her in the future.
um what’s the code for hiding spoilers?
rogvortex58ParticipantFrom the previous Once Podcast episode, for Quiet Minds:
Daniel J. Lewis: As far as making predictions, between the SwanFire and Captain Swan ‘shippers, the Captain Swan ‘shippers have been more correct in their predictions and theories of what would happen, things such as…she cites multiple examples..but certain things like they’d been theorizing that there would be a kiss between Emma and Hook, and there was a little spoiler that Emma [Jennifer Morrison] said something, ‘When you get to kiss someone on-screen, it’s always fun.” Everyone assumed that meant Hook [and it was]. Jeremy: I love that a kiss is an event with spoilers and articles…and what not. Daniel J. Lewis: But there have been several things where, yeah, it does maybe look like Captain Swan ‘shippers are more correct in their theories and certainly deserve recognition for interpreting the show correctly in certain directions. But I know that’s not without error.
I was in the show chat when this happened & it was so uncomfortable lol. Yeah when it comes to stuff with our ship we’ve been good about predicting it’s direction. The show has been very good to our ship. It’s just that how it read was that CS shippers are smart and SFers cant’t see past the end of their nose. What’s worse is when it was said right in the middle of the episode dealing with Neal’s death. So it also came off like we were celebrating that he’s no longer a threat to our ship. Just bad taste, I felt so bad that I apologized to the whole chat. I predicted Neal’s death I know there were others that did too but it just didn’t seem to gloat about it when many SFers were in mourning and that’s how it looked like a giant “I told you so.”
I ignored the signs hinting at the death completely. I was in total denial about Neal dying. Because despite my own shipping preference I didn’t want it too happen. It all just felt too soon.
It’ll suck for Henry when he gets his memories back.
rogvortex58ParticipantI never got the impression that CS was very popular on the Once podcast. Seems like they can’t go an episode without theorizing Hook’s death, or his eventually moving on with someone else who isn’t Emma.
And I didn’t really care for Jeremy’s generalizing of the CS fans and why he believes we ship Emma and Hook. Bad form.
Other than that, I enjoy most of the show and the discussions they have. There are times they can even make me laugh.
rogvortex58ParticipantI’m not happy about Neal dying. But if this is the way things were always planned, and if CS was always intended by the writers to be more than just a one time thing, it’s really nobody’s fault if the show is going in this direction.
I mean, you only have to look at Emma’s character and everything she’s been through to see where this was going. She spent her whole life feeling alone and closed off from letting people get close to her, or being able to trust anyone. So of course, the one person who would come back for her, is more the one likely to win her heart Especially after it had been broken so many times, either by the belief that her parents didn’t want her, or that she had been betrayed by the man she loved.
Henry having a family was important. But Emma having happiness was important too. She found the strength to be the saviour because of her son’s belief in her. And now she has a guy who is willing to cross realms to save her from any dangers this new curse might have brought. He knows that the real Emma would never be able to just sit back while her family needs her.
Killian supports her as a friend and a partner. I’m not saying Neal couldn’t have done that. But the fact that the writers never really put him in that position where he could, tells me that they were always intending for Killian to be the person who would prove to Emma that she can have both, her destiny as the saviour and her happy ending with her family.
rogvortex58ParticipantI won’t lie to you, guys. That was a pretty depressing episode.
Honestly there are some episodes of shows you never want to watch again. And Quiet Minds for me is one of them. I hated the ending.
This is also not how I wanted the “triangle” to be resolved. Not that I ever thought of it as a triangle. I’m truly going to miss Neal.
rogvortex58ParticipantHere ya go.
rogvortex58ParticipantYeah, the podcast is a lot of fun. Thanks for the kind words.
If there’s one thing I can’t resist in the world of fiction it’s one badass falling in love with another badass. CS to me is an action couple.
rogvortex58Participantbloody hell! double post.
